Lyu Buwei was dismissed from his premiership in just over a year and he became an alcoholic which led to his eventual death. The Emperor eventually went and invited back his mother. In his 19th year of reign she died and was conferred the posthumous title of Imperial empress. She was buried together with her late imperial husband, the emperor's father.
