I loved Sherlock Holmes while growing up but started only two years ago to read more detective/mystery/crime books. My absolute favourite is Oscar de Muriel's Frey & McGray series. They're all absolutely amazing and thrilling, plus the characters are all quite human and feel very real. Sadly I haven't been able to get into Agatha Christie's books as much as I would've liked. I read six of her books and liked two of them. Maybe a little tip for any new videos, I find background music (when someone's talking) quite distracting and in this case it's just as loud as your voice. Personally, I might prefer no music at all but for the next time maybe a lower volume?
I haven’t heard of that series but I’ll have to check it out! And I totally get it with Agatha Christie. I don’t think all of her books are hits but for the most part I like her writing style. I get what you mean. I have been trying to play with music in the background. I find it hard to focus for me without music but I agree that maybe lowering it a bit is better. Thank you for the suggestion 😊
Hi! I've just discovered your channel and realize this comment is very late, but mysteries are my favorite genre, so I want to share a few of my favorites! I apologize if you've already talked about these in other videos. The Peter Decker series by Faye Kellerman. The first dozen or so of this series are the best. The Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo. The Kate Shugak series by Dana Stabenow. All of these are best enjoyed when read in order. Thank you for sharing your love of mysteries. Mistress in the Art of Death was great, BTW! I plan to watch all of your videos from the beginning. 🙂
I am currently reading The Thursday Murder Club, and I am hooked. I just need to stop binge watching UA-cam for Detective Fiction novels. I am more of a fan of British Scotland Yard or DI/DCI novels. Martha Grimes, Deborah Crombie, Elisabeth George, Charles Todd… i just realized those are all American authors. 😂 I also like Ian Rankin, Reginald Hill, P.D. James, among many others.
I think so! I'd recommend maybe starting with the Sherry Thomas books - A Study in Scarlet Women or Neskesia Afia - Dead, Dead Girls (a little creepier) since the mysteries aren't hard to follow and can ease you in to it. Or to try The Thursday Murder Club which is more fun but a little more confusing with timelines.
I loved the Thursday Murder Club and the second mystery in this series. The third one comes out this fall, and I can't wait!
I still need to read the second before the third comes out!
Also the word is murder is one of my fav books. Especially after being the die hard fan of the author’s most famous series, Alex Rider.
I thought it was a cool idea having it from his point of view! I haven’t continued the series yet but I need to!
@@brandywinebooks They are all great
Loved the video. It’s so highly produced, this channel deserves way more subs ❤
Thank you! 😊

I hope you enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club! It’s such a good series in my opinion!
Magpie Murders by Anthony Horrowits is also amazing, 2 stories in one

Did you know the Agatha Christie books you’re holding are the first books in both the Ms. Marple and Poirot series?

@@starleneeshe’s not that quiet. The music was distracting unfortunately
Might be better if your music is softer?
