    I just got a phone call from an insurance company I applied for, is it legit to have to pay $125 total for coming on board and to get licensed. I have no experience selling insurance. Also how long did it take you to get licensed?

    • @sincerelyempress
      @sincerelyempress  4 роки тому +3

      Aquarius shawty Totally legit. A lot of agents make you pay for your own license as insurance Incase the license is too hard for you and you give up. Normally you would be reimbursed but be sure to ask that.
      The short answer is
      I took my exam after 1 week of starting.
      The long answer is
      I started working on my pre license (a requirement you have to get before the license that ALSO costs money) after my second interview (which was months before I actually started)
      You can get your pre license and license FASTER but I was still working my other job, in school (see other video), and a mom/spouse. So I did everything accordingly.
      Your boss may require you to do all of this within a certain time frame as well

      when you say closing do you mean closing the sale? If so I was mostly serviced based but when I sold life insurance I prepared for different scenarios. My advice would be to watch some videos on sales closings or see if your company offers training videos that actually provide catchy closings and scripts and you pick the one that resonates with you & use it everytime have it nearby so you don’t choke up.

    I loved this video and hearing your opinions on working from home! I recently took a commercial insurance service position, cried everyday and ended up quitting 2 weeks later. They wanted me licensed in 4 weeks by self studying along with learning their systems and procedures. It was so overwhelming and I developed a hatred for insurance. I’ve had a few weeks to cool down and analyze what I didn’t like. I feel like training was all over the place and not steamlined. I was also really unimpressed with their extremely outdated technology and way of doing things. They were still using programs from 1997! You had to check multiple places for tasks and submit the same info in multiple places.
    I’m so torn on what to do. I have an MBA but can’t find a job that pays a livable wage. I thought about taking my time to study for the license to see if I really like it because even though I wasn’t making huge amounts of money, it was still a heck of a lot more than I’m making now.
    How do you feel about your job? Are you uncomfortable you’re not using your degree? Do you genuinely enjoy insurance?

    • @sincerelyempress
      @sincerelyempress  4 роки тому +15

      Isabella G thanks for your sharing your experience with me. It is very easy to get overwhelmed when so little time is provided. 4 weeks wouldn’t have been enough time for me to comfortably study for the exam. When I was hired at my job I had to take the test the following week or two after BUT I had already been studying prior to my start date. So far I like insurance but it’s not for the weak. (Not calling you weak just using a common phrase) I feel like it can be stressful MOST of the time but I enjoy the actual work. I feel like the actual work is easy to do. I don’t feel bad about not using my degree because a degree is just that. Something you can always use. Besides, MOST people don’t use their degrees. I think that maybe you should give it another go. Maybe this time try a different company or agency that will allow you more time to study based on your learning abilities. Sometimes it’s not that we can’t grasp the info but we may be parents, already in school etc, and really just need a little more TLC. Thanks for watching and I hope that you will subscribe

So that we can have it electronically as well as in writing. The idea is that you will be able to look in my cookbook and see everything I did in a day. • @sincerelyempress
      @sincerelyempress  4 роки тому +5

      Thanks for watching I hope that you will subscribe as well as thanks for the compliment. It depends on where you work & who you work for. A lot of small employers are very strict on us keeping our salaries confidential in the office. I was always under the impression that service would get paid a higher BASE because we maintain the business and have lots of roles. I believed that sales would get paid a lower Base (if any) because they bring in business and can earn tons in commission. So if you’re a bomb sales person you could make more than a service person who is stuck with base salary due to commission. Do you see what I mean? But this depends on the office.

    What was your major in school if you don’t mind me asking. I graduated with my B.S in marketing so I’m wondering if this is a good career for me to get into sales and marketing. I have an interview tomorrow. ☺️
