  • Our system makes it easier and faster to change a drumhead and get it tuned up than previous lug-based systems.

Now we can have our guitarist tune our drums. Cool.

To the contrary, you'll be done with tuning your drums so fast your guitarist will be asking you to tune THEIR instruments 😉

Wow.. can’t believe that it has taken so many years to come up with a new way to tune up your drum heads.. interesting concept..

I like this idea. Would be better IMO if there were 2 cranks, one for top and bottom separately

Through R&D we determined that it was unnecessary for this system and the added mass of a secondary system was largely superfluous. The ability to control the tuning from a single point is the key feature, providing a fool-proof quality of sound across the range of the drum.

@WelchTuningSystemsInc this system eliminates the opportunity to tune the top head looser than the bottom, which is what you need if you want to achieve a pitch bend effect on the toms. That being said, I STILL want to own one of your drumsets. 😅

@viktormuerte similar sound can be achieved using single ply skin on one side and triple on the other as the tensions will be differrent.

After nearly 40 years of playing, I prefer to have my bottom resonant head tuned a fraction higher than the top head. When you strike the top head it raises pitch momentarily equal to that of the bottom head and then resonates out so its that initial strike sound that I personally love and have worked with for years both in studio and live work. Of course, set up, tuning and overall sound/tonal quality is largely subjective but this a very inventive way of tuning and I would love to get my hands on one of those drums and give it a try. It does look a tad fiddley though. Its the Great idea that I would love to hear and physically try in practise. I never say never by the way. Always open to new ideas 👍.

We admire your open-mindedness! We've designed and developed this system to be fully-functional, practical, and road-worthy. We love the sound you described and would approach such a thing with a single-ply batter like an Evans G12 (12mil thick) and an Evans G1 (10mil thick) reso. The difference in thickness will generate the intervallic relationship that you referenced. We hope you get to try our drums soon! Be sure to look up the closest dealer on our website under the "Find a Dealer" section.

The top head cannot have the same pressure as the bottom head
