- Timpani Go Pro of my victory run with the 2018 Santa Clara Vanguard! This was just a blast to get to play our show one last time after winning the Fred Sanford (top percussion performance) and Drum Corps International Finals!

in the very beginning with you hitting the two timpanis it looks easy, then you start turning and adjusting the pedals and muting and like 20 other things at once and just wow man its insane

vanguardstar oh yeah, I know but I mean just in general even with other corps. Like last year there were a bunch posted like mid July but there’s been nothing at all this year

Nice! Quick question. How did the innovative bamboo series mallets withstand drum corps timp playing? Ive never used them outside but they are my favorite mallets.
Craig Mandelbaum They work perfectly fine!! I always had my mallet fluffing tool handy so that I could make sure they were equal around the mallet head.

Did you actually only hit the smallest timpani once through the entire show?!? At first I thought it was funny, then club sound happened and I was like "is that seriously just the world's most expensive mallet holder?"
As it turns out I'm mostly right lol
The 20 is not used for very many notes. Typically A-C. I use the 20 mostly for warm ups! I could’ve made almost every big hit an octave and added it on the 20, but that is somewhat unnecessary! It is also a super super good mallet molder 😉

practice! Spend time at a piano and work on matching pitch.
