Bajaj Dominar 400 Maintenance | DIY | ABS & Speedometer Sensor Overhaul

- One of the Dominar Owners in Pune had a speedometer issue. It had stopped working, so provided him solutions as to what all can be checked before going to bajaj. This video from me, will cover the three basic checks which one can do at home with bare minimum tools. 99% of the time, the main culprit is the wire but apart from that Fuse, and two sensors can also be checked.
Please do let me know if you have any questions on the overhaul done on my bike. if any one has faced such issues, please do also comment in the video about the same along with solution. It will be great help to other fellow dominar owners :)

Great job, this is by far the most extensive video on Dominar I've come across, yet. I had an issue with my speedo and abs, I followed the steps and, viola! The speedo was back to life. Very simple and brief description, keep up the good work, man!

Saludos desde Pune, India. Este es un problema típico al que se enfrentan muchos ciclistas. Durante la instalación de neumáticos, muchas veces, el anillo ABS se dobla o el cable del sensor ABS se rompe. Puede verificar que el anillo ABS no esté doblado e intentar estirarlo o aplanarlo suavemente. Si el anillo no tiene curvas, es posible que desees revisar el cable del sensor ABS. Intente conseguir otro cable de sensor de algunos amigos de Dominar e instálelo en su bicicleta y verifique, si eso resuelve el problema, eso significa que el cable tiene algún tipo de corte. English Version: Greetings from Pune, India. This is a typical problem that many riders face. During the Installation of tyres, many times, the ABS Ring bends or the ABS Sensor wire breaks. You can cross check the ABS Ring for any bends and try to striaghten / flatten it gently. If the Ring has no bends, you might want to check the ABS Sensor Wire. Try getting another sensor wire from some friends Dominar and install on your bike and cross check, if that resolves the problem, that means the Wire has some kind of cut. Let me know how it goes about.
i just wanted to know how is the ixil exhaust doing over the past months ? any issues ? did you remap/retune the airflow after installing the exhaust ? any other things i should know about? i am really planning to buy it :)
Have not remaped or done any further mods. And am using with stock CatCon

From last two days abs some time start or sometimes dont,if it dont start i turn off engine by key off than start it ,than abs work but whn i stop to 0km abs light is still off

When it is light is on it doesn't work

Front cable for ABS should cost around 800-1600. I don't know the exact price. I haven't tried installtion myself any time. So not sure about that too. But probably should be plug n play.

Bro I have bought dominar 250 today its speedometer showing 0 speed all time 😭😭 and abs error light is on all time
probably, the bike is not registered and the speedo sensor is not fixed. check near rear disc.

thats why, they must have taken off the speedo cable, which is also the sensor cable.
How about if the neutral light is not working?
Neutral light could be lot other things.
1. Switch inside the engine is gone bad.
2. Wire is cut some where
3. Sockets are loose
4. Speedo Circuit has an issue.
How to check abs cable dominar 400
By replacing with new. If new works then old has issue.
My dog bit up the front sensor wire.
After replacement, any ECU related work needs to be done?
I don't recollect. Should work straight.

Hi, in my domi 400 2018 abs variant. The speedometer shows 10km+ speed additionally than actual speed. Then i found that front sensor cable screw is slightly loose so i removed and cleaned the sensor then fixed it. Changed the fuse also. But still it continues the same problem? What will be problem?😊
have you changed the tyre size ? else get it checked by Bajaj service
@@dipen.nisar.autovlogs no i didn't change any bigger or smaller tyre size . Just changed with exact one. But i changed rear tyre 6months back. From 2 weeks only it shows incorrect speed
Take it to Bajaj to get it verified over their tools

Next time use Colin spray to clean the muck and dirt. No need to use strong chemicals or products like wd40 (which in itself contains kerosene) or diesel. Also the sensors don't need frequent cleaning. Normal water wash usually helps to clean the sensors.
Colin is a good option. But sometimes the mud n muck there is too rigid. And WD40 works just fine.
Also the Kerosene from WD40 is of way better quality than one available locally. I have some friends who work in ships and Oil wells. Where wd40 is heavily used by them. The quality feedback is given by them.
Diesel is harmless too. Have been using since 1996 on color parts too. To remove road tar stains from lower body / engine parts of the car and bikes. No issues what's so ever on multiple brands.
Brother my dominar speedometer is showing incorrect speed ...and also while the bike is parked in side stand when i accelerate it's showing speed in speedometer although the bike is in parked condition
get the sensors checked by Bajaj, this will require physical inspection

My speedometer is malfunctioning. Not displaying the speed. ECU can communication failure showing up. How can we fix that?any idea pls!!
Ideally ecu can failure is low battery issue. But get the bike diagnosed by Bajaj. They will have to scan the error

I have xtreme 200R. Speedometer & Front ABS is not working. Is there fuses and at same place..? Or there might be another problem..?
1. Does the ABS light glow continuously or is it off. ?
2. If the light is on then there is some malfunction some where. Like the sensor is not able to get the reading from front wheel.
3. If the light goes off but the abs does not work, then abs ring on the front suspension might have gone bad (bent)
Fuses in your bike might be under the seat itself.

I changed the speed sensor wire but it didn't solved my problem....again the speedometer is not working.....which wire or sensor need to be changed??....front one or rear one?
Depends on which has gone bad. Service should be able to guide you on this.

Yes. But very expensive. Instead get a pre-owned abs Dominar. Sell off yours.

@@chetankher0990 yes. The change is very expensive. The pump for ABS itself will cost 20000/- apart from new hose for oil, Sensors, cable, ECU etc. Should be close to 30-45,0000/-

intente limpiar todos los sensores, también verifique el fusible del ABS, también verifique el anillo del ABS, si tiene una curva en alguna parte.

mine abs is working fine for 1 to 2 km and then abs light continues glowing . recently a little cloth was stuck between sensor and disc and after that this problem begins
Probably the sensor has gone bad or the disc has bent. First check the disc and then if required replace the sensor. It's expensive.

i am facing issues with abs , i have changed abs sensor ring and sensor wire also.. still issues occurs most of time intermittently . any suggestion why it is happening?
1.) have you changed both sensors and cables ? or only one.
2.) and whats the issue that you are facing in actual. define them in detail to understand what you are facing.
I have changed only rear , disc and wire. As after changing sprocket I started facing abs issue. So right now... Situation is it doesn't keeps on for all the time but 70-80% of time I drive it is on.
Like in svc after changing those parts abs light didn't glow and seems to be fine. But now while reaching home , it started again.
I am confused now , what may be issue. As I never faced any problem in abs till now.
I have 2018 variant and 32K on odo.
Any idea on this?
1. Was the change done at Authorized Service centre ? if not, it will be off warranty. if it was Service center, it should be replaced in warranty (the sensor/cable and ring), assuming you did not have the ABS issue before the sprocket change.
2. Did you show it again to the service station ? if not, please show it again. there might still be a issue with the sensor or the ABS ring on the disc.
3. If all is good at the rear, Front might have some issue. get it checked and replaced in warranty.
4. you can check all other points as per my video
5. If you know for sure, the issue was not due to any error from you and the service is not supportive, you can DM me in Insta. (only if your bike is in warranty, I can help further).
