Funny to hear "the Dodgers and Giants have just been out west together" (meaning St Louis, Chicago, and Milwaukee). Only a few months later, they would both head much further west....forever.

At 1:31:46, Vin Scully - "Dodgers have three runs and the Giants have twoooo." Vin Scully's distinctive Bronx elongated voice pattern. Classic! Oh the memories of listening to Scully's voice for decades as a Dodger fan. Scully's voice was baseball.

it's amazing that Vin, who wasn't even 30 years old at this point, had already established his own style. The style is the same as it was 50 years later, only the names are different. And what he asks the audience in the bottom of the 7th, "When's the last time you've been to Ebbets Field? Come on out!" As if it were his own personal invitation to you.

The final season of the Dodgers and Giants in The Big Apple as they moved to both Hollywood (Los Angeles) and Frisco (San Francisco) for the '58 season, which officially ended the Golden Age of Baseball and the 3-team National League (NL) baseball in New York in the process and left the Yankees of the American League (AL) as the only baseball game in town from 1958-1961. The NL would not return to NYC in 1962 when the Mets came in.

I was born and raised in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay Area. But I wish the Dodgers could have stayed in Brooklyn! And if I were to say those words again, the Brooklyn Dodgers. That just seems to be more natural to me! Thank you Lord in heaven 4 Branch Rickey and Vin Scully and all the great Men that played on that 1955 world championship team. Pee Wee at shortstop, Duke Snider in Center, Roy Campanella catcher. Johnny Padres picture. Sandy amoros save the Dodgers butts. Love The Boys of Summer! You know it was the Giants that started the Rivalry between the Brooklyn Dodgers and themselves I do believe! I think it was the Giants manager McGraw in the 1930s was asked by a newspaper reporter and I'm paraphrasing how do you think the Giants are going to do this year.? We should win the pennant he said. The reporter then asked, what about the Brooklyn Dodgers? Oh the manager said are they still in the league? And the 1951 Giants that caught the Dodgers and beat them on the Bobby Thompson home-run. We're stealing signs all year and that's how they caught the Dodgers who were 13 games ahead leak into the season. Yes the Giants won finally in 1954 against the Cleveland Indians. But then they couldn't win a World Series for 50 years after their last World Championship in New York. Cheaters never prosper haha

@@Bestroblozianxxx Unfortunately back in those days the Yankees hogged all the World Series titles, Brooklyn finally beating them in 1955. The Yankees would lose again in 1957, and again in 1960 on Bill Mazeroski's home run of Ralph Terry. Now the Yankees found out how the Dodgers felt in 1951 when Bobby Thomson hit the 'Shot Heard Round The World.' But we all know the Giants cheated that year by using a high-powered telescope set up in the centerfield clubhouse at the Polo Grounds to steal opposing catchers signs and relay to the Giants players. Back to the Yankees. They would win 103 games in 1954 but finish second to the Cleveland Indians, who set a franchise record by going 111-43, besting the 1927 Yankees by one (110-44). The Yankees finished the 1959 season in third place with the Chicago White Sox taking the AL pennant, one of only two times in the 1950s the Yankees did not finish first.

That Decision went down to the last minute, mayor Wagner and Robert Moses would not relent and help O’Malley acquire land under eminent domain oh Malley was willing to put up 50% of his money, and then build a new ball park in Brooklyn with 100% financing from Brooklyn dodger ownership. Not one dime of taxpayer money would’ve been spent building the new stadium. Robert Moses objective to this deal and basically said he would only support a taxpayer funded stadium in New York where Shea stadium will exist seven years later. So O’Malley took the heat from dodger fans, but Moses and Wagner were the bigger culprits. The Dodgers eventually got a sweetheart deal from LA that only a moron would refuse. And saying this growing up in New York during the mid 40s all the way until 1957 until the Dodgers finally left and went to LA for the 58 season, it broke my heart and all of us Were literally in tears when the Dodgers left Brooklyn. This franchise from 1947 until they left for LA was the heart and soul of Brooklyn and you had to grow up in that era to understand how much we loved that team.

The Dodgers are 59-44 and 3 1/2 back on their way to 84-70 and third place. the Giants are a disappointing 46-60 and would continue to stumble to a 69-85 6th place finish, one of only three losing records the Giants had in the 50's and 60's. Perhaps more importantly, they were 8th in the league in home attendance that year with 653,923 while the Dodgers were 5th with 1,028,258.
