Random shower thought, and bear with me on this because it's a little strange but it might work. There is actually no way for beer to be vegan because they use yeast to ferment and carbonate it. Yeast is a living organism, and veganism does not allow consumption of products that come from such a source. Therefore, there is no way Black House (or any other beer, wine, or liquor) could be considered vegan. #YeastRights
I like where you're going with this thought, but isn't veganism specifically the abstinence from animal based products? Not necessarily all life based products. If that were true then vegans also would not be able to eat plants.
@@TheMNbassHunter I honestly meant this as a joke, but I cannot ignore the excellent point you have raised. You are correct, and I do stand corrected. I hope your day goes well, and you find success in all future endeavors.
@@Wiiguyface342 Seeing as yeast is a fungus (like mushrooms, also vegan), beer should typically all be vegan unless it has dairy or other animal based products. Edit: Oops, someone else already explained.

pour him some random beers and see if he can guess which ones are what. everything from the "normal" to the shit he hated from past reviews. in my opinion that would be a good video, tell him no sniffing and just go for it
If you guys ever come back, and start making these craft brew reviews again, I'd like to see something like a spin-off, with hard liquor, in its own series. Like "flavored whiskeys", and "spiced rums/rum cocktail mixes", "fruity vodkas", stuff like that. It would be nice to see the Rated Red crew do stuff like that.
I much prefer stouts over almost any beer type. I enjoy the malty flavor you get from the darker grains and the lower IBU's from not as much hops added in. The Carmel sweetness and coffee bitterness goes great together. However, if I were to pick an IPA, Bell's Two Hearted Ale is my favorite. Great flavor but not nearly as bitter as other IPA's. I believe it has to do with the type of hops added.
I like milk stouts and oatmeal stouts. Stouts are sipping beers, that improve as they warm and lose carbonation. Founders Breakfast Stout is excellent, and Left Hand Milk Stout is my go to stout.
I think dragons milk triple mash is 14%, that one is legit if you like imperial stouts but hard to find. I think I have 1 bottle of that left. Central Waters in Wisconsin is very well known for their Imperial stouts, but their best are sold from the brewery as special releases.
dragons milk is one of the best bourbon barrel aged stouts out there. now they are being mass produced i hope that does not ruin the beer. in time we will know
Key to enjoying a stout is temperature and aging. My fav stout was a 10.50 bourbon barrel at 65 degrees after 2 years in the aging cellar. They aren’t normally meant for consumption after purchase. Got some stouts now at 3-5 years just waiting for perfection.
Answering your question, Boss. I don’t have a preference between IPAs or stouts. I love them both. It all depends on what I’m feeling like. If I want something citrusy and crisp, I grab an IPA. If I want a beer for dessert, I grab a stout. It all depends on the day.
I don't drink the microbrew stuff often but it seems the IPA's are best in summer and stouts and porters are best in the winter months. Maybe it's the citrus flavor of the IPA's (kinda like lemonade) and the coffee flavors of the stouts and when do people drink more coffee, in the winter!
Boss, have you tried the New England style ipas from Good craft brewaries such as Treehouse, Trillium, Other Half, Monkish? Unlike the West coast ipa, New England ipas done right are not bitter at all, lots of citrus, tropical fruit notes but the hops are showcased. So like galaxy hops are used a lot and they give off a natural pinnaple component that makes the beer nice. Citra hops are also utilized a lot in NEipa which give a natural orange/dank weed, flavor.
Stouts FTW. I’m not sure that anyone’s told you that imperial/double stouts are classified separately from regular stouts. Your two picks were single stouts and the others were imperials. What does that mean? It means anything with the label Imperial is an indicator that they took a single recipe and doubled all the ingredients except the water. Hence the thickness. Disappointed that nobody sent you any Bourbon barrel stouts where an imperial is put into a whiskey barrel and cellared to age. I doubt it’s really your thing but watching you drink some B.B. stouts would make for good viewing. They range usually 10-15% alcohol
I work at a craft brewery. Loved this video! We had a coffee blonde ale. It was a serious freaking morning beer. Love the beer review videos. Review Caiseal beer or spirits for me and I’ll be an even happier camper.
He'd really like the belching beaver milk stout probably the best pb milk stout and it's not crazy priced. Very easy to drink stout, it's dark but the stouts roasted notes are paired excellently
Every single one of these sounds amazing, especially the first one. I’m a huge fan of Belching Beaver’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout on tap. Also, I’m super glad I moved from Alabama to California.
about the vegan thing: in some brewing an ingredient/process called fining is used, this is a substance added to the beer which causes sediment in the beer to clump together and sink in the cask/keg leading to a clearer smoother beer, traditionally finings are made from the swim bladder of fish, usually sturgeon. Some brewers now use a seaweed based fining, this is the cause of the vegan/non-vegan marking
As a suggestion, different glassware may help in tasting craft beers. The ones you are using (glencairn) are made for high proof spirits to keep the alcohol smell down. For small beer portions, a simple wide mouthed rocks glass will likely be better.
