  • At first, everything with NIL looked all nice and shiny and clean, but flash forward a few years and Marvin Harrison Jr is now face first in a legal battle with sports giant Fanatics. Apparently, he did not complete their deal and now they will sue him and this could blow up into a huge mess. Today, I want to talk about the scandal, what happened and what this could mean, enjoy!

Kind of old news, but decided to make a video none the less. What are your thoughts on this scandal? What should happen?

People just need to stop supporting Fanatics. They're like EA with Madden. 👎

Ya!!! There's no way that they should expect an athlete to meet the contractual obligations that they agreed to and were already paid for....

@@joshuafinn6038you sound like a corporate drone.
It's obvious that the OP is referring to the Company as a whole for being trash. I can buy a Chinese knock off of most fanatics products for less and get better quality.
I've actually decided to get my own plain apparel and hand stitch on patch logos because of how poor quality their products are

I'm a self employed private contractor. And I expect people to live up to the contracts that they sign. And I will do the same...

I have never bought anything from Fanatics, are they that terrible? Why do a lot of people hate them? I’m just curious.

NiL was a mistake. At most, it should’ve only been a revenue sharing system between schools and players. Not that athletes weren’t getting something for their time and effort to begin with..

Percentage of revenue like a salary cap? Because only the to 10 teams would get all the players

NIL IS GOOD BUT HE RIGHT IT SHOULD BE BETWEEN THE SCHOOLS AND PLAYERS AND THERE SHE BE LIKE A GRADING SYSTEM OR SOMETHING IDK BUT THEY SHOULDNT ALLOW OUTSIDE ENTITIES BECAUSE THATS WHEN GUYS GET SCREWED OVER SORRY I WROTE THIS AN CAPS TOO LAZY TOO TURN IT OFF

@@samelmudir It really would be no different than how things used to be.. maybe make it a revenue sharing system between all of NCAA and the players. Every school has to send X% of their profits to NCAA and they equally split things up among the players. But that might not really be feasible though because then everyone would only get like.. $10 bucks.. and I could see how some might say thats not fair. But it also wouldn’t be fair to give some G5 career bench warmer a cut of what a top tier school would bring in. Probably best to just leave it between each individual school and player.

I hate Fanatics, but I also think they wouldn't risk the potential PR nightmare of a fraudulent lawsuit. I think Harrison probably thought he was above the law (so to speak) after signing and just collected his checks but then did his own thing

This is why you ALWAYS have a lawyer when signing big money deals. If I had to guess, they didn't properly read the contract, thought they were just signing over the rights for Fanatics to sell autographed merch, and they actually signed over the *exclusive* rights.
Until we verify that, though, it doesn't make the Harrisons look very good, either. Marv Sr. already made generational wealth catching passes from Peyton Manning. At some point, you should have enough money that trying to find another million is not worth risking your reputation or these legal battles. But maybe I'm just biased against the Harrisons after Marv Sr.'s murder investigation.
