I love the photos and snippets of him jyst as himself, when he is not acting. He seems so gentle, especially with little children and his beloved pets.
I dont mourn his early death, I celebrate his freedom from a world he would have feared, hated and tryed to find happyness in, but in his own time he did not find the true love, so in a world coming after him, I dont think the true love would have waited around the corner, the film industry would have used him in undecent sex films, because that is what movies has become, naked females and males in horribel scenes. If he could se our world today, I bet he would turn his grave, simply because women today are not so feminine anymore, and they dont need gentlemen, so let us who adore him keep doing that, because he dont come back.
I will always love him. Not only a one fine actor, but a very caring, generous, man. An animal lover, and of course, of youth and beauty all his short life.
He is adored to this day, and there are several biographies about his life. Elegant, handsome, brave, skilled, intelligent, and is said to have been a good actor. A young immigrant harassed by some people and loved by others in his new destination. It also seemed lonely to me even surrounded by so many people. We know little about his father's death, the story of his brother and nephew, but we know nothing about his mother and sister Maria. Sadly, he died an early and painful death. He will forever be remembered as a movie legend.
He was not only a pretty face apt for romantic roles. He was at his best in comedy. In his tongue in cheeck performance in "The Eagle", or in the first scenes of "Cobra". He was a good actor, and he did not saw himself as the romantic hero for ever. He was inteligent.
Italians are most def. Latin! The Latin language and culture originated in an area south of Rome called LATIUM before the Romans even got there. I'm Italian I researched and know my history. Italians were the first Latins!
It would be so nice to hear his voice understanding it was the Silent Movie era. Such a beautiful man.Talk about "Silence Speaks Volumes", where Mr.Valentino is concerned is a very good example, In my humble opinion.

I came to los angeles broke but thanks to my mother's stories of Rudolph valentine I became a lover of so many women that the average man could only dream about.
Your personal Supernova. Many stories about Valentino were written and some were incorrect, such as the one you mentioned. Envious males hated him because he was so popular with females. Some American men never could accept him because he appeared “different” with his polished Latin ways- they were used to poor, simple migrants- the vicious gossip and slander almost ruined him, but his mark on Hollywood will always be legendary. My dad who was a teen when Valentino was in Hollywood, told me how he was envied by these men. So sad! At the end of your comment you sound almost overjoyed at describing him as gay in capital letters. The best biographies are written by those who knew the man personally, not by second hand gossip.
This doc is full of errors; he was not 'penniless' when he came to the states, his father had left him a sizable lump sum when he died, which, until Valentino turned 21, his mother was in full control of. His boat fare was paid for by his family ( who seemed to want to be rid of him. By their account, he was a problem child) and when he needed money for warm clothes and a place to stay when he arrived in New York, his mother wired him $4,000 out of his inheritance which he blew through on expensive clothes and lodgings. Soon enough, he WAS broke, and had to take on odd jobs, which led him to dancing with rich old ladies for money. ( among many other things. He had many lovers of both sexes, but he preferred men) Then he turned 21, and had full access to his inheritance, which he again blew through. But by that point he was already in movies. The only women he married were both lesbians. He longed for a big family but it's kind of hard to procreate when your wife only likes muff and you only like cock. That's the truth of it. The man was gay. G-A-Y. A Ho, too, for the right amount of $$ he'd do anyone, but the love of his life was Andre Daven. .
There is absolutely NO evidence that Rudy was gay. The truth is that both men and women found him gorgeous, but that doesn't mean he was gay or that he reciprocated with the men. In his personal dealings with actors, actresses and friends, all agree that he definitely loved women deeply. Not men. It took time to win over Natacha -- he'd hang around her, try to make jokes, and so on. She thought he was a pain and kind of dopey at first, but then Natacha was a pretty cold fish and I think she consented to marry him because it meant she'd get a foot in the door in the movie studios (she was designing the stark art deco sets for Camille when he was cast in that film opposite Nazimova). He was devastated when she left him. He went into a depression, drank alot to numb the pain, and nearly killed himself except for friends preventing him from doing so. He was also devastated when Jean, his first wife, locked him out of their bedroom on their wedding night. He sent her poems and inscribed photos trying to win her back -- she had not shared that she was a lesbian prior to their marriage. Their marriage was never consummated. Natacha was probably gay or bisexual.....lesbians of the era would often marry men as cover for their sexuality. Again, that doesn't mean that Rudy was gay at all. He was basically a woman-loving little boy who didn't know how to deal with being a screen idol because there were few other stars he could turn to to discuss it and figure out how to handle it. Eventually he'd go to Palm Springs, taking his horses, and just being out in nature to get away from the Hollywood meat grinder. He spent money faster than he could earn it, loved tinkering on his car engines, riding his horses, playing with his pet dogs. A plain, human male who just happened to be amazingly gorgeous, and who was an amazing natural actor, dancer, equestrian, boxer and fencer.
He came over with $4000 that was put together by the family for his trip over. He was not 21, more like 18, when he came over. There was no huge inheritance. His mother had to be frugal after her husband died. There was the rumor that he had an affair with Daven because they went for a fishing/hunting vacation for about a week. Whatever. It's only in the last couple of decades that the "gay" thing was spread around with absolutely no evidence shown.
Nothing will change the fact that Valentino was intelligent and classy without the silly marketing we have today.RIP you fine gentleman.
