  • Prepare to meet Granville Stuart - a man whose life is so interesting, varied, complicated, and filled with remarkable stories, it's a wonder Hollywood hasn't taken full advantage. His contributions to the state of Montana are copious and his collection of fine arms is just as ample.
They are as special, hard-working, and extravagant as Granville Stuart himself.

Thank you for the history lessons and education on some of the most interesting firearms preserved and relayed by your company. Being in Australia we have none of this history and find this information on the development of your country fascinating and a true insight into the lives of these pioneers and their livelihood. Great firearms with an even greater history....keep up the great work and sharing your stories!

Great video with a mountain of information on both Winchester and Stuart. I am a small collector of old Winchesters and Marlin firearms and also have lived in Montana for almost 50 years. I have read a lot about Grandville Stuart, he certainly was quite a man, to say the least. I would write more but I need to change my shirt after all the drooling and slobbering I did, looking at those magnificent Winchesters of Grandville's.
    Wonderful video, keep them coming!

It seems sad that this collection will be broken up after being together for so long.
Is it known how much the featured rifles raised at auction?

A family man huh?! The same man who threw all of his 1/2 native children in St. Ignatius Jesuit Mission RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL as soon as their mother who he took as his bride at 12 YEARS OLD, was dead.

Perhaps inevitably, history tends to be very respectful of such well known and powerful figures.
Instances of very young girls being married wasn't that uncommon, although it horrifies today's readers when they learn that such practices existed.
Thankfully, the rights of children gained prominence and legal protections came into being.
To have virtually cast his children away into a residential school after their mother died was particularly cruel and heartless.
Having just lost their beloved mother, the children would have needed their fathet more than ever!

I'll bet that collection will go for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
