I love the South Point buffet. My favorites at the brunch, are the loaded mashed potatoes, stuffed bell peppers, enchiladas, mongolian bbq, broccoli beef, omlettes, and the sugar free desserts. Their iced tea is really good too. I don't like everything they have, but there are enough things that I do like that makes this buffet pretty darn good to me.
Your review is spot on. We stayed here the last week of July, so I dined here twice for dinner and once for the breakfast buffet. My experience was on the weekdays, so I can’t comment what the weekend meals are like. I did dine here Sunday night, but it’s the same menu and price Sunday-Thursday. The line to eat here is always the same as the video shows people waiting. Sometimes the wait is long because they are short on staff and have one or two cashiers. I did experience a shorter wait time on one night where they had 3-4 cashiers. A lot of items I tried were either over cooked or institutional food. The value is in the prime rib. It was well seasoned and the carver will give you whatever cut you want. The price with a player’s card is a bargain considering other options when craving prime rib. Thanks for taking the time to post an honest review of this local’s casino. I’m just glad that some buffets are returning and are offering reasonable dining options.
I always stay at the south point when i am in Las Vegas. I like the "standard" Breakfast Buffet on weekdays. Pretty inexpensive, delicious omelets, good coffee, and i like the french toast as well. Eggs Benedict - yes, not more than "OKAY"... I don`t need much more, so for me this is the perfect place. AND: very nice staff (i am a bit handicapped, and they are always nice and helpful there). Of course for dinner i also prefer other places (if you want a bit more than standard). Looking forward to May next year.... (Just booked :-)) Greetings from Germany!!!
i always enjoy the south pointe. if you dont want to stay in the middle of the strip and want a little more quite place, this is it. rooms are always nice and clean and the price is more than right too
thank you. the prime rib looked very yummy delish. i fully agree in that if you are wanting a certain food item, eating other offerings because they are there may not be the best way to enjoy.
Honestly there are much better prices for Prime Rib. Mine was big because I requested a giant thick cut. My favorites for Prime Rib are Jerry's Nugget, Ellis Island, Magnolia's at 4 Queens, and some others. I don't want you to be disappointed... because there are much better places.
I was at the Sunday Prime Rib brunch buffet at South Point yesterday and it was quite good. The prime rib was good as was the smoked salmon which together are worth the price of admission. All the other food was just a bonus. BTW, the price is now $25.95.

Nice. I was just there last weekend but on a Friday night when they had the seafood and unlimited crab legs. The line for that was super long but the food was worth the wait especially for about $45 a person I believe.
Best prices at State Line... I used get hotel rooms at Buffalo Bill's for $7. Also good at Mesquite. But a bit of a drive for me (both locations). But yes... good prime rib deals.
the muffins at the bottom get hard because they have to keep the food at a certain temp, so, sadly it dries out many foods that sit in the tray a while.
I always feel like I get a lot of value for my money at Southpoint. I stay downtown but always try to make it to the Southpoint for a couple hours every trip.
I subscribe to several Vegas foodie review UA-cam channels and the gentleman who critiques these restaurants is the absolute best! He's by far the best Vegas food critic. I too love prime rib and I also eat a lot and his views are valuable for me. I'm not a huge fan of the South Point buffet but for me it's worth it for the prime rib. But keep in mind this buffet does not serve prime rib for lunch during the week. They have a tendency to overcook their brisket and their turkey isn't anything special so I don't recommend this buffet during the week but I recommend it for dinner and for brunch on the weekends.
Take out "doggie bags" OK?? Will they allow you to take home a remaining portion of the Prime rib? I doubt if I could eat an entire slice...especially with some many other items to try. Thanks1
