Sandshrew and Sandslash have always been two of my favorite pokemon ever since gen 1. I'm so glad to see Sandslash putting in some work here. Excellent video and I hope to see many more like it.
If there's one thing i've learned over the years, It's use whatever pokemon you like no matter how strong they are, There's always a way to make them work
While it's possible it's very hard to do good in ranked when u are using sub or under 500 stat mons against borderline OP stuff like Flutter mane, bundle, Urshifu, tailwind spamming, etc.
@@glurpious73 Tried making a Flareon set actually. Normal Tera with fire orb, facade/trailblaze/flare blitz/protect. Might swap protect for something else, but I figured it was neat that Flareon could have a chance to shine thanks to not needing toxic orb anymore, plus flare blitz being better then fire fang. Sadly it's still just a bit too slow. If only some of those special attack points went into speed lol
7:18 Sandslash was always one my favorite gen 1 mons just because I thought it had such a cool design but anytime Haydunn has the good boi Knuckles come out and grab a kill just by sitting still in a bean bag it's gonna be a good day for me! 😂💝🎉
I was really disappointed after seeing the anime where that one guys sandshrew was all tough and trained to shrug off water attacks and then mine died to water gun in the game 😅
My dude! First Dewgong and now Sandslash! You’re using all my favourites, next you’ll be making my Zappy Boi Raichu a star somehow. Love your content. The Slash was what I went for my Let’s Go nostalgia trip with. The boi rolling all over Kanto with me 💙
Would you consider making a video about your team building process and analysis? I've loved how you can use niche picks in such a fun and threatening way and I'd like to have a better understanding of how to do it myself!
i love sandslash so much, its a joy to see whenever showdown gives me one in ranbats since its almost sure to have rapid spin for those pesky hazards and if im lucky it can knock a mon or 2 out with its high atk stat
Great video! I gotta back up A Ninetails tho. When u said it never surprises, I surprise people a lot by going for a Nasty plot when I know they are gonna switch, especially when I know they are gonna switch to another weather setter. I've gone on sweeps and still get my A Veil up at times. Tera Steal is great for it as well. Blizzard or Moon blast + a NP goes brrrrrr! A Ninetails with encore is great too (but I don't have it on my set)
Sandslash is unfortunately just a poor mans Excadrill. Like the only things it got that Excadrill can't do are Knock Off and Gunk Shot, both have Poison Jab though. Its nice to see someone still use Sandslash instead though
So at 4:11 when you send out the hippo against greninja why does it shows earthquake to be super effective? Greninja is water and dark so it shouldn't be weak to it. I've also noticed when I was playing with npc which show that earthquake was supper effective against snorlex but normal it's not weak to ground move. I try searching this up but nothing comes up to why earthquake was supper effective to snorlex similar to here on how your eathquick is supper effective to greninja.
bro sandslash is amazing. i used to run alolan ninetails (max speed + aurora veil) with snow warning and alolan sandslash (max HP and max ATK) with slush rush in Gen 7
sandslash has always been a top tier gen 1 mon to me (and my mom, for that matter. she loves sandslash). i always name my shiny ones knuckles 😌 we love to see a good boy put in the work
I don't play comp or anything, but one thing I noticed is that Sandslash is one of the few Pokémon with access to Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock/Spikes while having a HP Draining move in Leech Life. Sadly it's... well a Bug Type move. While Ground would hit the Fire, Poison, and Steel Types that resist Bug, there's still Fighting, Flying, Ghost, and Fairy... granted Stealth Rock could threaten Flying. And then there's just... Sandslash's stats being VERY power creeped as a Gen 1 Pokémon. 😔 Toedscruel and Brambleghast have Giga Drain, but that would use a Special moveset, and Rapid Spin is Physical. They also only have access to Spikes (and Toedscruel would always move last using Spikes because of its ability). Other Pokémon running Rapid Spin + hazard move would have to rely on items/abilities or take up another move slot just to heal. Edit: Throwing in that Sandslash also has access to Drill Run for possible Critical Hit shenanigans.
Gengar is the OG ghost. GIVE BACK LEVITATE! I run gengar on almost all of my teams no matter how far it drops 😁💜. Also, the Slaking attack animation + the Knock Off animation go hand-in-hand smoothly 👋😝
Those Gen 1 stat spreads are painful to see anymore. I feel like you could reasonably bump most older Pokemon up to at least 500 BST and it would make such a massive difference in viability.
Yeah, I was about to say. I knew sandslash was coming. In your last video, it easily could've been the feature. Don't get me wrong, Doug is great and all but knuckles is SHARP
I was just wondering, do you go into a match and try to use a certain mon for the video? Or do you just hit record and see who pops off the most, then title the video to be about that mon?
Slaking “avoiding” Hydro Pump while he’s just chilling there is hilarious 😂
Babe, wake up. Haydunn made a Gen 1 Pokémon useful again
I didn't know Sandslash casually rolls in the intro
Rapid spin
@@ChocolateSoda1 Not Roll Out?
Sandslash solos sonic the Hedgehog fr
Me neither. I first found out when I had one following me in let’s go eevee 😂
"Single blade of grass" looked like a ball to me. Poor Gastrodon, getting green balls to the face.
I wonder how I can get my balls... Green 😏
I have a soft spot for Sandslash, it was my first shiny... so good seeing him being used
Sandslash was pretty good in Stadium.
Wait he was my first shiny too (sandshrew) in pokemon sapphire! Like 20 years ago

Crazy after 20+ years crystals sprites still have the most character
Sandslash is my favorite Pokémon, since GEN1, glad to see it doing some work.
I’ve not been back in a few years but I’ve had notis on the whole time 1 can’t believe your voice had got so much deeper 2 the intro still slaps
Ah, the Excadrill we have at home.
Bro was I the only one that thought sandshrew and sandslash was so cute when it got released and used it when it got released?
Ya know, it’s wild, because of the billions of people in the world, you actually ARE the only one who did.

This is definitely the first time I’ve seen a guy absolutely on level 10 chilling inside of a sandstorm inside of a minecraft diamond house.

Sandslash deserves a strong, high crit ground type slashing contact move.
No you cannot change my mind.
It already gets drill run

Back in the day, I used to use swords dance sandslash in PU with hippopotas to set up the sand. It was a lot of fun to use!
Btw hydrapple is like 40 something base speed so there was never a threat of it being faster.
Alolan sandlash
Slush rush ability
Heavy duty boots
Tera ground
Swords dance
Rapid spin
Iron head
Earthquake
Pairs well with alolan ninetails

Greninja was rock type bc of its ability Protean
Minecraft diamond house LOL

Haydunn did nail it again. Sandslash is a cool one. Always been.
Won some key RBY tourney matches with Sandslash. Important case where stat total tells a small tale.
I always assumed Sandslash had less than 50 speed, didn't realize it had damn near 70
Been watching the Black Nuzlocke and Lanturn is here too!

I’ve always loved sandslash because it reminds me of SSJ3
Been in these battles before. Almost every move for the last half of the battle just went comically wrong for him
My fav pkmn since Gen 1, I put it on teams every generation. Usually VGC tho.
Sandshrew/Sandslash are the best Pokemon. Fact! Thanks for showing how awesome they are!
Nice lil sweep. great game!
In order to balance out rock type attacks having low accuracy, I feel that sandstorm should lower opponents moves accuracy instead of damaging them
Super sand legend
Sandslash playthrough of gen 3 coming up
The youtube shorts are a good move. Wouldn't have seen the video otherwise, didn't come up in my feed
This was a wonderful watch.
If Ribombee would have quiver danced instead of sticky webbed, that would have been carnation instant scary.
Just the break I need from studying for A&P

Make a generation 1 Ninetales video
