Transport now works natively inside of Logic - ua-cam.com/video/zqopzEjCPX0/v-deo.html however as of posting this you won't be able to record with the pads. Continue watching the above video if you require both functionalities.
You obviously went to great pains to make sure this was as clear and accessible as it could be, and for that I thank you. fantastic tut which helped me as an experienced logic user, but new machine mk3 owner. Cheers!
My friend. You are a lifesaver. I just bought the Maschine Mk3 and was having the usual fun/honeymoon period with it as a beatmaker. But that, of course doesn't last long (as I'm not a club monster). What I wanted, was the exquisite sensitivity of the pads as a playing surface within my precious Logic. Whatever I did, it felt like I either had a standalone (kinda) drum machine, or some bizarre build-a-pattern-then-drag-n-drop-midi-files-into-a-Jules-Verne_mish-mash-of unrepeatable-setup-mayhem. In one, clean, coherent tutorial, you've given me the musical instrument I was hoping for oin the first place. Thankyou.
DUDE. This video is exactly what I've been looking for in terms of fully comprehending how the MIDI controller really functions as a device and not just a virtual plug-in running inside of Logic. Appreciate you! 💪🏽
Love this! One thing I added though was tap tempo. I set the tap button on the mk3 to mcu button 89 (click) and inside of logic went to key commands/edit then search tap tempo then click learn new assignment and hit the tap button on the mk3 and it works great! Hope that was clear for anyone who wants to try it
Dope thanks Ethan! When I tried tap tempo it went a bit mad for me, as well as with loop and click, Logic began acting strangely. Loop and click was flicking on and off. And the tempo tap wasn't giving me the tempo i was punching in. Not sure if something else I had set up was conflicting with it but I'll give it another crack because it's a great feature to have! And knowing that you've successfully set it up means that it does in fact work! Thanks bro!
whoaaaaaa i didn't know anything like this existed!!!!! fucking THANK you!!!!!! i'm so excited this shit is finally working after hours of frustration.
great video man!!! i have been trying to get maschine to logic to work thru midi for months to no avail...... and you hit it on the nail..with video.... thanks... i hope you are working on mac m1 integration with NI products... i will be watching..thanks again!!!!
Hey J P, glad this video was useful and helped you with your problem! I’m looking to get an M1 soon. Hoping all of NI’s products are fully compatible by then. Along with hundreds of other plugins!!!
You are an incredibly gifted and patient teacher, I've been trying to figure out how to do this since Maschine 1.0! You've explained it so simply and beautifully and I'm incredibly grateful. Thank you, sir!
Thank you so much Brother! What a great workaround. Not only did you show me how to use the MK3 as a controller, but you showed me how to bring the sounds into Logic!!! I've needed this for quite dome time. Cheers Bruh!
Hi Stefan. This is hands down one of the best tutorials on how to set up Maschine as a midi controller in Logic, even 5 years after you posted it. Question: whenever I load a new kit in the Maschine plugin in Logic, it is changing my group input from drumkit back to off, and all of my sound outputs are changing back to master. So every time I change a kit I have to set everything up again from scratch in the maschine plugin, even though I have saved a template, heck I've even set it as the default. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong? I have patterns turned off, but I have routing turned on in the maschine plugin.
Thank you so much for creating this video. I love the drum pads on the MK3 and was dumbfounded on how to integrate it with Logic. You've brought a lot more productivity into my life with this video. Cheers!
You are absolutely my favorite teacher!! This was a marvelous lesson and the only thing I lacked was to be shown how to save in mk3 as a template so that I never have to do that again. Thanks again and I am looking forward for more about mk3, NI Controller keyboard, and Kontakt. All of them new for me and my studio. :) Thanks from Sthlm /Jan
Thanks Jan :). Regarding saving you can save the template by right clicking on the template name and clicking export. And you can save the whole configuration by going to File, save configuration. These are both useful if you're planning on using another mission or sending the set up to someone. Thanks again!
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much! Your videos are super easy to follow and very informational. This is the only video I could find that works with the lates version of maschine. Thanks again.
Stefan, thank you so much for putting this up man, you're a lifesaver! Got my mk3 in yesterday and I'm up and running. You have awesome content on your channel and, as many other have said, you make a really great tutor. So thank you for all your videos, just got the Trap Attack DMD kit as a way of saying thanks (and cause it looks to be a cool patch of course ;-) Again, thanks a lot for all the inspiring videos and I'm looking forward to the next one!
This was awesome Bro! Your convincing me to go buy one!! Please post that video asap of the "deeper integration" you were talking about. Awesome job bro!!
Thanks for clarifying your absolutely correct. The MK3 acts like a plugin- in Logic with your method this is fantastic! being able to use Alchemy with the MK3 was my goal. Problem solved...thanks to you! Pads: I messed around with my midi connections and the control surface. I have a NeKtar P4 controller and it appears it was the cause of the issue ...once i changed the settings in Logic so that everything runs through my interface (Scarlett 6i6) and not the P4... i was able to record using the pads. Thanks again....your doing amazing work!.
Awesome! Glad you were able to solve the problem and get it working man! And you’re welcome I managed to figure it out and had to share! You’re the first person to give me clear confirmation that they have it working so thank you!
Thanks for your videos they were helpful. Right after learning how to do the setup you recommended, I saw on Native instruments site all you have to do is start Maschine before you load up Logic Pro x and it will sync. For me doing it this way, most of the transport bar works (except for restart loop, record count in and couple of other minor things) but you still get to use maschine with the main transport bar stuff in logic with out having to go back and forth in the instance menu when you are more focused on creating with maschine than mixing in logic.
Hey, amazing vid. Everything worked for me except the pads. I set the channel to 2 on both hit and press... followed everything but still no sound when I hit a pad. Could something have changed in Logic 10.5? It's weird as all other assignments worked. Any help very much appreciated, thanks.
If you can't find the 'EDIT'-part of your Control Surface Setup window. Do the following. Go to Logic Preferences > Advanced Tools > activate the Control Surface by checking the box.
This is great! So… use the MCU assignments in the Maschine Editor, then add the MCU control surface definition in Logic. That makes sense, as many control surfaces use MCU like Arturia, Presonus FaderPort, etc. As you were showing the midi CC assignments of the Maschine device in the editor, I couldn’t help but think, why not assign ALL the device buttons to equivalent Logic functions? That would be great, and it’s no secret what the right CC assignments should be for Logic MCU. Is that the advanced version you said you’re working on?
Hi Stefan, have you found a way yet to get Maschine MK3 triggering inside Logic without needing to be in Midi Mode? Its not ideal as you lose a lot of common indicators in midi mode and it would be a dream to be able to be able to record Logic just as you do into Maschine software.
also you mention at the end of your superb video that you are currently working on an even more advance set up to give you even more control....did you do that in the end and if so how can we do the same?
Thanks for the very clear and concise video, I'm gonna try to set this up, currently I'm arranging in the mk3 then recording the individual audio outs to logic, this looks like it would be a good way to use the mk3 with Logic's plugins like alchemy etc
Thank you so much Stefan!! Total precision and clarity !!! So nice 👍 Q: Why am i like in CHORD mode when i want to record in logic pro? Input seems to not work properly, because i can just hear the 1st pad in chord mode as i am switching pads,it is playing the note of the scale with the same sound (with the other pads)....any idea?
Hello, I've done everything that you said and it's got me close but i still cant record midi notes in logic. when i press record it still records it in Maschine. Any thoughts?
Where's the updated video that you spoke of at the end? can't find it on your channel. I really need the fixed velocity button and pitch strip to work.
Thank you! So helpful. Towards the end you said we can save the Maschine plugin settings as a Template or Patch...is this done within Logic or in the Maschine window somewhere? More info on that would be great. Your videos are the best out there for Maschine and Logic! Thanks again
Nearly everything is working...When I record, it still loops in the pattern setting within the Maschine window. It records in Logic the way it should, but it loops it in Maschine. How can a disable the patterns in Maschine?
An incredible feature would be to set those 8 buttons on top of the lcd screens to control control note repeat parameters and values like in the masculine sonftware when using the studio. I sold my old studio because I never like working inside of masculine software but I miss that feature soooo much and wish Logics note repeat feature could be countrolled by mascons mk3 buttons in the same respect! Think you can program this bro?? If you can I would be convinced to go buy that shit right now!!!
Hey James, sorry for the late reply brother. I haven't attempted incorporating the note repeat yet however I think it's going to be real challenging. The only way I could think of doing it off the top of my head is to use Logic's arppegiators but that will become very problematic as you'll need to always add MIDI fx arppegiators to your tracks and program them. I'm not sure if there is a way to do it via Logic's environment, I'll have to sit down with it again one day to try and figure it out.
Awesome and very useful Stephan! Have subbed. Quick question- can this whole setup be saved in Logic and Maschine so you can fire up the gear and go or does the setup need tweaking every time? Thanks again🙏
Thank you very much for the video! However, despite following the steps I don't manage to get the midi recording directly inside of Logic pro. Native instrument technical support did not solve the problem. Would any of you fellow producers be kindly available for advice on how to make it work? Thanks in advance to any gentle soul :)
How can you actually get productive with a workflow like this? I have Serato Sample and some logic stock sounds that I'd like to use together with the maschine I just bought, but is such a workflow really musically inspiring?
@stefan: hey man! Great vid! I just went through it and my record button will record in maschine but not in logic and I am also not getting and midi notes in logic, any suggestions?
Glad I could help Brent! I’m not sure they work you know but go to www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/mackie-control-mcu-parameter-id-codes-template.266581/ for all the parameters
Hey Raymon. Thank you! This setup is good if you don't own the Komplete Kontrol. If you already own it, you probably don't need this level of control from the Maschine as the Komplete Kontrol can handle transport.
I followed the video precisely, other than choosing a different color for group D but my pads are triggering anything inside logic....i wanna use the pads to record instruments, not drums inside logic. any help?
Hello Stefan, amazing tutorial! Thank you so much! One question though, If I need to add the NOTE Repeat/ARP button, which one would it be when it comes to assigning it? Thank you!
Man it almost worked in Studio One but it’s missing something. I can see the midi is being triggered when I hit the pads but now sound. Can you please help? I’m willing to pay for 1 hour of your time
Hey Bro... best video I've found so far! Thanks! Everything goes smooth until I get to about (10:30)... When I use Maschine as a plugin the record button doesn't trigger in logic. I get sound, but no midi events record into logic??? I can use it as a classic trigger for a logic sound, but that seems limited, as I only seem to have a 16 key range, starting on C2, with no way to change on maschine... Any suggestions on where it went wrong? Thanks for all the help! I'll check out your links above!
Thanks Stefan, this way I will have to assign everytime I load an instrument track. Is there a way that we can set all 8 knobs assigned to first 8 smart controls globally like the way you helped out setup pads using Mackie control.
Hello Stephan, in the logic "Control Surface Setup" I do not have any "virtual" input or output settings... only "Maschine Mikro MK2" Input and output options. Please help.
Hi Stefan! I am using Logic Pro X for a few years now and would like to move most of my production workflow to a hardware controller. I really love the idea behind Ableton Live & Push but it would replace my beloved DAW. That’s why stumbled upon NI Komplete & Maschine. Would you say that Native Instruments is a serious competitor for Ableton while having the opportunity of using Logic as DAW? Would NI Maschine help simplify my workflow of producing Trap and RnB songs instead of clicking, dragging and dropping? Also thanks for your awesome videos!
Hey brother! Thanks for reaching out. Although I have no experience with Ableton Live & Push I do know that using Maschine in Logic unfortunately will not do much good for your workflow lol. Maschine is amazing but it works best with its own software much like Live & Push. You can use Maschine’s plugin in Logic but you’ll work much faster if you switch to the maschine software in my personal opinion. Then potentially mix in Logic. Right now I use my maschine as a glorified MIDI controller inside of Logic as I don’t really sample. Thus it’s no different to just have a MIDI keyboard. If you want to do everything on the hardware go for maschine with its standalone software. Again I can’t speak for ableton but I’m guessing it’s the same.
Stefan Guy thanks for your answer and opinion! I’ll investigate further in the NI Komplete workflow and how to import the project into Logic Pro X for mixing. But since I am able to use NI Komplete either as plugin or as stand alone application I think you can do nothing wrong. Thanks for your help 🙏
Hi Stefan! Thank you for this tutorial. I have a query. Could you please guide me on how to set up the Maschine Mikro MK3 Transport with logic. Like I want to control the transport of logic through Mikro MK3 hardware. Please help me out. I finally got the MIDI mode working. Please help me out with this. I followed the steps in the tutorial but that is for MK3. I want help to set up logic transport with Mikro MK3.
Before asking my question, I would like to thank you a lot man ! Your Job is incredibly helpful, you can't imagine how much you help me right now. But I still got a problem with my MK3 inside Logic Pro X. I follow every step of yours videos, I connect with success my MK3 inside Logic BUT the problem is when I open Maschine 2 in logic as a VST in 16x Stereo. I follow what you say to do : - I'm in Pad D / + Pattern is delected / Then I go in "Group", put the Input and change it to Drumkit. When I'm playing, the notes doesn't appear in Logic, it's get stuck in Maschine VST and it isn't like in your video when you play record. Can you Please, please, please help me with that, I don't know what to do man. Thank you again for your great work. (Scuse my english, shout out from France)
QUESTION: If you record a snare directly into logic from Maschine, then add reverb (or any FX for that matter) will it reflect on the midi recording in logic's arranger. Will it reflect FX automation. And if you were to bounce that midi file within Logic to a new audio track would it capture all of that information in the new audio file? Thank you!
Hey Stefan. Thanks for a great video but why is it that when I drag midi from Maschine into Logic it creates a load of general midi tracks rather than just pout the midi onto the Maschine track?
This is working for me here on a MK1 too, so thank you! However, I am having an issue that if I change kits Maschine resets all my routing back to the default. I then have to change the Key Mode to Drumkit again, and also re-route all my pads to their own outputs which is obviously not ideal! Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
@Stefan Guy or anyone reading this is this still the only workaround or have Native Instruments come up with their own solution for both the transport and pads to work inside of Logic Pro X now and not to have to be in midi mode?
Transport now works natively inside of Logic - ua-cam.com/video/zqopzEjCPX0/v-deo.html however as of posting this you won't be able to record with the pads. Continue watching the above video if you require both functionalities.
Hi Stefan - are you still able to use the wheel and nav buttons etc to browse through sounds?
Yeah but not the MK3 Mikro.
Maybe i missed it, but why did you set everything to channel 2 again?
You obviously went to great pains to make sure this was as clear and accessible as it could be, and for that I thank you. fantastic tut which helped me as an experienced logic user, but new machine mk3 owner. Cheers!
My friend. You are a lifesaver. I just bought the Maschine Mk3 and was having the usual fun/honeymoon period with it as a beatmaker. But that, of course doesn't last long (as I'm not a club monster). Thank you. I was ready to throw in the towel on my Mikro MK3. Thanks for the thorough video. Now I can use the drum kits in Logic!
Love this! One thing I added though was tap tempo. I set the tap button on the mk3 to mcu button 89 (click) and inside of logic went to key commands/edit then search tap tempo then click learn new assignment and hit the tap button on the mk3 and it works great! Stefan Guy No problem let me know if you get it working. Thanks for the awesome videos can’t wait for more!

BRO THIS VIDEO WAS CLUTCH THANK YOU
Glad it helped!
This is a gem! thank you so much, Stefan!
Thanks and you’re welcome man 🙏🏾
This was awesome Bro! Your convincing me to go buy one!! Please post that video asap of the "deeper integration" you were talking about. Awesome job bro!!
Appreciate it James! Yep once I figure it all out *scratches head* lol.
I appreciate your efforts to get this information to us!! It helped tons. The only problems I’m having is , it’s not recording any audio into logic 😢
Thanks for clarifying your absolutely correct. The MK3 acts like a plugin- in Logic with your method this is fantastic! being able to use Alchemy with the MK3 was my goal. Problem solved...thanks to you!

Stefan the man. You helped me a lot with this video. Keep it up bro ! Good work
This is great and just what I needed! Thank you so much!
So much easier to record maschine into logic organically.
AMAZING WORKED PERFECT THANK YOU
MAN YOU WORK IS TRULY AMAZING HELPING PRODUCERS !!! LOVE STEFAN !!!
Hey Nathanel, glad I could be of help brother! And glad you got it set up and working correctly! Much love bro!
Nice one! You saved me hours of browsing, clicking and starting all over again😉🙌🏼✌🏼👌🏼

Brilliant tutorial. Thank you so very much. I was lost, but now I’m found.
Wow, Great Advance video. You're ready for the big times.

Trank you very much. Very clear explanation to a very complex topic. Happy New Year!
Thank you! Happy new year!
HEY R.E.S.P.E.C.T STEFAN.. Just got Maschine Mk3 so I'm at the mo, pulling my hair out..lol but it's all working fine after your invaluable tutorial.
Haha much love man! I know the pain first hand, glad I could share this with you!

I am by no means a gay man but I could listen to your voice all day. P.S. THANK YOU FOR THIS!!
Thank you so much ..bro you save my MK2 , I was about to throw it in the nex garbage truck this Tuesday...😁
this is damn helpful, NI and Apple should pay you for doing this
Thanks for the tutorial bro! Very well explained! 👊🏽
Yo brother, no problem man! And thanks!
Thanks a lot this video saved my life!
This a dope video. I can follow what you saying well. Love your channel Stefan
Thanks man! Really appreciate it bro!
What a great video. I'm setup and good to go because of you. Thanks.
Hey you're welcome! Glad you found the video useful and was able to setup successfully!
You are a Godsend sir, thank you for this!
Glad I could help out!
Thanks so much man, this really hooked me up after hours of head scratching :)

Thanks Rael. Yeah most def regarding Logic's plugins. Assigning the knobs should be pretty straight forward also. Let me know how it goes.
Logic Pro x 10.4 update just got released so we need a video on it right now !!!
Dope tutorial. I’ve set up everything in the vid thus far. I’m trying to configure the count in for recording. Can that be done via this method?
Great video.
Thank you !

Hahaha thanks Obinna! You'll be a pro from day 1 if you ever do decide to get one!
Me too.
Where's the updated video that you spoke of at the end? can't find it on your channel. I really need the fixed velocity button and pitch strip to work.
Huge help! Thank U so much sir!

bro, I can't thank you enough. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
To those with an MK2 follow these steps and adapt as needed. Topman Stefan
You're welcome!
Thanks for this video. Can you make the same template for Maschine MK1 ? I can't load this template in the controller editor with MK1 or MK2.
thanks my dude, mad luv
Glad I could help!
Your a genius 🤘🏼 thanks man !!!
Useful video, I set my button according to the video, but it didn't respond to logic Pro x, and the rest could be used normally.

Hey stefen have you figured out how to set quantize?
Perfect! Thank you Sir!
Awesome and very useful Stephan! Have subbed. Quick question- can this whole setup be saved in Logic and Maschine so you can fire up the gear and go or does the setup need tweaking every time? Thanks again🙏
本当にありがとう Thank you so much!

@stefan: hey man! Great vid! I just went through it and my record button will record in maschine but not in logic and I am also not getting and midi notes in logic, any suggestions?
Great video, thanks so much for sharing. In your opinion is there an ideal pad controller that works directly in Logic?
This helped me so much thank you. Do you know what the parameter ID’s are for the tap Metronome & note repeat buttons are?
Glad I could help Brent! I’m not sure they work you know but go to www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/mackie-control-mcu-parameter-id-codes-template.266581/ for all the parameters
Awesome video. Thank you. How does this setup differ from using a komplete kontrol with maschine, inside of logic?
Hey Raymon.
Thanks Stefan. I was successfully able to setup. Any way how I can assign knobs to logic smart controls?
Thanks man! Yep check out this: ua-cam.com/video/O-w6JJI5LGo/v-deo.html
Thanks Stefan, this way I will have to assign everytime I load an instrument track. Is there a way that we can set all 8 knobs assigned to first 8 smart controls globally like the way you helped out setup pads using Mackie control.
The Transport buttons also trigger high pitched notes in my case
Hello Stephan, in the logic "Control Surface Setup" I do not have any "virtual" input or output settings... only "Maschine Mikro MK2" Input and output options. Please help.
I've got the same issue. Is it even possible to do this with the Mikro MK2???
Same problem here 🙁
This guy talking like ☝🏾🤟🏾👈🏾
Seriously tho, this is a very helpful video thanks!!
HELP! Can you record chords into logic? So far I can only record single notes when using melodic instruments..
Unfortunately not Ev :( not as far as I'm aware at least!
Stefan Guy no biggie, thx for all your help!
Great! Simply great. Subbed
Thanks Paulus!
Please tell me you’re going to upload the template for this.
THANK YOU
Before asking my question, I would like to thank you a lot man !
Are you in midi mode while trying? press shift+channel in the left top corner of your mk3 and try again. Hope this helps 🙏🏾
@@beatsbydaku This question and reply saved me hours of frustration! Thank you to you both!!!
Thank you
QUESTION: If you record a snare directly into logic from Maschine, then add reverb (or any FX for that matter) will it reflect on the midi recording in logic's arranger. Will it reflect FX automation. And if you were to bounce that midi file within Logic to a new audio track would it capture all of that information in the new audio file?
Thank you!
Yep :)
thanks
Thank you!
You're welcome sir!
perfect! thank you
You're welcome!
Hey Stefan. Thanks for a great video but why is it that when I drag midi from Maschine into Logic it creates a load of general midi tracks rather than just pout the midi onto the Maschine track?
Do you know how to use machine mk3 keyboard chords and step functions inside logic with your setup?
Stefan urkel on da beat
This is working for me here on a MK1 too, so thank you! However, I am having an issue that if I change kits Maschine resets all my routing back to the default. I then have to change the Key Mode to Drumkit again, and also re-route all my pads to their own outputs which is obviously not ideal! Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
@Stefan Guy or anyone reading this is this still the only workaround or have Native Instruments come up with their own solution for both the transport and pads to work inside of Logic Pro X now and not to have to be in midi mode?
