Thanks for the idea of using a tractor to spot/move the covered hopper cars at the grain industry
Another question comes to mind. Boy would it be cool to see a rotary dumper in G-scale. The detail that it would have... 😱
When I had a LPG plant in Indiana there was an old wood grain silo operation still in use. They had a large front end loader with a coupler mounted on the back. The front end loader was straddled the tracks and it was used to spot cars. Of course the rails in that small silo yard were down in the dirt. We a siding for receiving LPG tank cars.
Excellent advice 👍👍
I see Lots of BIG STEAM being run on this layout...
Remove the brick building in background and move move the grain bin background to the left 👍
Nice layout! Love the track-ter at the end, makes sense.
The interior of your buildings look amazing. Another alternative obviously is to just glue in photos all around... It's not as nice... Quick fix.
👍👍👍
For your new branch, what about a real shallow relief building that is maybe 3 stories and just covers the thermostat? It could have lots of openings (windows or slat vents or something) so it would still work. If 3 stories is too high for the location maybe 2 stories with a peaked roof?
Wow, that was really cool ! I was into HO when I was a teen, but at 58 I'm starting to think about it again. I have a full basement that would allow a substantial layout.
Restart it...volume comes back. At first glance, it appears you're putting 10 lbs of layout in a 5 lb bag. Take a step back, widen your gaze and you're adding operations potential. Like the real world, not every spot gets switched every day. Adding extra spots, you could switch the dumper one session, the lumber yard another and the other spots in yet another. You might have to do a pull and re-spot to get to a customer or door...even more potential!
I would know the the ground cover used coming out and around the rail shed
Looking good! Perhaps a flat where the silo/dock are so you can adjust the lumber yard slightly to alleviate it being cramped up to track. Progressing well!
I mean sound LOL
If you keep your super glue in the refrigerator it increases it usable life by 10. I am still using super glue i bought 6 years ago.
How about a scrap yard or a customer that needs product delivered by tank car to add some variety of rolling stock?
Joey, Got a question. Looks as though the clearance is going to be tight (possibly an interference) with the new siding and the branch main leading to the rotary dumper. Just looks that way to me. Looks great 👍
no volume Joey
