  • The Kyosho Mini-Z Buggy is a 1/24-scale machine that can fit in the palm of your hand, but it's got next-level quality, precision and performance. Fitted with the legendary Kyosho Optima body for the nostalgia fan, or the modern ZX-5 world-class racing machine, the Mini-Z buggy the most sophisticated, high-quailty, FUN mini machine you can buy.
The mini-Z Buggy features a shaft-driven 4WD drivetrain. Interchangeable pinion and spur gears give the user the option of changing gearing for lower speeds with quicker acceleration, or milder acceleration with blazing top speeds. Gear differentials are fitted at the front and rear of the shaft-drive, which help to get all the power to the ground while still maintaining maximum traction.
Four-wheel independent suspension features oil-filled coil-over shocks that absorb all the bumps and jumps you can put in the Mini-Z buggy's path. The suspension features dogbone driveshafts to get the power to the wheels, and allow the high-tech suspension to do its work at the same time.
The electronics and power system in the Mini-Z Buggy have the benefit of over ten years of design refinement from development for the Mini-Z cars. The high-power speed controller not only has the ability to handle high-performance aftermarket motors, it has seemingly endless precision in application of the throttle. This makes acceleration as smooth or as violent as you want it to be, and unlike toy RC cars, it allows running at any speed you choose, from a slow controlled crawl to blazing fast top speed. There's also an expansion plug that allows the use of an aftermarket gyro, which greatly improves control and stability.
Two unique modes are built into the speed controller's software, allowing for exciting racing with your friends. The training mode limits the maximum speed of the buggy to half throttle. This allows a new user to get used to the precision controls of the Mini-Z Buggy without going too fast for your skill level. Then there's a "chase" mode, in which the throttle under normal operation is limited to about 70-percent of maximum, and with the push of a button on an optional 3-channel transmitter, the Mini-Z Buggy gets a short burst of 100-percent throttle for a short period of time. This allows increased speed for passing, but it's factory default setting is just for 5 uses. So, you have to carefully chose when you'll used that extra power to gain the best advantage. The Chase mode is also programmable, via an optional computer interface, to increase or decrease the number of times you can activate the chase mode, allowing you to handicap more or less experienced drivers. For skilled drivers, the chase mode can be reduced to one use, while less skilled drivers can have 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15 and an almost unlimited 250 uses of the chase mode. This helps to level the playing field and allows drivers of varying skill levels to race together.
A wide range of aluminum option parts already exists for the Mini-Z Buggy, allowing you to customize your machine to heart's content.

These cars are for anyone that wants to drive them. They're easy and tough enough for a kid, but the electronics and drivetrain are very sophisticated and produce very precise control and high speeds. So, it's for whomever you choose.

@chonyc77 There are quite a few option parts, but none are installed on the car for the video. There are optional aluminum parts for the shock towers, bumpers, suspension mounts (with varying degrees of rear toe angle), steering knuckles, hub carriers, two different types of ball diffs, a one-way diff, HD center shaft, HD Gear diff, a set of aluminum steering racks, titanium nitride coated hinge pins, and universal driveshafts.

@chonyc77 In the video there are no options installed, but there are a number of option parts. There are aluminum hubs, carriers, shock towers, bumpers, suspension mounts, ball differentials, precision center shaft, steering plates, motors, Li-Ion batteries, etc., etc. There are a LOT of options available and it's just going to make the car faster, stronger and more fun in my book. ;o)

There are many places that carry this item, but one of the most popular will be Kenon Hobby. Do a search for them and you'll find many Mini-Z products.
