I'll stick with the Grapevine. And I'll give them time with Videos. If they bore me I'll skip the videos but I'll continue my home subscription and viewing the Grapevine online.
They need to put you in some of the videos to ease the transition for us. I miss you Josie. ❤️

Humm ... this I find not interesting and decided to skip it. I'm probably not the only one. Maybe a video of the new editor, explaining what "new direction" the Grapevine is going, would have been better.

This was nice and done well, but it was too long. Bored with seaweed after first few minutes. I was looking in the background to see if Valur & Polly would perhaps be there.
No luck. Miss them dearly. Maybe instead of just picking seaweed off the rocks, one of them could throw a ball?

Thanks for uploading this video from September. I have no issue with Shuruthi but this does not help me move on and I still feel terrible that the RK has "let go" the people we all respected and are so fond of. I have not rushed to cancel my membership or unsuscribe at this point but am still unsure if I will stick with the channel. At the moment I am waiting to see what happens.

My husband and I enjoyed the reporting by Shruthi on seaweed foraging. I have nothing negative to say but I believe the Grapevine does not understanding why we enjoyed listening to Valur so much. Number 1 he is Icelandic and reports as someone who has grown up in Iceland. We are not looking for someone from another country talking about Iceland. I could talk about Iceland after my visit but it would not be the same. He did not report the news or other events the way that they would have been reported in the United States and THAT was a huge reason to listen. His take on the English language made the reporting interesting and required active listening to understand fully what he was trying to say in some instances. We found it informative to hear the Icelandic take on events and politics in the United States reported in a way that someone from our country would not report it. All in all we miss Valur and are undecided about continuing to subscribe. We will wait and see what happens.
We have since decided to end our subscription and membership. Listening to Valur was a breath of fresh air during the pandemic and we miss him. We have not found the content to be of interest to us since his departure.

Sadly I'm with your feelings here in Missouri USA!! Had hope to visit a second time Iceland and hoped awesome tour with Valur & Polly as well!
This desire evaporated quickly after his last broadcast with Polly's farewell walking away on lava flow a last time after he threw Polly's ball one last time on camera! I hope Polly, Valur are safe, healthy!!
Indeed, miss terribly Valur unique engaging reporting from the crap here in USA AND MISS Polly's wagging tail & patience fetching her ball!!!
Current content not THE same and most likely I will quit looking very soon for what was here before, as not apparently remotely the desires of new "normal" managemt direction, sad indeed!!!

Personal bucket list includes seeing aurora. Learned that travel costs to Iceland were reasonable Researching info regarding Iceland I chanced across Reykjavík Grapevine Covid derailed travel plans. The grapevine became a staple for following conditions and restrictions. We missed the aurora but lo and behold came the volcano. We spent a week in Iceland. Valur and polly were our weekly guide. My dog Bronte was riveted to the TV whenever polly was on. They are missed

Seems to be a seaweed revival in the culinary world. It's a bit of a thing here in Scotland too.
There is nothing to criticize on this edition of grapevine. I know Valur and everyone else wish you all the success for the future but we, the audience, will still miss the old crew. Great job though!

That was good. We know that seaweed is an under-utilised 'vegetable' in european culture, so I am glad somebody is making something of this apparently free resource. But I hope the coastline does not get stripped bare by large-scale operators. Would like to know more about the fishing industry which, as Shruthi mentioned, plays such a large part in Icelandic life.

As a transition video, after the unwelcome news of the departure of people who have come to feel like friends, this was a weird choice. Is this really the tenor they are moving towards? I'm going to miss Valur and Polly but the seaweed is very interesting and a beautiful beach. We have many of the same species here in NS, Canada but only Dulse is traditionally eaten. Unlike most Canadians, my family has always foraged for staple foods such as many wild greens and mushrooms.

Interesting to watch but not the same channel as brought us local news and (when erupting) volcano news. Just as well recorded in September as it would be too cold to be outdoors dressed as they are in December! Clearly there is an untapped food market with seaweed. Looking forwards to future videos with interest ...

It seems like there was no direction or format in this video. I know you wanted to showcase seaweed in cuisine but it was extremely boring how this was done. I would have liked to know what dishes, what restaurants, where to get these dishes, how are these seaweed prepared, what sustainability could be gathered by using seaweed, what dishes could these different types of seaweed be used in? This seems so unorganized I’m in complete shock. I’m trying to give this a chance, and I hope that you guys can look at the past videos and see what made watching these videos so interesting and captivating. There seems to be a of comfortability in front of camera, a connection that made the viewers engage more with the host.

Let’s all enjoy some nice relaxing - and not forgetting - free - videos from the Grapevine whilst we see what happens. Watching two people chatting on a walk by the gently lapping sea - lovely and calm.
It’s going to be a bit odd round here for a while, but let’s give the team some time to find their own voices and always remember there are real people on the other end of any conversation.
And now I want sushi - tuna belly please!

I gave this the benefit of the doubt and watched it through to the end but I found Shruthi as dull as dishwater. How could anyone think that this (regardless of when it was filmed) would be a suitable replacement for Valur, Pollý et al? It's a shame because Gisli seemed so interesting and this could have been so much better with a host with an ounce of charisma (and one who can pronounce "foraging" - Gisli did it correctly).

The Northern French collect the stuff while „pêche à pied“ and make kind of a pesto with olive oil, lemon, salt and sugar with it and eat it on a slice of buttered bread. It’s delicious.
Just don’t eat too much because of the very high iodine content. They say you can basically eat every kind of seaweed but not all of them taste really good.
They collect mostly the red varieties including Irish Moss and also the sea lettuce.
Next time would be nice to get some close shots of the varieties of the collected seaweed though.
