So many actors just read their lines from a nearby board, while instead of looking at the person to whom they are talking they look away. In this scene of heavy rain, Hao Lan, played by the actress Wu Jin Yan, her cry against the rain and the events in her life that tend to go against her is obviously recited (or cried in anger) from memory. That is great acting!
It's not bad, but I don't know... her acting as being serious, manipulative, and unwavering is very good. She seems to do very very good at being a strong character. However, her emotional roles... the way they have her showing love is sometimes quite awkward, not really of an adult woman an adult man type of scene. However more like a teen drama of first crush type of thing. Her sad moments aren't bad but rarely moves me, they do too much effects and music to play it up but it just ends up lessening the sadness of the scene. The actress in legend of Zhen huan, Sun Li and even legend of Ruyi, Xun Zhou they really know how to do emotional scenes like EXTREMELY well especially Sun Li. Sun Li did two characters that were polar opposites from one another: a rich,well mannered noble girl that became the most favored concubine(legend of zhen huan); and a poor tomboy peasant that became the first and most famous business woman in China(nothing gold can stay). Not only did she do an AMAZING job portraying such polar opposite characters but somehow she did excellent in every emotional aspect of each character... I think Wu jinyan IS a good actress, however I don't know what it is, but her emotional scenes just don't leave any real impact. Maybe that has nothing to do with skill but more so the way she was directed to act.

I don’t know why I keep watching this, maybe I want to find out how many times this woman can be accused falsely of crimes. To tell the truth though it’s getting kind of silly.

i love all the cast in this drama cause ik them from all the other amazing drama's i have watched and also i think i like the prime minister as a funny enunch
Haolan is so undecisive, careless and whining, I'm disappointed with her personality... It is the same cast as Yanxi Palace but this drama is so different : it is really predictable, the romances are uninteresting, the plot is so slow... The only elements that make up for it are the splendid sets and costumes. As for the characters : Physician Yi, Lyu Buwei and Yi Ren in some ways and Concubine Qionghua Oh and the Queen is soooo annoying playing each time the "I'm so mysterious with my piercing intelligence and understanding of the politics pretending to be against you but in reality acting for your safety"....

But then when she married him as a different "ya", she fell in love with him. They fell in love with each other. I'd go so far as to say princess ya loves zixi more than yiren/ zichu. I mean think about it, she would've given birth to his child if he hadn't died
