My favorite non superhero comic series, I highly recommend this series. Hopefully they do a Jack of Fables Compendium.
Fables is one of the best DC Vertigo imprint series, I own an issue of the DC Black Label comeback after DC shut down their mature Vertigo imprint 3 years ago. I also enjoyed Batman Vs. Bigby: A Wolf In Gotham, the Batman/Fables crossover. I really want own the Telltale game, The Wolf Among Us, that’s on my list of DC games I really need to play.
Would be great if they do 3 massive omnibuses of Fables in the future. Honestly it is weird that this series doesn't have them and absolutes.
I would take Omnis or Abolites but I think Omnibus wpuld be the best based on length of the series.

Wow! Wouldn't think they would go with soft covers in such a special edition....Especially with such high number of pages per book.

Thank you so much for the comparison with the Deluxe edition! I am a fan of Telltale's Wolf among us and I was thinking about getting myself complete comics story. Now I know than Deluxe is my choice due to HC and overall quality for staying strong on the shelves.
Great video Omar. I got mine,pre ordered in 2nd December 2021 from Organic Priced Books, arrived last Monday. Love it,half way through Book one,love the art,and the writing!
Hey Omar yeah I have the 4 compendiums too. I was also a bit nervous about their build but they're not dissimilar to the Saga & Invincible Compendiums. I've delved a bit into one of the volumes at random and it's certainly out there. The shortish chapters seemed to make the read easier in a way. Thanks for the overview as I certainly want to revisit it from the beginning some time soon. The box looks nice but the build and the printing could've been a bit more imaginative. I'd suggest a thick piece of foam or a bookend as a place holder to stop the books from moving and falling over. Cheers mate. 👍
It has foam blocks in the lid. It doesn't fit perfectly but it still works

Still would have preferred the originally solicited slipcase instead of this box. The lid doesn't close tightly so I had to put it on the shelves backside front to not see the gap all the time. The placeholder issue is another concern, not to mention the problem that the lid might rip off some day. 😞 About the series itself there's no doubt this is one of the best series of the new century - especially the first 75 issues! 👍
Thanks for that overview of what's in this box. I didnt have the chance to collect this whole series, a big regret. And the Deluxe edition is too expensive and too difficult to track down completely now. So this looks like the only way to get the full/main story without breaking my bank. Also I appreciate the assurance that it collects 1 - 150. I saw in separate compendiums that it only collected to 149.

Sheesh. I just found out about the box set. I’m waiting for Ultimate Spider-Man vol3 and it’s only 6 months away which feels like a long time.
I think i prefer the deluxe edition, they are beautiful and easier to read- thanks for showing, now i know what to buy
I agree, would have loved to have gotten the deluxe editions... as it is, I have all the trades and I'm not sure buying this collection will be much of an upgrade.
The deluxe editions are really the way to go, the problem is a few of them are really hard to find at a reasonable price. I bought all 15 last year and I had to pay over cover for a few of them.
Wish we could get some beautiful Absolutes too.

@@MYTHNL90 If you check every source you can think of, you'll find them. My local library had a couple of volumes that they sold me for cover price. Volume 15 was the tough one for me!

This is an amazing series that should be on everyone’s list. At least try the first couple storylines. Go find the first three tpbs for cheap or borrow them from the library.
Super happy to have this box set as its one of my favorite comics ever.
Still holding out hope that DC will someday release it in Omnis. If they don’t, I’ll join the ranks trying to hunt down the rare and overpriced OHC set.
Nice overview! I’m glad I own the deluxe editions for Fables and Jack of Fables. I’m hoping DC collects the Fairest in deluxe edition soon and finally releases the Absolute Editions they had promised!
That box build is scary. I can see the paper hinge, holding the top on, is going to eventually rip or let go. You are better off cutting it off now to keep the box clean.
Not doing a hardcover version was a stupid move. It is pretty much just the same books that are already out. I am going to wait, they might still decide to do hardcovers.
I picked this up and it’s beautiful, but I do have questions about the box durability. But if DC ever gets their act together and releases Omnis, I’ll gladly double dip.
I have Compendium One already, but when this box-set is gonna be cheaper, i'll sell that book and replace with this collection. :D

I’m not sure about that box. Aside from how the books flop over when you take one out, you can see the paper covering the lid isn’t even glued flat to the cardboard uniformly. Seems like an unnecessary gimmick which would have been cool if it had been executed better.
My compendiums were printed in Canada and still look in mint condition even after reading them, maybe these new editions printed in the US aren’t as well made.
Does these 4 compendium have every fable story.Please can someone tell me I’m confused 😐

Thanks Omar for putting this video out. This is an amazing best series and one of the best I've ever read. I have the complete collection. Specifically:
* the set of 15 Fables deluxe editions
* the set of 3 Jack of Fables deluxe editions
* Fairest in All The Land hardcover
* the 5 softcovers of the Fairest spinoffs
* the 2 softcovers of the Cinderalla spinoffs.
I would love to see the Fairest softcovers put into a deluxe edition and a hardcover version of Cinderella. Omnibus editions would be nice, but I won't get them since I already have the complete deluxe editions. The only thing that would make me spring to replace my deluxe editions would be Absolutes and, like Lone Wolf said, I'm kind of surprised they haven't already done it.
Absolute or Omnibus releases are inevitable. We're all going to have to be patient. Btw I just checked Ebay, the complete deluxe collection sold for $785 shipped 7 days ago. You might want to reconsider.

I was gonna buy this. I have been waiting for years. The box seems cheap AF. It's also preposterously expensive. I could buy the four compendiums cheaper by themselves.

I would say it goes a bit long but I think it's a good series and Bill Willingham has returned and is continuing it from issue 151, there is also a prequel game by Telltale called wolf among us
@@tom3151 Yes, it definitely goes too long - the first 75-80 issues though are really fantastic, and some of the spin-offs and one-off books are great too. The quality of the art through most of the series is really up there as well.
I started reading it blind yrs ago. My local library had the tpbs. And now it’s in my top 5 comics ever. I fully recommend everyone giving it a go. Read the first three storylines or trades and then you’ll now if it’s for you.
It will not be complete with new monthly issues currently coming out.

The trend for DC's issuing these no-frills collections doesn't surprise me in the wake of the big lay offs in the collected editions department nfrom a few years ago. Marvel does a steller job in comparison similar to how they curated the cinematic universes of their characters. So sad.

Same, I’m not a fan of softcovers being that thick. I’m a fan of the Universe because of Telltales wolf among us, so I’ve been feening to read this. But I’ll wait for an absolute or Omni.

I loved the first part of Jack. Laughed my butt off. I really liked Cinderella too. Fairest was okay.
I’ve read every single spinoff. Some were amazing and others were horrible. So I’m glad this set only contained the most relevant side issues. Such a great story overall.
Spinoffs were hit or miss. Started off cool but fell off Jack and Cinderella needed to be focused more in Fables.
Very surprised Fables has never been collected as OHCs. Still holding onto my entire run of floppies.
It has been collected in OHCs, but several of the books are OOP

This was delayed so much that I cancelled the pre-order and ordered something else. It's awesome, don't get me wrong, I just lost interest

They’re a lot easier to read in bed! And I’ve been incredibly impressed with the newer compendiums that have been released. They hold up fantastic!
Read 70 odd issues and it wasn't for me.
Will they ever reprint those Fables Deluxe Editions ever??? I know volume 16 is coming out in a month or so, so it's just kind of crazy to think that so many of the volumes are just impossible to find. That would be by far my preferred way to collect the series. But it just doesn't seem obtainable if you start buying them in 2024.
Sadly that is on indefinite hiatus as the comics are on hiatus after the whole Willingham statement.
