Beautiful technique and style, and huge congrats on the Fred Sanford and 4-peat. When I saw the "groove cue" to the left and right at about 5:00, now I remember seeing you from the front in another video. Thanks so much for uploading this. You guys are THE dominant percussion section.
Looks like 3-4-3 2-1-2 3-4-3 2-1-2 etc. on octaves? (1 being outer left mallet and 4 being outer right). Next year: double strokes (on each mallet!) triple laterals, at this same tempo lol.
idk if I'm missing something but his two mallet grip seems really wonky to me. Obviously it works, is it some alternative grip or he just holding it really loose for like speed or something.
@@alexschweitzer8443 second one. they're triple laterals. each hand makes the larger motion of an eighth note, and then he very quickly rotates in-out-in to fill the eighth-note space with 3 notes, making...that really fast thing. it's actually a little bit easier when your hands are in octaves like that, but still very impressive.
Most definitely the best xylophone player in dci history!
7:20 how is that even possible?! These guys are like gods
Hello fello railfan

Yeah! Been waiting for over a year to hear the Xylo and bell parts.
I know 7:20 is just mind blowing, but what about his run from 11:54? It is absolutely INSANE!
This is incredible. Congrats on winning Fred Stanford!
7:17 - 7:27
Me: WAIT, THATS ILLEGAL

triple laterals, in-out-in. like a triple stroke on snare, in a way.
@@p3acefulpandas449 Try slowing down the vid's playback speed to 0.25x and see if you feel the same. :)
Luis ah... I didn’t even know I could do that
@@p3acefulpandas449 It's a handy feature for sure.

It's pretty standard to me. It's a little "open" I suppose but it's probably just the corps style
@@DajenC Yeah probably, I think where I am we play it a little more towards the opposite extreme so I was surprised
Vanguard really stresses having extremely loose hands so I wouldnt be surprised if that was it
7:20 is homie diddling on mallet percussion
who says you couldn't
How the hell are those triplet singles possible?
you talking about 7:17?
Justin Cole yeah like is that just chops or a technique I’m not aware of?
