Thanks for sharing, really helped me work out what I needed for my van. Happy traveling
Glad it was helpful!
This is a good set up and one that I am looking at. I already use the RUTX11 as my home router. Just one point to watch the RUTX11 does not have two modems and can not load balance between the two sim cards. It will only act as a fallover if one sim goes down. To load balance you need to buy the RUTX12 which has two modems and can load balance across the two sims. Another one to look at is the RUTX14 which has a cat 12 modem as opposed to the cat 6 in the RUTX11 and 12. (faster connection basically but it does need extra antennas)
Thanks a lot! The video and the information were really really helpful. 🙂👍 Best, Michael & Alicia
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video, well explained
Hi Stephen. Thank you, and I hope it was of some help to you.
Hello Helen and Andy, I have used a RUT955 router and had disappointing results whilst roaming.....maybe it has been badly configured; i am thinking of upgrading to RUTX11 may i ask about your roaming experiences, Thanks in advance Steve
Hi Andy, we've just had the Maxview Roam fitted and pleased so far. Can I ask what SIM cards you are using? Also is there an app that you use alongside your router? There is an app with ours but we are having trouble logging onto it and that is stopping us being able to boost a free campsite signal.
Hi Steve. when we're in the UK, we use a Smarty sim and a GiffGaff sim, both on PAYG with unlimited data. these sim cards are on different networks to make sure we get good connectivity in rural areas. The is no app to access the router, you just use a simple webpage through your web browser of choice. Teltonica, also have a remote networking facility the you can access the router when away from it.
Thanks for a great video. How did end up choosing the Poynting aerial? What made you pick that over others? I’m set on getting the RutX11 but can’t decide on an aerial (it’s going to be fitted on a boat). TIA
Good choice! I went with the Poynting antenna as it had multiple inputs for the RUTX11, dual mobile, dual WiFi, and GPS, and was the antenna recommended by Teltonika at the time. I’m very pleased with it, and have always managed to get a good signal even in the most demanding of situations
hello Andy, how is your experience with the combo Teltonika RUTX11 and the Poynting MIMO 3 15? Would also like to install the system and would like to know in advance whether the system is a worthwhile investment. Thanks
Loving your videos. Was wondering whether you wire into leisure battery or van engine battery? If the former then presumably doesn't work when you're driving, and if the latter does it drain engine battery?
great question, we have a 360ah leisure battery bank in the rear of our camper, which is charged via solar, mains hookup, or the engine when driving, so the rutx11 is always powered and running. Thanks for watching too
What would I be losing with the MIMO-3-15 antenna?
Thanks for the well explained setup 👍 Have you used this system in Europe? Would be interesting to know how this performs in other countries. I will be buying this setup based o your review.
Yes I have, I use Tesco Mobile (100Gb @ £20) and Tiekom (300Gb for €40) when i the EU. the systems has been rock solid, performing well in even i the most challenging of situations.
@@HelenAndyTravel Fantastic and thanks for your response, greatly appreciated 😊 planning to caravan in Spain and France next year so thinking this setup would be the ultimate setup for sure.
Hi Andy, thanks for your interesting video. Does the RUTX11 have an antenna for the WIFI it sends out inside the camper ? Or how does it works ? Greetings from Belgium.
Yes it does, It comes with a complete set of antennas, However, I used a Poynting antenna on the roof, and its output is strong enough to pass through the skin of my campervan without any loss.
Thanks for the video Andy. Please confirm my understanding...
The Poynting antenna is the ONLY antenna in your set up.
Does your camper have a metal roof?
I'm particularly interested in the Wi-Fi range as I might be flying a drone from mine. Any ideas on range? Thank you!
That is correct, it's our only antenna. The wifi signal transmitted via the external antenna is very powerful and easily penetrates the campervan metal roof.
Hi! I’m trying to figure out how the teltonika uses the SIM card data. I want to use one for my home internet but I’m not sure if the devices connected to the teltonika would be using mobile hotspot data or just the regular phone data for the sim card in the device. Thanks for any information!
The Teltonika uses the data supplied via your mobile sim cards, or via boosting any public wifi network (or private wifi network you have permission to access}
Hi what service provider do you use for EU travel and what sort of costs ,thanks
Hi. Thanks for the question. I'd recommend having a look at:
RWG Mobile, 200Gb (special offer) for £20
Tesco Rocket Pack, 100Gb for £20 (with Tesco Clubcard)
Popit Mobile 100Gb for £25
All with full data allowance in the EU. All UK based PAYG providers and easily topped up abroad.
What router where you using in the before speed test.cheers
Hi. I was using a cheap mifi from EE
Hi Andy, Those cables, did they come with the teltonika? or did you buy seperate and if so what ones will i need?
Hi. All the cables you’ll need come with the RUTX11. It also comes with individual antennas for the GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G and Bluetooth. They’re very good, but I wanted a complete antenna solution, hence my Pointing roof mounted.
@@HelenAndyTravel Thats great! can you leave me a link i can purchase the exact same kit. Thank you :)
Hi. Im so sorry for the late reply, ive only just seen your message: If your still looking to buy a RUTX11 here is the link:www.4gon.co.uk/teltonika-rutx11-lte-cat6-router-p-7639.html
@@HelenAndyTravel thanx again :)
Hello guys I ask you kindly to tell me the store where I found the antenna to buy it , thanks
Hi Costel. this is a good European distributor: www.solwise.co.uk/a-mimo-3-v2-15
Hiya looks like a great set up so you've had it a year , any downsides ? How does it fair in Europe? Thx
Hi. We’ve had no issues with the system, it works great in the UK and throughout the EU. You just need to make sure the sims used have sufficient data, and can be topped up easily. At the moment we use RWG Mobile, 200Gb for £20, Tesco Rocket Pack, 100Gb for £20, Popit Mobile 100Gb for £20, all with full data allowance in the EU, and all PAYG
@Helen & Andy Travel hey thx for your reply sounds perfect for what I'm looking for very informative 👍
What sim card do you use while roaming abroad?
Hi. I use a Vodafone.IE sim and a ID Mobile sim, both have unlimited data
Good morning,
I'm contacting you from Italy and I hope you can help me because no one here is able to provide me with useful information
I need to set up a wifi network on board my campe.
I mainly take photos and videos and it is therefore important for me to have a good internet connection available most of the time. I am evaluating for the configuration a poynting system antenna coupled to a Teltonika router and I would like to know from you which is the best router and antenna that allows me to use sims from different telephone operators and possibly allow me to make a hotspot with my telephone. At the moment I don't have a sim dedicated to data and having so many gigs available on my phone plan I would like to take advantage of those by avoiding constantly removing the sim to insert it in the router. Is there any way to avoid this? Another very important thing for me is being able to do a good scan of the wifi networks in the area where I will be parked in order to eventually be able to connect to a free network nearby. What do you recommend for such a need?
A thousand thanks
Hi Claudio. We use Tiekom mobile as they have a 400Gb sim for €60 that works all over the EU & Europe.

Thank you for this, very important info. Guys, can I get a hold of you please, fb or insta or email. I have a few questions, we're getting ready to travel to Europe from the UK and I have so many questions I don't know where to start from
Hi, sorry for the delay in replying, how can we help you?
