Chandler was apparently supposed to cheat on Monica for real in Season 5, with a hotel waitress in Vegas, after he and Monica had a heated argument. Luckily, Matthew Perry veteod this, stating that Chandler would never cheat on Monica.
So the writers basically wanted to repeat what happened to Ross and Rachel in season 3? Glad they scrapped that idea.
@@CeCeIsAnArtist - Too true, it was lazy writing. IMO it went further since Chandler was cheated on by Kathy and therefore would know how bad that felt. So Perry was spot-on with his refusal and staved off that 'shark jump'.

I really love how Joey, despite being his best friend, was the first one to call Chandler out.
On the contrary, isnt he the one that should trust him the most? A little bit of the benefit of the doubt? His is not that good of a friend if he cant do at least that 🤷🏻♀️
the opposite - Joey was terrible here. He didn't trust Chandler, just like an emotional child reacted dramatically, and attacked his supposedly 'best friend' before even having the facts! if anything, this scene proves that Ross was the best friend of Chandler. Ross didn't jump to conclusions, waited till he talked to both Monica and Chandler, and waited for them to clarify the whole situation! Joey fans are pathetic - you always lick Joey's a for anything, yet I'm sure if Ross did what Joey did, you would hate on him, and if Joey did what Ross did, you would still praise Joey. hypocrites.

Funny episode, but Chandler was too good a guy to ever cheat on Monica his true love.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought that Ross should have had more of an outraged reaction to thinking that Chandler was cheating on Monica, HIS OWN SISTER. Joey had the reaction you'd expect, when he yelled "You Son of a Bitch!" at Chandler.
He was probably more focused on being there for Monica than tearing down Chandler.
He could do in a scarier way 1on1

I hate that so many writers keep trying to rely on cheating to move the plot forward. Same with Jim and Pam from the Office. Like you built up this couple for so many seasons just to cheat? Tbh...this gang is way too close to just say say ross and joey r BFFs for chandler...I mean they r all close...rachel and phoebe are also pretty close to chandler...monica is his wife...and even before his wife, she was his best friend as well....they r all that one close gang of friends which feels like family
They all went in to tell monica about the affair so clearly ross didn’t trust chandler. And when rachel and pheobe first told ross and joey about the affair joey was the one who questioned it not ross. He knew chandler couldn’t last 45 minutes. Joey and chandler are clear cut best friends and if anything this scene proves joeys also the better brother of the group cause he was ready and willing to cuss chandler out for monicas sake in spite of his friendship with chandler. You’d think as monicas actual brother ross would’ve went for chandlers throat when he first walked in

It feels a bit unfair that none of them confronted Chandler to get his side of the story first before immediately assuming the worst of him. I mean they’ve all known him for years at this point.

Did you even watch the episode Mr entitled? They suspected because Chandler lied to rachel and Phoebe when they saw him getting in a cab with another woman. They had to save another friend by suspecting one doofus.
@shyamkr1shna Those two, sure, they are Monica's friends first of all. Although Joey immediately jumping to that conclusion is weird. Ross was skeptical when told and even used the words "might have had an affair" when confronting Monica, which tracks with how long he has known Chandler. So the only odd thing writing-wise is why Joey would immediately jump to his conclusion, but that might be explained by his fear of "being a child of divorce."

Apart from being the most logical of the group in this scene, Ross not reacting (unlike what he always does 😂) proves he trusted Chandler more than anybody. While Joey-Chandler is the more overrated duo, Ross-Chandler is far longer and persevering; in fact, the longest friendship of the group (Not counting the Geller siblinghood).

The writers missed a fun oppertunity. Chandler and Monica should have played up the affair for fun...when he told them to sit down i thought he was going to play it up and monica would play into it too. That would have been a good few minutes of fun before the truth comes out.

I think they kinda cheated and took the easier/cheaper way out by having them both be infertile, I mean what are the chances of that happening? Would have been a more complicated situation and a better story if only Chandler was infertile. They could have used that to create some turbulence in their relationship only for them to stand strong in the end.
These "friends" really had no faith in Chandler to give him the benefit of the doubt. Real friends would've seen this scenario and asked for his explanation first before going straight to his wife.

Yeah I think it's strange the other characters accepted he was having an affair so easily (in like half a day). It would be shocking for Chandler to do that to Monica after all this time. But it made me laugh at least.
Yeah, honestly, they should have gone to Chandler first. If I were in their group I would have gone to Chandler first asking him about it. And also, they immediately thought Monica was in shock when she was asking what they thought of the house and the neighborhood. That’s not someone in shock, that’s a sign that they were not on the right track about what was happening.

And then they prceed to call Mondler out on their decision to move out for their kids, citing all the selfish reasons why they shouldn't. This is the part of all sitcoms (Friends, HIMYM, etc.) that I hate. How do people unrelated to you get the entitlement to feel like they have a say (and in the case of HIMYM, meddle) in your life? I know it's a show and all, but in reality, this is really selfish behaviour.
Even in reality friends feel the same sentiment the characters felt knowing they were going their separate ways after so many years together
I hate to think that their friends preferred to spy and plot against Chandler and accuse him to Monica instead of confronting him and allowing him to explain himself.
