Please take Dragons Breath and Blast Wave in m+. 2 icicle graphic should end in Glacial Spike, not ice lance. Sporecloak nerfed, go 2x Shadowflame (might transition blue silken lining, but they are the same base item).
Should I dump my azureweave asap? Been wearing it all season. Admittedly stopping paying attention about bis for awhile.
#frost4life
@@starryvacancy since s2 comes out tmmrw, yeah you'll want to transition off it
@@Manather thank you for the video. 5* as always. Even for a frost mage m+ player only, is it worth to change azureweave into 2x shadowflame in s3?
What would be theoretically the best slots for that? Same slots of azureweave (shoulders and feet on my case) or legs and feet/waist? thank you!
@@NNOITRAftw azureweave got hit hard, so definitely worth to drop it. As an m+ player I’d probably transition to 2x blue silken lining. As for the place of it, eventually it will end up on cloak and bracers, but early season for ilvl you can put it in any piece that sims well for you, just avoid tier slots.
@@Manathertyvm for the feedback - appreciate it
The most generous streamer ever sharing their entire setup from WA to Addons and layout. You didn't just help me with learning the spec but also the best setup to use.
Subbed.
This is your best guide yet! I really appreciate you continuing to make full guides every season even if not a ton has changed.
Thank you so much @Manather, this guide has helped me out a bit, I was just looking for some fine tuning for my gameplay and you brought to light some nuances to the Frost gameplay, that I was looking for answers for!
Thank you for the video 😊 It's always nice to see your guide at the start of the new season ❤
Thank you for your unending dedication to Frost, your information and knowledge is greatly appreciated.
praise the lord manather
This is insanely helpful, thanks for the walkthrough. I immediately upped my damage with the right aoe rotation, that cone of cold refresh to double the frozen orb is something I didn’t come up with on my own. I appreciate the text into the video gameplay, really helped me understand
A drop before the season even starts. This man is a HERO! Thank You so much. From a busy dad gamer this helps a lot
Gosh you are amazing! Followed you a year ago and my comp broke. Finally getting back into dragonflight and playing. Felt lost again but you bring it all back together. Thank you so much for these great videos!!!
without having seen the video yet, i am super excited and really waited for it already :D
Thank you for all your Mage content Manather!
Thanks for helping out the community!
thanks dude im new to the game and learning m+ atm in low key. your guides helped me so much.
Great to see you back, big man. Frost finally getting the respect it deserves and it wouldn't be possible without legends like you
Well done sir, great tutorial. I tried to watch a tutorial to help my girlfriend with her sewing machine yesterday and it made me appreciate how impressive your tutorials are. The sewing community has no concept of how to do a tutorial. Just a person fumbling with a phone set to record. They made threading the machine so complicated, it made feral or arcane rotations look simple.
Thank you for the amazing guide. Extensive guides like this really help bridge the small pockets of missing knowledge of some of the mechanics at work. Looking forward to the arcane guide if you have the opportunity to make one. Love the streams too!
Already made an arcane guide, but I removed it since the arcane rotation changed significantly after it was released. Its the same rotation as 10.1.5, but on opener you do the filler rotation till 18s on siphon storm -> first big burn.
Eehhh finally
Bro love your guide, I spent the whole flight watching and watching, and when I arrive to the hotel I used it.
Very useful Info, Weak Auras and Similar, hope I can found you online on twitch to give my twitch sub.
Thank you for the video and the guide !!
Ty for content mr manather ❤
Here it is! Thanks so much
just watching this video was a 20k dps increase. thanks manather
Subbed, Thanks!
Good work
This Manather seems like a really cool dude.
havent played frost in years, came back to it for this season per raid roster. man target swapping, etc, too much brain. can i just enjoy a class where i can actually look at the boss and mechanics too without albert einsteining the game. this is crazy. either way great video, ive learned alot and im sure it gets easier with memory. but dam. after playing a ret paladin, this is so much work, ret i just flop around jumping while spamming big dps and i can heal myself lol, its just fun
You could be an ivy league professor, you break this stuff down to such an elementary level that anyone can grasp. Super appreciated.
Thank you sooo much !!!!
thank you so much for this guide. this really helped me with my rotation and priorities on procs. i was doing a 5 min parse and my damage overall is around 180-190k dps in 515 ilvl gear. does that sound about right or should i be doing a lot more single target?
awesome Guide as always mate!
Do you got a copy Link for the 2 builds tho?
Thanks again and keep it up
Hi Manather! Thank you for the wondering guide! I have a couple of questions that would always confuses me while playing frost and was hoping you could have some answers. First one is that, with the 4 pc, do we just GS once we reach 5 icicles immediately, or trying to fish for a flurry with frost bolt so that we shatter that GS? Also, do we hold ray of frost if Icy Veins was about to come off cooldown? Thank you!!
😘
Best guide
Amazing! Could u do one for fire? I have been struggling with advanced details on it
Thanks for the video! Very well done! Question for ya - what WeakAura do you use for the icicle counter bar in the middle of your UI ?
I exported afenars icicles wago.io/Fp6YDrZ4O
Hi there, new to playing frost, do you have a video of explaining your WA? Appreciate it
thanks for the guide, do you still take ray of frost in s4? even in fort weeks?
good guide
You helped me with increase my dps by a lot! I was listening tot he wowhead guide that stated to never cast a glacial spike unless you can shatter it. Now I’m spamming glacial and shatter when I can and I’m pumping! Thank you!
Is flurry stronger than FoF? If I’m casting frostbolt and have brain freeze then FoF procs, should I cancel casting? Or finish and waste FoF on winter chills?
Never cancel casts, its the worst thing you can do in wow generally speaking since it introduces dead time to our rotation, same as moving poorly. Flurry is stronger than fof, but we only prioritize it if we are currently casting a spell, so we dont overcap them.
Hello! Thanks a lot for the video it helped me understand a lot of the core rotation. However I still have a small question regarding Glacial Spike. It might just be me being absolute trash still but I sometimes happen to have 5 Icicles and no Flurry/Winter's Chill ready. Should I hold onto my 5 icicles until I can apply Flurry or do I cast Glacial Spike on cd? Please help!
cast Glacial Spike on cd
@@Manather Thank you so much, that solves a lot of headaches!
Hey, gj with your guide Manather! One question about ice lance management, if I got the 5 icicles but I've at least 2 fingers of frost waiting cuz of frozen orb is worth to throw one or two of them to not overstack+ having the damage of fingers of frost + gs with winters chill + winters chill icelance? Or is just not worthing overcap icicles for just a little bit of more damage from icelances? I'm currently 420 ilvl with trash gear so I understand gs is not at max potential and dmg comparisions are not acurate to what an endgame build will looks like on details. Thanks in advance!
Not worth to overcap icicles, glacial spike really is just the most important thing in your rotation now
so for ST if you dont have any way to shatter the GSPIKE just send it? dont want to hold it? and with ST i also sometimes end up with two Finger of frost proc as well do i prioritize gspike first with flurry or should i send the FOF first before i do gspike
ty!
Big fan of those graphics compared to prio lists with tons of conditionals
How far back from the mob do you have to be for flurry to always get there before glacial spike?
Should I focus to craft a gear right now since I haven't touched M+ or Normal Raids? Just heroic dungeons and LFR
hey, i have a dumb question, if i do not have the TSET, do i still have to use the glacial spike on aoe targets or is it to bad and i shouldnt use it? iam not sure with that, thnak you very much this video is awesome just switched from fire to frost, the other question is, when i go the normal aoe build (not subzero) do i have still do nova them before glacial spike?
yes you should use glacial spike even without the new tier. And the novas are used after glacial spike, and yes if the mobs are freezable you do always want to nova after the glacial spike - its so you shatter both the main target one and the splitting ice one.,
Great tutorial.. i'm completely new to wow.. i've been trying to get into it since the game came out but always just quit after the free trial ended. This time I bought the level 60 boost to force myself to get into the pvp and give it a shot. Do you recommend playing the actual campaign at least once before jumping into pvp or is that even necessary? I've never been a big pve fan and I think that's why i've never gotten into wow but I heard the pvp is great.
I would just jump into pvp, pve has very little relevance to it, what you really need is to learn what other classes can do so you understand how to play against them, so the best way is just to queue.
"it's a triple on use seasonnn, we love that, we love that" lmao
just to clear up something, the "root to shatter" priority. are we needing to get either freeze/ice nova/frost nova off before glacial spike hits the target? aside from freeze which I suppose you can put down right before glacial spike cast finishes. I feel like ive been doing it backwards lol which doesnt make sense in my mind
Yeah, you just queue it after the glacial spike like you do with flurry.
Now that we're a few weeks into the season, are there any dungeons specifically that you'd recommend running the Splintering Cold/Frostbite (Freezable) build on?
on fort weeks subzero/frostbite can be pretty good in ataldazar and DHT, pretty much everything is freezable in both those dungeons.
This guide is awesome! Really helpful since I’m new to frost mage. Also love the transmog. What head piece and shoulders ?
they are from our tier set in 10.2
Also had another question. Do you always cast GS when it’s available? Even in AOE with frost fingers up?
You will. GS does absurd amount in AoE if it shatters. Yeet it into a group of freezable enemies and use Ice or Frost Nova @@RealAndyOriginal
OMG, legend
which talent build do you recommend for raids?
Hello. Thank you for this material. Since you are among top mages from the game can you tell what is decent DPS that forst mage item lvl 480 should make on M+ like 18-20? There is no mechanics in training room, you can just stand and cast spells but in real life you need to avoid AOE etc. The time you move- you dont cast. You dont cast- you dont make DPS. I am frost mage too. I know the rotation, but my DPS is far below my comfort zone. Just would like to know what level of DPS is good enough/normal for my class. Thanks.
This was nice guide, just restarting wow account and i feel better with this guide.
Do you have a guide with al your macro's and keybind you use in the game?
I don't, macros arent really that big of a thing to have as frost aside from removing the reticle on blizzard and freeze. Keybinds are personal preference but you can see all mine during the gameplay sections of this video.
I started playing my mage again for the first time since shadowlands so I havent crafted anything yet. Still stack shadowflames for M+/raid? Also heard the silken mastery patch and Amice of the Blue shoulders are just as viable now depending on uptime, but haven't seen a lot of data to compare everything yet. Thanks for your videos theyre very helpful!
If you’re planning to do mostly m+/heroic raid I’d craft blue silken lining. More raid and I’d craft shadowflame.
hey man, best guide learned frost in 2 days to an acceptable level. But what about ST rotation with M+ talents? i have problem with all the fof procs from frozen orb/blizz.. should i stack fof with winters chill on ice lances or rather do ice lance after i spent winters chill on other stuff
St rotation doesnt change in m+ talents, its fine to spend fof into winters chill
@@Manather tyvm sir
came back a second time to re-watch the part about embellishments cause i couldnt remember why you said wrists were the best place to put one of them. but i couldnt find a timestamp, did that part get cut ?
Yeah, they nerfed sporecloak so it was inaccurate. Atm just go 2x Shadowflame again. Later in the tier we will likely transition those pieces to blue silken lining, but they use the same base item.
Love the guide. I have the staff + trinket from nymue. How and where to use it optimally?
Both on cd, for the trinket delay your ray/cms till 2nd flurry. So opener is Frb -> flurry -> nymues trinket -> IV -> 2x IL
What should i invest my first spark on?
Are you using a @target macro for blizzard or @cursor? Great guide! ❤
@cursor, I don't believe @target works for ground targeted abilities at this time
Do i use double time warp (BL) at once or am i gonna wait with the second timewarp until my next icy veins/trinket/ brust phase?
wait for 2nd TW till next icy veins
Hi Manather, if we go by the 5th example combo 4:56 and you have 5 icicles up so then you glacial spike into flurry and ice lance x2. When glacial spike hits is it going to benefit from winters chill? when i've tested it on a target dummy it's not consuming the winters chill and isn't 100% critting.
it consumes a winters chill that is refreshed by your flurry, since flurry has 3 projectiles. This interaction wont work if you are too close to the target (generally at or slightly out of melee range), and its reasonable to not see 100% crit rate on GS unless you have like 34% crit.
@@Manather ah yes I see it now, very easy to miss. Thank you for replying
@manather if I don't have teir set as yet. Does the 2 target rotation still count? Especially on council fight
yes
Great Guide, thanks.
Question: when you're at 2 icicles, you frostbolt into a flurry. If it goes bad, you have 4 icicles now. What do you do then?
It seems like it would be way more dmg to do another frostbold and do the 2nd combo in the example with glacial spike, no? Am I missing something?
you would then Ice lance -> Glacial Spike, the glacial spike is still into winters chill, and ice lance when its frozen is far better than frostbolt
@@Manather got it, thanks!
This might be the first tier in a while that you can actually play frost mage on progression
hI !!
I Use this rotation AOE
Icy Veins + Frozen Orb
-> Comet Storm -> Cone of Cold
-> Frozen Orb -> Comet Storm ->
Blizzard -> Shifting Power -> Blizzard)
Could you tell me why it's wrong, yours is a little different
I fight AOE, I read that the right thing to do is to use ice nova next to the spike,
and in ST fights use flurry next to the spike
Could you tell me if this is correct?
Ice flows is insanely good but it just feels so bad to use. Also the second you busted out a chart of Frost rotation priority you earned my sub.
Great video man ! Howeevr, I somehow have my elemental pet not attacking when in combat, anyone has a solution ?
Hi, which WA is showing your Icicles count on the bar under Winter's Chill snowflakes?
wago.io/Fp6YDrZ4O
quick question that i havent been able to figure out..
why is it that sometimes when i have 2 icicles and casting frostbolt for the third into flurry to get 5 for glacial spike, sometimes flurry only procs 1 icicle making it 4?
flurry naturally only procs 1 icicle, having more is rng
I notice in your builds you take Cryo-Freeze x2 , instead of Spellsteal and Remove Curse . Is there a list of dungeons in S4 where Spellsteal and Remove Curse are or aren't useful ? E.g. in Ruby Life Pools it's quite useful to steal the fire guy's shields .
Cant remember if this was filmed on ptr, but i leave spellsteal and remove curse talented always, moreso the dmg parts of the build to follow than the utility.
@manather is there an Option in threatplates that shows me if Mobs are freezable or not ?
not that I know of, I made a plater script that shows it that you can find in my recent videos
I'm a little confused on the ST prio with flurry. It says "if no brainfreeze, hold for 3 icicles".
Are we not supposed to use it after a frostbolt with only 1 or 2 icicles?
With a natural flurry you want to hold it till you have 3 icicles, which generally means using it after a frostbolt where you have 2 icicles while casting frostbolt
whats the gear youre using? you link doesnt work for me at least
how good is Augury of the Primal Flame ? i thought it is kinda decent or total dmg cap is the problem for frost ?
Its not close to our best combos
do u spend flury on 2 stacks or 1 if u have only 1 stack and brain freeze proc or u save it to shatter glacial spike?
Just use it if you have it.
Trying to understand how you got to 5 icicles 11:40 you were at 2 then cast frostbolt flurry which gives 4. Did splintering cold proc?
For explaining mistake at 11:27
Not really a question but just want to confirm I understand this detail: I get that I'm sending glacial spike even if I don't have flurry, but is this a situation we try avoid by holding last stack of flurry till 3 icicles?
But if that last stack is a brain freeze proc we use it instantly, even at 0-2 icicles, because else it prevents us from gaining more potential brain freeze procs?
If we get unlucky and don't get another proc, we send and don't shatter.
Correct? Ty ❤
Asking because I'm giga stacked on gear now but my dmg still feels a bit disappointing. When looking at critrate of GS i was only at 60% so I think I need to hold more flurries (but not brain freeze)
Everything you said is correct. Holding natural flurries for 3 icicles guarantees the shatter on GS, and a lot of times your brainfreeze procs end up being used at 2 or 3 icicles since you were spending fof before starting a frostbolt -> flurry.
@@Manather Tyvm as always
If you are fighting a pack in Which the primary target is unfreezable but the other ones are, do you flurry + freeze or no?
there is a whole section of the video dedicated to this topic, but yes
when I cast clacial spike into flurry my glacial spike does not crit and I have 2 stacks of winters chill remaining. do I need a certain speed cap for the combo to work?
Having 2 stacks of winters chill remaining is how it is supposed to work, no special interaction just dont be overly close to the mob when doing this. Also its not a guaranteed crit, just a much higher chance. Make sure you are queuing your flurry by spam pressing it at the end of the glacial spike cast.
So praticaly you must freeze the mobs that are freezeble.. i done that any time in dungeon the litle problem is that any abbility of the other players take out the freeze of the mobs .. so my question is they still get the debuff of being freeze? so you can benefit in crit with other spells? thank you. :)
Freezes last for a minimum of 1s, if you are using them correctly thats all you need.
Thanks for the comprehensive guide.
I dont unterstand the flurry holing till 3 icicles: Is it, that if we have 1 icicle and we have brainfreeze proc we flurry after FB, but if we have 1 icicle and we have no brainfreeze proc, just natural flurry, we hold flurry, spam FB till we have 3 icicle and FB>flurry>GS?
technically frostbolting with 2 icicles counts as 3. But yes you are correct.
@@Manather Ah, wow, I didnt know that FB at 2 Icicles counts as 3. Tested it and it makes sense with guaranteed shattered GS (and sometimes icicle proc).
So the decision to hold a flurry after a FB will be only at one icicle. Great! Now I can squeeze some little more dps out, ty!
I have a question about brain freeze. If i get back to back brain freeze procs with nothing up. Do i just send both of them?
No, you want to consume your winters chill prior to sending another flurry. Brain freeze itself essentially doesnt matter, its all about flurry usage rather than the buff.
Hi ty for video. I had just a 2 questions, one about furry, if i have to delay it till gs can beneficiate of it or use if proc at first/second fb?Second is about trinkets if we want always maximize mastery and play with trinkets that grant it or use intellect/versa trinkets (simcraft rate them better).ty
Use procs on first/second FB yes. We don't always use mastery trinkets, if you want only one on-use this tier your best combination would likely be Belor'relos and Augury of the Primal Flame for instance.
ty
@@Manather
is there a reason we use GS followed by a flurry, im finding that GS > Flurry doesnt consume the winters chill debuff. is it just to get the ice charges to keep the roation flowing?
it consumes a winters chill that is refreshed by subsequent flurry hits. It is shattering the GS.
Please, help me sir.
You say:
"What follows are import codes for Shadowed Unit Frames and Plater. Bartender can't be exported but I included the base blizzard UI import which is set up much the same. "
But I can't import PLATER. And how u import that "ui blizard"? Can't figured out.
Ty u in advance. Great work!
the plater import is a bit tricky since it goes very far to the right and then has some short lines under it, just ensure you copied only the import for plater and captured all of it and it will work. As for the base blizzard ui, if you open edit mode in game you can import those settings.
I dont understand 😂
I played frost a bit last season but mainly fire , i wonder just its still ice lance fastee then glacial spike in case u got 1 winter chill.on target and cast glacial spike into que ice lance ice lance will consume winter chill before GS?
yes
for your M+ build do you ever recommend not taking the glacial assault talent and instead taking cryopathy, chain reaction, or frostbite (with subzero)? i see glacial assault on every single build and curious if you've ever simmed without it
It is a very high value talent point, I would never drop it. Most of the talents you mentioned are much weaker in certain or all situations than it.
thanks for the reply@@Manather
May be an odd question. But what’s the general ST rotation after opener? I’m good at that, spiking well. But then I run out of dps and icicle generation….
The st commentary section should be good for that, shows quite a lot of tome post opener
Hello mate, until I get my 2piece or 4 piece, should I play the exact same I've been playing in 10.1.5? Atleast in keys. Or something changes without tier aswell?
I meant 10.1.7
only changes with 2 pc, but this have a minor effect on gameplay prior to 2 pc so might be good to get into the habit of doing them
What is the opener for the AoE/m+ build BUT on a single target?
same as normal except without ray
Can you show your macros, like ice veins trinket if exists or mb i see two cone of cold. ty
Hi! Very cool guide! Tell me please what spec is the easiest for pve?
easiest to perform at the highest level is arcane, but it can be a bit weird in m+ due to mana.
Hey I'm not sure you'll see this...but how come for ST and those scenarios we don't save flurry for before glacial spike so we can shatter?
How come we do flurry into two ice lanes and then glacial spike?
We save natural ones, but we generate so many you lose too many casts holding a brainfreexe
Quick question, why glacial spike into flurry and not the other way around? does glacial spike not benefit from winter's chill?
because glacial spiking into flurry still benefits from winters chill. Flurry combo section should be clear on why.
Switched to mage recently and I see Frost simming a decent bit higher, but logs are heavy Arcane for this raid. Just curious why that is... Are people just comfy with it from previous tiers or does it just line up better on most fights?
its meta so a lot more people are playing it, and it lines up well for several fights. Frost is still quite good on multiple raid bosses (over arcane even) and fully viable on all of them.
Great guide! Does frost still stagger Lusts or do we stack them?
We ideally hold for 2nd icy veins, but if you get an extra use over the encounter you would stagger or even stack them. In that priority.
@@Manatherokay, I see you say if we are going to get another use then we might want to stack, in M+ do we jsut stack it up for a big first pack? Or stagger?
So its fire the simple spec now?
