Thank you, Geoff, for this very informative video! I am hoping to successfully take my plants across the dormancy period. I wish to grow them and get them bigger. The blooms are so pretty!
My indoor cyclamen (NE Texas, USA) has been blooming since I bought it in February. It even bloomed through our hot Texas summer. I have watered it and deadheaded the seedpods. It's not showing any signs of going dormant. Will it continue to bloom through the colder months October through April?
A good question and no definitive answer I'm afraid. Hybrids are bred for longer flowering seasons and dormancy is either selected out of the new hybrids, or it's manipulated so they flower in the 'wrong' season. I can only give you my own experiences in my own environment. So far, after several years of growing various hybrids, every single one of my plants has eventually yellowed and naturally gone dormant during the period of warmer weather and brighter light i.e. summer. I even experimented with trying to keep them going - but they weren't having it. So it could be that you simply have one of those plants where its dormancy has been manipulated. I'd just keep watering as usual as long as it's flowering and has green leaves. Once they start to yellow and it slows down blooms, then you can reduce watering and give it a dormant period. Hope that helps.
I used to think my cyclamen had died... and they went into the blue bin..... just found out about the dormancy this year Who knew? Not me for sure. I now have three plants on the kitchen window ledge one has just gone over into dormancy the other two still have flowers... not going into the blue bin this year...
The more unusual looking varieties seem to be much more common in Europe than the US and it isn't fair. I'm going to have to get us to invade and force the EU growers to export them to the US.

Yeah it's odd they aren't available over there. They'd be easy to transport. Maybe we should start a new venture...
@@Grow_Up_Man55 oh, sure, go for the peaceful solution🤣
