      so if i was born sexual attracted to little kids is that ok? like don't get me wrong i don't hate her i think it whatever but i was just wondering if you really thought about what your fighting for. cause yes she is rich and famous and is openly a transsexual but where does it end. soon all of America will be fighting for rapist to be accepted. I was just wonder where?

    • @JSidhom
      @JSidhom 10 років тому +174

      That's the slippery slope argument and I don't think it's valid in this instance. Laverne was born with a male body but identifies as a female. By changing her appearance to more closely match the gender she knows she is, she isn't harming anybody. It's a major life choice which requires a lot of bravery, and in my opinion she deserves a lot of respect.
      But to compare transgender people with pedophiles and rapists is absurd. There's very obvious harm done by both active pedophiles and rapists. Laverne isn't harming anybody, she's just being herself.

      ***** what if an adult wants to be a child again so they can have sex with children? Would it be ok then? You know, if they're trapped in the body of an older man, is it ok to get plastic surgery to look 14, so they can have sex with 14 year olds? you are one thing from birth, sorry to break it to you, if you are born with a penis, you're a dude, born without a penis, you're a lady. Transexuals... thats like painting a baseball red and calling it an apple.

If they decide to become a woman, so be it. They are now a woman. If they choose to be a man, they are a man. And I am not ashamed of myself.

    • @semoo2987
      @semoo2987 9 років тому +4

      Noelle S. weight has nothing to do with it .. and it is a poor example .. fatness is sickness and it could lead you to a lot of problems and the key to get better is to lose weight .. but this guy hated him self so much that he was ready to try to change his gander but never to face his problem and he thinks if he can be a woman that's will make it better .. but it will not you are who you are .. he simply gave up .. every one has problems but if he want to change he must get up and fight not take the easy way out that never changes you .. accept your self and fight don't quit because the moment you do means you have failed ..

    • @norray19

      ***** even if that is true, that does not make laverne a woman. just because you believe something in your brain, does not make it true. someone who suffers with anorexia, will view themselves as fat. does that make it true because they believe that in their brain??? of course not. laverne will never be a actual woman, nor a female. you cant change your sex. everyone should have the freedom of living out their lives as they choose, but society shouldn't be forced to accept their delusion or their "feelings" or something we have to make new laws for.

      I'm more shocked that someone is shocked by the comments. One, it's the internet. Two, humans a terrible by nature and have thus far largely refused to stop acting like humans and start acting like civilized beings. Three, so many people have been brainwashed from a young age to hate by religious establishments that I don't really think it's possible for most people not to hate most people in the world.

      +demian haki try to understand that that's not any good excuse to be so hateful. if trans women confuse you then okay, but voicing this and doing so in a way so horrible as some comments i've read cannot be justified by that. you don't need to say that trans women confuse you, you don't need to say anything of the sort unless you're specifically asked, so it's really just unnecessary unkindness. this isn't me accusing you of anything, i'm just aware that a lot of hate derives from ignorance, so it can't hurt to take a second and think about how what you say or write might affect people :-)

    • @demianhaki7598
      @demianhaki7598 7 років тому +1

      ella I agree that it's certainly no excuse for hateful comments or rude behaviour.
      Beyond that, I think it can sometimes actually help if people have a chance to be politely open about any struggles or insecurities that they have around an issue, because it gives everybody a better chance to understand what the others are thinking and thus a chance to resolve issues quicker, with less misunderstandings and more patience.

    If you have a hard time understanding trans people. or if you have an aversion to them, do some research and watch some videos by trans people. And if, at the end, you're still weird about it, don't voice really ignorant, offensive opinions online. I feel strange about trans people and I have a hard time empathizing with their struggle, but I realize that that's a fault in me, not in them.

    • @dragonjoy1313
      @dragonjoy1313 10 років тому +34

      beautifully put Ray! i have 'studied' transgenders for awhile. it's a VERY difficult road! breaks my heart what they have to go thru. so even when someone doesn't understand, i'm thankful that people like you, will take the time to try to understand. bottom line is, you don't have to understand, just accept. as long as it's not violent or hurting anyone else, it's all good.

    • @StormWildSpace
      @StormWildSpace 10 років тому +18

      Joy Hodges it is indeed. As a trans woman myself, i try to be strong and ignore the haters, but when you are bombarded from every angle all the time, it's VERY hard to stay upbeat.

    • @Hype3rshadow
      @Hype3rshadow 10 років тому +3

      Joy Hodges Acceptance of transgender is not the problem here, it's the promotion of being transgender that most people find offensive. Laverne should be praised for her acting, not because she is a transgender actor. That in itself is almost a form of discrimination.

    • @dragonjoy1313
      @dragonjoy1313 10 років тому +9

      doesn't matter what people find 'offensive'. it's not their lives. nowhere in the constitution does it say we don't have the right to be offended. being a transgender is not catching. you can't catch it and they are not out 'recruiting' people. they are who they are. and if one transgender, coming forward can help a teen in the same position who feels they are all alone, then their 'promotion' is well worth it. they don't hide who they are. and i wish i could say all people were that way. no matter the background.

    • @Hype3rshadow
      @Hype3rshadow 10 років тому +2

      Joy Hodges Nothing is more appalling then getting a belief you do not believe in shoved down your throat. Why bring the constitution into this? Legality has absolutely nothing to do with this as it's a morality issue. Like i said, coming out and making other teens or whatever feel better, that's great. Good for the transgender community. But just because we may be accepting of transgenders doesn't mean you can force other people to be accepting of them. Those people do not share the same beliefs as you and as a decent human being you simply have to accept that. There is no need to promote transgender people the same way religion does not need to be promoted, on public viewing shows such as this one. It does matter what other people find offensive, and this strange apathetic attitude towards non-LGBT supporters is what gives that community(More specifically supporters like you) such a bad rep.

    To all of the people leaving nasty comments, who are you in this world? Really? Who the fuck are you? I'm always amazed at how willing people are to broadcast their hatred, and unintentionally their own self-loathing. Happy and confident people don't ever look for opportunities to put others down, to be cruel, to discriminate, or just to be hateful. They just don't. Happy people who are secure with who they are have better things to do with their time. So before you leave your ignorant, hateful, juvenile insults, think about this: you are showing countless strangers who you are as a person because your judgments define nobody but yourself.

      NecessaryEvil It really doesn't matter what you do or don't accept. Not your life, not your problem. You don't have to "accept" a damn thing, and nobody needs your approval to exist and be 100% who they are. If you take an issue with that, that is a reflection on you, that is YOUR problem, not anyone else's. It is nobody's job to prove themselves as worthy of being treated humanely by other people, and if you think you're somehow judge and jury on who is deemed worthy of being treated with respect and basic human decency then maybe you need to figure out what is so greatly lacking in your life that you dedicate so much of your time to caring about lives that do not affect you in any way, shape, or form.

      ***** So why can't gender be what you want it to be? That's a freedom we have. These are our bodies and as long as it doesn't hurt other people, then there Is no wrong or right for doing it, generally.
      Being gay or bi isn't a choice, if it wasn't then why don't you choose to be a gay for just 1 second? Tell yourself that you're attracted to the same sex and see if it works for you. It won't because unless you're born liking the same sex, you will never be attracted to them.

    • @andrewnguyen2052

      apply green Gender is completely different from sex. Biologically they might have male anatomy, but if they identify as female then they are a female. Trans kids know from an early age their gender is different from their sex, so if a biological boy wants to be a girl, it's completely fine. By you disagreeing with it, you're alienating a large group of people with already high suicide rates. You may as well just straight up be telling transsexuals to kill themselves. If you're okay with being inhumane and doing such thing, then you have a right to do that. I just think you're really fucked in the head of you do that stuff.

      yes, sit down with your 6 year old and explain to them how mutilating your genitals to the point of never being able to reproduce because you felt like you “identified” with a different set of genitals and wanted them instead isn’t something strange, something that i wouldn’t consider very healthy or a sign of a stable mind (an emotionally stable person usually doesn’t want to cut off their genitals, nor does anyone with a healthy body have mutilated genitals) you can try to explain the normality of this to your kids and they probably won’t believe you. The only way i could accept transgender is as evidence of the chaos of nature (chaos compared to our previous romanticized notion of order and consistency), yet a chaos of evolution at all costs, so in a way still in a natural progression, where nature has corrected itself to solve overpopulation, where people are starting to be born wanting to mutilate their genitals and never reproduce (they usually adopt kids) and thus we are in a temporary hundred year shift of nature rejuvenating itself at the cost of human reproduction and sanity.

    • @ZaffyTaffy
      @ZaffyTaffy 5 років тому +2

      @@NakedThorn1999 or... maybe a human shouldn't be defined by their ability to reproduce? Would you lather at the mouth with such vitriolic contempt for those who are infertile against their own wishes? No? Then perhaps you should focus on matters apart from your unhealthy and frankly disturbing obsession with what is betwixt another's legs.

    • @NakedThorn1999
      @NakedThorn1999 5 років тому

      Abi Tolliver no silly, i think you missed my point. You see, i agree the human complex it’s extremely nuanced and contradictory. It is the transgender who is obsessed with that betwixt their legs, they can feel however they want to feel, but to fulfill their image they have to mutilate their genitals? do you see what i mean? Were they to truly place their inner character above the body, then they wouldn’t care about mutilating their genitals, according to their logic, the fulfillment of their inner self is through correction of their body, hence their own true obsession with genitals and not mine. Furthermore, they go on to indulge in superficial and childish images of their counterpart gender to fulfill their inner self, often over the top makeup, lavish wigs, heels, tight dresses. So what do we have? a person obsessed with the body, yet breaks every principle of the body by mutilating it, hence a good definition of insanity, if they truly believed in their inner self, they would be satisfied with that and care not for the body.

This person was born a male and chose to have surgery to appear to be a female. If I'm born black but claim "I was born the wrong race" and had surgeries to appear to be white (for arguments sake)...I would still be a black person pretending to be something I'm not. Uncanny valley. For some Americans, or those raised in "ultra masculin-istic" societys, people hate people who they can't differentiate their sex. In other words, people hate Androgyny. It goes to their preference for being able to determine "right from wrong as they believe it" (though this is just an example). Anything that goes against this perception makes them unable to know what to feel (the gray zone), and that scares people sometimes. So they weren't able to tell whether Laverne Cox was male or female. But they know she is transgender-ed. That is where they direct their hate toward, and give a defined emotional feeling toward "the uncanny valley" situation. That or they have confused boners, and it scares them into rage. Its either of the two.

    I don't understand why people have to be so negative about transgender or homosexuality or anything else they don't understand. The way I think about it is what if one day my child, brother, sister, best friend would say that they are gay or they feel trapped in the wrong body. Would it make me love them less or not accept them? No, it would not. Being transgendered or gay is not something they chose, it is something they are borne with, just like I am born a heterosexual women who is very happy to be in the matching body. I don't get why people hate people who have done nothing bad to them.

Let people say what they want about this woman, because if a person lacks the empathy, kindness and UNDERSTANDING it takes to know that not only should you support transgender, but at the very least have the decency to TOLERATE what you disapprove of. Let everyone have their opinion, but if you choose to hate a person as wonderful as this lady for no other reason than that she is transgender, I pity you. I pity your family, your friends, I pity everyone and everything that you touch with your closed mind and hateful heart. And If you want the world to accept your opinion of her, then respect my opinion of you.

    Sorry if I sound rude but I hear a lot of transgendered people say your genitalia doesn't define your gender.. well if it doesn't then why even have a sex change in the first place? think about it they spend all their money for the genitalia reassignment surgery but yet they all say that it doesn't determine your gender, so basically you're telling me you spent money to look like someone you thought or just simply want to be. If you really felt like the opposite gender then you shouldn't need surgery just to prove that to people. But I still love everyone ^^ including Laverne. :3

      Genitalia doesn't define your gender, BUT at the same time, when you are trans it's very easy to feel very uncomfortable and depressed with the way your body is. We call that feeling gender dysphoria but it's important to note there's also a social component to dysphoria and some trans people feel more ok with their bodies than others. I'm a trans woman myself, and I do feel those feelings, and they are weird and hard to describe but surgeries and hormones are helpful for some of us (please remember that not everybody gets surgery, and that lots of us also choose to go on medicine that affect our hormone levels and those drugs cause changes too).

      I know a guy- who represents himself as a man (no surgery to become the opposite sex and no cross-dressing) but refers to himself as a lesbian. He falls in love with and has sex with women, however does not have sex as a regular hetero-baby-making male would do. (no penis inserting the vagina) he has sex as a lesbian would have sex- with a strap-on or whatever (so no use of his genitalia). He is also called Adriana- he uses male toilets, wears mens clothing- although the occasional bit of mascara! He represents as a lesbian man, in this case he does not define his gender through his genitalia at all. Infact, he does not really define his gender (rigidly) in any shape!!

      I feel like there was a character on the L Word with a similar story. Interesting!

      yes no I saw the L word before I met him- very interesting, I still don't 100% understand but if he knows where he's at that's all that matters

      I don't think transgender folks get surgery to "prove" anything to anyone. I think surgery might make them feel more comfortable in their own skin, sort of like getting your outside to match your inside. I think it's also important to remember that transgender folk don't really have a choice in the gender they identify with, so it's their choice how much money they spend on surgery

      Ahh we have a philosopher here.
      The truth doesn't need to be propagated like the bible needs to.
      If god was real, the American Natives would already know about him and the first settlers wouldn't need to explain them what god was.

      I wonder if you'll feel the same way when they start replacing actual women with transgenders like they're doing in women's sports.

      @@bakhembrutalknowledge well for 1 ) Trans women ARE REAL WOMEN.
      2 ) They are not "replacing" women, but INCLUDING ALL WOMEN, as they should.
      3 ) go eat a Snickers. You're a douche when you're hungry.
