A dark Latina or Asian would be considered light in the black community but in their community they’re dark compared to their ppl. So they’re able to experience colorism and benefit from it
You are young, and I think you are at that age where being liked is important, but as you get older with more life experiences, that will not matter. Don't be afraid, you are missing out on people who will accept you. You will know then that they like you for who you are. Girls you are both beautiful
Do not compete with our younger sister, you don't need to put her down to feel pretty. and that breeds strife and jealousy for no reason. You're both pretty and your sister's hair is beautiful as well, I love the braid updo reminds me of locs
I am an older blasian married to a Korean with a son. Just like my mom people sometimes look at me and have asked me if he is my child. Growing up I could not find my place in this world, and people would touch my curls or pull my braids to see If it was real. You guys are what you identify as. Love to see you guys video🫰🏽
I see some comments here that are giving me the ick!!! You girls are both beautiful and valid as both asian and black and korean and american! It's sad that you just had to accept racism and colourism growing up, I hope people become more accepting, as there are more and more mixed race people being born!
You and your sister are twins and both very beautiful. Also, Koreans treat Korean Americans like foreigners too based on the fact that they don't live there, they don't know what is like to live there, they're not involved in the politics etc of that country, and many are not that good at the language so communication is also an issue at times, and let's not forget the customs they're not familiar with. I think that's how it is for most non homogenous countries though. Anyone deemed different in any way are assumed foreigners or outsiders.
As a Korean born and raised, now an American citizen, my Korean relatives don't even see me as true Korean. But looking around at Korean American, I can see why. Most don't know Korean history, culture or even speak the language. Some never been to Korea. And they don't really make that much effort into learning about Korea. Yet, I see some of those Korean Americans acting as they are expert in all things Korea when in reality they know nothing.
its most likely because of racism. when u grow up as a korean in america, u are always the "other" no matter what u do. its like almost the opposite to mixed asians like queenie. you look asian but u are culturally american. (instead of looking like a foreigner but being culturally korean) no one ever accepts u in america even if ur born and raised and know nothing about korea. not only that but they will remind you constantly of how different u are. america is not the melting pot it claims to be. especially for asians. its called the "perpetual foreigner myth" for a reason. korean americans shouldnt have to put any effort into learning about korea. they are american. but because americans are racist and dont see u as one of them, korean americans feel forced to learn things about korea. its the process of racialization. its not their fault. and you blaming them for acting like experts ignores the long and painful history of racial hostility against asians in the u.s. assimilated diaspora do not need to understand nor do they claim to understand everything about their homelands because they do not live there. u may live in america now, but it seems u do not understand what its like to have such a fractured sense of identity in which u literally r pulled in both directions due to no choice of ur own except where ur parents decided to raise u. u may have made a choice but it is not their own choice to make. and frankly its so annoying when asians from asia act like asian americans are trying to be entitled little brats when in reality, immigration is often a very traumatic and life altering thing to endure, especially for 1st generations who came during difficult times historically. who cares if they never been to korea. there isnt simply "one" definition of "koreanness" that exists. korean americans are experts in their own right, to their own experiences, just as u are urs. that isnt wrong or bad as u assume.
I agree with Dada, when she said you’re both pretty just in your own unique ways. There’s so much beauty in you guys being your individual selves 😌, it’s not about who’s prettiest 😭. Also, it’s the same for us black people that are mixed race in America.. you grow up with identity issues and don’t feel accepted anywhere 😕

I’m sorry you have to deal with those experiences, you should be accepted both ways because you ARE both Korean and black. Side note, yall are so beautiful too
I'm so sorry you have to deal with so much hate comments from Korean people online. I hope they all learn to acknowledge and change their racist beliefs
Omg, dont compare yourself to each other you are sisters and both are pretty and gorgeous! Your sister is younger but kinder and more mature! She has model face!

Strangers even at school aren't going to just befriend you out of nowhere. Tbh, I went through a very similar experience growing up in the US as an Asian especially back in late 90s/2000s. I've been trying to say that I'm just an American but like the issue you addressed, I get that look or silence which can be loud suggesting that I'm Asian or Asian American at best, not just an American even though I'm patriotic, a military veteran, drive big suv/trucks, and eat American food, and etc.
