My two favorite manufacturers merging. I've owned Nissans since 1992 and never have had a single recall, and can count the breakdowns on one hand. Currently own a 2017 370Z 6MT with 80,000 miles, and a 2015 Xterra Pro-4X with 115,000 miles. Zero recalls, zero breakdowns, and I run the hell out of them.
Not really, Tesla and BYD are well ahead of the game. This is more a survival mode for the 2 companies cause in 7-10 years time they will go bankrupt if they are not careful. BYD alone could take on these two without a sweat. Nissan deserved it for not innovating. BYD rolls out 30+ patents everyday, way too advanced than Honda.
@aminr4281 me too but unfortunately their R and D has surpassed Japanese and Western cars. 2 days ago I had a chance to ride an Aion EV but been in a toyota car for 10 years, difference is night and day, you could never compare new generation chinese cars with japanese cars, its too advance. Anyway, it is good overall for consumers like us as it promote innovation and competition.
It’s Honda that silently taking over the Nissan/mitsubishi alliance. Nissan is still a popular brand in Asia/south east Asia. For Honda it’s all about market share, it will be the third largest car produser in the world with a large market share in Asia where smaller and affordable cars are in demand
It’s a shame that Chinese companies are not allowed to compete in fair and free markets. I am not big fan of Chinese cars but It would be very beneficial for consumers for price, innovation and quality points of view.
How can we get your, iSeeCars, and your subscribers' opinions "up the flagpole" to the people that matter at Honda management/ executives/ board/ etc., i.e. the decision makers? Has Honda created any kind of social media listening system yet? Or do we need to create one for them? How else are they going to hear the honest opinion of their buying public? A lot of people in your comments section make a lot of valid points about why this is a bad idea; will cost them a lot of money, tarnish their reputation, etcetera which should factor heavily into Honda's decision making!!
Nissan and Honda have very weak EV and software technology, their system is also hierarchal not meritocratic. SouthEast Asia is already shifting to EV, demand for Japanese cars is falling fast.
This is not a merger from strength. Nissan is very weak with debt trading in junk territory. Honda is nothing special, just a mid-market vehicle maker with no distinctive technology, engineering or design. They both don't spend enough on EV technology and will need to catch-up on R&D.
This could be a ridgid path for Honda to take on Nissan. Though I do feel for Nissan, even Cummins screwed them with the engine they provided for the Titan trucks. Among other things.
As much as I hate tech coming from China, they might over take Japanese car manufacturers ,expect maybe Toyota, but Japan as a country has a lot of issue like low birth rate and even the quality of their tech is going down while China and India are slowly but surely moving up! India and China will eventually replace South Korea and Japan as the tech leaders of Asia and I’m not liking this at all, but it is happening!
I have no doubt trying to merge Nissan and Honda comes from Japanese government’s foolish pride and nationalistic sides. To be bought out by Chinese company especially in auto industry is a kind of insult for Japan and it should be obstructed whatsoever even though it wouldn’t work for both Nissan and Honda. Look what they did to Carlos Ghosn himself.
There's no threat 😕😬 They is a big decline in there sales There's not one famous product from both these brands from last 5-7 years 😢 Still stucked in 80s and early 2000 period
I wouldnt bet big on tying two Luddite cultures together to make a winner. Legacy auto in Japan either doesnt see what is coming or doesnt want to participate.
Great reset is here thank god only one more year before i can finally watch the chaos unfold ill sertle for the recession in 2025 by july tho and the disappoint retail sales in February and bank losses in march for now
The time has come for Japanese car makers to consolidate. The world can not support a surfeit of Japanese cars. Want to see Mazda, Suzuki, & Mitsubishi to merge with someone bigger.
These companies laughed at BYD 10 years ago. Their refusal to innovate had put them in this ferulous situation. If Toyota does not change its EV outlook they will find themselves in this similar situation. The NOKIA fate!
I hope Honda doesn't ruin its good reputation and product with this merger

Nissan makes great products
Hope Nissan doesn’t ruin Honda. If Honda is in charge & has the ability to remove people and Nissan, it would be better.
Agree Honda is the better product
@@thinkgenwealth Let's see Honda make a vehicle as good as the new Armada Pro-4X
This merger may give Honda more leverage.
All three manufacturers will get a big boost 😊

Carmakers that don’t produce EV’s will go bankrupt. So they’d better care about them
