are you supposed to lock the rear axle and skid? Or just lightly decelerate?

I wanted to make a short brake distance so I kicked the brake pedal too hard. The kart was unstable after the turn, the rears blocked and I span out.
Next time I broke in sraight line and I could turn in to the corner.

I prefer understeer more than oversteer.
