Merry CHRISTMAS to the whole world. Christmas begins with Christ, let's deal with it. Astounding atmosphere, very uplifting rendition. Merry CHRISTMAS! ✝️🙏🎄🌠
I grew up in a very small town in the northern Iowa. We had one church, a Norwegian Lutheran Church. Even though there were less than 500 people in our town, all the surrounding farmers were also Norwegians with one family of Swedes. We let them come to church anyway. On Christmas morning, we opened our presents early, played with them for a half hour or so, and then got dressed for church. It started at ten. You had to get there early to sit in the church instead of the basement. It was huge, a beautiful Gothic brick building with two steeples, a bell that could be heard for a mile at least and stained glass windows on the sides that went to edge of the roof. It was probably over thirty feet with a 16-foot rose window in the front. It seated over 800 people! The service started with a small brass band, the organ, and 3 choirs in procession walking to the front singing Joy to the World with 800 parishioners singing with them. It rattled the rafters. I went every Sunday until I left for college and have some of my fondest and most cherished memories of it today, 70 years later. I miss it today. People are to busy to go to Church Christmas mornings, they go the night before. That's okay I guess but I always loved those services, even if I couldn't bring my favorite toy, I always got a free bag of candy afterward . This started when I was 4 or 5, later on I played in the band and sang in the Cherub and Junior choirs also.
Doces lembranças, deve ser linda a igreja que você congregou ou ainda congrega. A minha igreja também oferecia um saco de doces para as crianças e parou de fazer os cultos de Natal dia 24 ou 25. Feliz Natal com Jesu nosso Salvador.
My grandparents took me to a Finnish Lutheran Church in a small town in Northern CA when I was quite young. It no longer exists, because most of the 2nd and 3rd generation Finns inter-married and don’t speak Finnish. But the government of Finland provided ministers to Finnish Lutheran Churches in the U.S. to benefit their people who had to emigrate for economic or other reasons. I fondly remember the pastries that were warming in the oven and eaten after the services. Unfortunately, I don’t know the Finnish language. I recognize it when I hear it being spoken, but don’t know what is being said, lol.
