Nice video. One comment: It’s available up to 1TB of storage (not 512MB)
Thanks for that! Pinning this so everyone sees!
My apologies everyone. When I initially looked at the reviewers guide it said 512GB and Best Buy's highest storage goes up to 512GB. But on Google's page it's 1TB.
Probably bc 1TB is exclusive to the Obsidian colorway and US only
@@vvorthabillyyou’re correct on that. I did some research to see if the blue bay color went up to 1TB. Only the obsidian has the 1TB storage option.
Not necessarily. For the European market the maximum is 512 GB, don’t know why that is…
@@erebostd that sucks, sorry to hear that.
Just got my 8 pro yesterday and I can't wait to keep using this thing, it is amazing so far!
It’s a really really nice phone!
This phone looks like a winner for so many people. Great video, Mark!
Thanks Jeff! Yeah, seems like a real winner tbh.
@@HeyMarkLhow good you recommended it to me I have iPhone 13 but I want to get pixel 8 or the pro which one is better or iPhone 15 please advise me
Unless you check the benchmark scores
@@Chets I've got news for you. "So many people" don't give a damn about "benchmark scores" when the phone suits their daily needs perfectly.
It's not a gamer phone, who cares. There's plenty out there already.
@@MysteryOfMoviesbut a lot care about raw power and a lot about ecosystem. We don't have the same understanding but in 2023, numbers and raw power matter.
If i look at any smartphone with a 8 Gen 2 or A17 Pro, i don't have to question myself.
When i look at Tensor G3 and then A15 Bionic on my iPhone, i think i have the right to question Google statements about 7 years OS Updates, for a chip less powerful than a 2 year A15 Bionic or 1 year 8 Gen 1 🤔
This is the best device I've ever owned. It's solid. The screen is completely different, very responsive. And I love the hepatics.
Second the haptics :) I like opening the recent apps and just navigating through the recent apps to feel the haptics lol.. it's like spinning the wheel on the Price is Right :)
What about battery life?
@@GG-gt6ro so far, my battery life has been fine and has lasted me all day

At last!!! A positive review!!!... This is so refreshing and appreciated. The Pixel 8 Pro is clearly a beast of a phone, so it´s sad and frustrating to see other UA-camrs sharing overly negative (most of the time more no real reason) reviews... Specially right after they did the complete opposite with the iPhone 15, extremely positive reviews when so little has changed.
Well done Google!
It's not a beast
It's pretty smart tho but it's not a beast in daily use
My s23 ultra is a beast. The pixel 8pro is really smart. Integrated AI is the next big step for smartphones. The 8 Pro is all about software. Most of which isn't even on the phone. The phone sends stuff to Google servers, and they do the editing and return the ai edited photo
Yep. Not really a beast as a phone. It struggles in really simple tasks. Signal drops, battery is below average...etc. Some still use a phone as a phone. Yes, camera is awesome and all the other AI stuff is cool but I would hardly say this phone is a beast. I actually own it along with an Edge 2023 plus, zenfone9 and nothing 2. Those 3 phones do everything better than the pixel besides pics and that's just not at the top of my list. I'm not bashing it but damn Google still dealing with the same issues as always..It's fine if You're sitting on wifi all day. Try getting through a day on this phone on 5g. The modem is absolute trash.
@@mrvnist I agree I have this and I use it for work like it struggles constantly dropping frames just on regular basic stuff but like you say the AI is great I get some many calls on my iPhone from telemarketers and sales ppl all day long so ignoring ……
That screen call is a life saver but
It’s a great regular phone

Returning Pixel 8 Pro to wait for S24 Ultra.
1. Fingerprint sensor, unreliable, blinding at night.
2. No folders in app drawer
3. No HDMI video output or Desktop mode.
4. Face unlock is slower than using fingerprint.
5. Non customizable power button, will not work as flashlight
6. Can't stack widgets
7. Quick back-tap gesture, unreliable, inconsistent.
8. Selfie camera looks weird, cannot change over-sharpenning, over-contrasting
9. Rear camera No HDR @ 60fps
10. No scrolling screenshots.
11. Cannot further customize power button + volume rocker combinations for multiple actions.
12. No customizable widgets, cannot change opacity or size.
13. Cannot remove or change at a glance widget.
14. Cannot remove or change Google search widget.
15. AI photo editing does not give full options all the time. Sometimes offers STYLIZED editing, sometimes BEST SHOT, sometimes none.
16. Cannot use HOME ONLY without drawer on native launcher, have to use third party.
PROS for keeping the Pixel 8 Pro vs S24 Ultra:
1. Assistant works with WhatsApp.
2. Assistant call handling, spam screening, hold for call, navigate call menus visually.
3. Assistant works with phone locked.
4. No forced bloatware apps, Samsung internet, Samsung pass, Samsung health,
5. Big FLAT display screen, bright and vibrant colors, responsive.
6. Relatively good price.
7. Easy to hold, light, feels sturdy.
8. Glass back feels premium and hides fingerprints.
9. Photo Magic eraser, audio eraser seem to work fine.
lol. I don't believe you ever had it
@@aprilmiller2374 believe I have the phone and can confirm all these prob and more and I dont get the hype or why ppl are amazed with this 1st iteration of the AI feature, im returning and prob going now for S23 cause the S24 is going to be even more expansive :(

Awesome skin with the elegant black colour
The 8 Pro is looking a beast because of how you reviewed it, Mark. Awesome vid as always 👏
The pixel 8 pro is the best android phone period. The best part about it is that it will continue to get even better with updates.
The intro is so nice I love it! Also a small heads up, the battery is 5050mAh and not 5080! 0:40
My script had 5050mAh but my brain said 5080!!! Hahah
Good video, Mark! I noticed you’re in VA. We were just at Farmers today for breakfast.
Yeah Virginia is pretty sweet!
Great review man, that dbrand skin/case looks very nice. 👍
Finally, an honest review. I prefer this phone over Samsung twice over.
Just a correction on your stat graphic in the beginning for the battery, it's 5,050mAh.

I still haven't seen any reviewer comment on the call or signal quality of this device. I mean, it is a phone, after all.
Hmmm most of my calls were using WiFi calling and signal quality in my house is pretty bad with TMobile anyways so it’s comparable to 15 Pro Max, S23 Ultra or any other recent flagships 🤷🏻♂️

Strictly in photography terms which camera do you think takes the better photos, g8pro or s23ultra?
Thank you
As an entire package I still prefer the S23 Ultra.
Good video . Google done well using their software paired with a Samsung display , Samsung/Sony camera hardware and a processor that was co-made with them and Samsung .
Really enjoying the Pixel 8 Pro, improved battery life, great pictures, amazing dictation, call screen and AI features.
Ive been an andoid person - usually samsung galaxy series which have been great except the immense bloatware and delayed updates (as I'm in canada). I want to switch to pixel 8 pro (customization galore, no bloatware, faster updates)...but I'm a bit worried about the camera and the lag ive heard from other reviewers. I think thr AI photo thing is hella impressive as is thr 12 GB ram. Wondering if overall its worth switching to the pixel 8 pro from samsung? I know samsung benchmark is higher than pixel but google has so much cool stuff integrated. Is it worth it?
As a fellow android person, if you've been using stock android all your life, (as I personally was until I got a Pixel 3 XL), gotta say the Pixel's UI alone is well worth checking out, at least once. Day to day productivity with a pixel feels so incredibly intuitive and streamlined, its unreal, and even just a a phone, it's phenomenal and it's spam rejection is literally one of the best damn things ever. There's far too much to gush about, but if you're at all on the fence about it, probably worth doing your homework on and checking out after your current phone bites the dust. Pixel 8 pro is going to be getting security updates, feature upgrades, and android support until 2030.
It’s funny how most reviewers still hating on the pixel. Thanks for an honest review
I try my best to really give everyone the lowdown on phones and other tech products 🙏🏼 thanks for tuning in.
That camera bar skin is so dope on the black Pixel 8. To bad, you can no longer buy separate parts of skins from Dbrand anymore :/
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Bonjour, dois-je acheter un Pixel 7 maintenant ou acheter un Pixel 8 ? Qu'en pensez-vous ? Y a-t-il une grande différence ?
Well reviewed 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice video i want to try this pixel but i dont know is better to wait for the s24 ultra i like to take portraits photos
Depends what you're after! imo if you care more about photo quality, the Pixel 8 Pro *might* be better. But S24 Ultra from the rumors I'm hearing will be a GREAT all-around smartphone.
I like photos on Pixel cameras than Samsung, but I mean if you're used to Samsung, go with Samsung. I personally tried out the Samsung note 20 ultra, came back to Pixel, I love the feeling of it
@caletate6293 I have the s22 ultra but I never try a pixel phone
Can you compare the ZenFone 10 and the pixel 8
May i know your red backpack brand ?
That's peak brightness by the way. As in set to auto brightness then in direct sunlight it will boost to it max peak brightness
Do you happen to know if 5G will finally work here in the Philippines? 😅 the past pixel products wouldn't allow us to use this including the 7 pro
Won't be back in the Philippines for a bit, but if the bands support it, and your carrier supports 5G, then I don't see why not :)
@HeyMarkL that's actually where it's strange cause the Pixel 7 pro does have the bandwidth but when inserting a local carrier 5G capable sim it only stays at 4G LTE
How you get that different font for the clock on the AOD?
Hey there, just something I picked up on. You say that this is not the fastest phone available if that’s what someone is looking for, but then in the next statement, say that it is just as good as the iPhone 15 Pro or S 23 ultra? I use a lot of voice recognition, and I like to use voice recognition with my assistant, for use with various apps such as Slack. iPhone doesn’t support that. But I believe android probably supports everything possible. Will I still be wild with how the pixel or Google assistant will work… Coming from an iPhone 14 Pro? I have one coming to me in the mail today, but I’m half wondering if I should open the box or not lol. Worst thing can happen I guess is the restocking fee to the retailer:-)
Loving my new work phone… Google Assistance is my savior
what dbrand skin did you use on the camera bar?
Called triple black 🙏🏼
This is not a review, golly Mark. Keep doing what you are doing, mate. ✊🏾
Google has done a good job this time around
But they need to provide some kind of Raw Power and with that AI and ML will work absolutely amazing
iPhones set the performance bar. Phones that don't come close to those numbers are labeled as OK performance even though performance is excellent for 97% percent of all things you could do on a smartphone.
@@mariozamora9684The Pixel 8 series isn't Okay in some performance tests. It has midrange performance in some tests I have viewed. Why do you think Google will not allow any Pixel 8 series device to download benchmark apps like Geekbench and 3D Mark from The Play Store?. They don't want owners to share performance test figures and realise exactly how poor the performance of their devices really is.
Where can I buy that "visor" skin for the camera frame?
dbrand.com/HeyMarkL - go to skins, and look for the Pixel 8 Pro. Tons of other options too!
answer me this one question why is it when I'm inside? I can't tell if the 2400 nitts is on. do I have to be outside in the sun to be able to tell the difference? how does that work?
Might have to go see an Optometrist and get your eyes checked lol but all jokes aside, yes, technically, if you have adaptive brightness turned on and outside, you'll get that extra boost when it's really bright out.
I'm currently using a S22 Ultra that I've now had for 18 months. Would you consider the Pixel 8 Pro a worthy upgrade for me?
Same but I hear s24 will drop in January so idk if I should wait or not
Wait for the S24
So the pixel 8 pro or the pixel fold?
I went from Pixel 5 to the 8 Pro. Getting used to the size of it but it's leaps above the 5.
Oh that is a HUGE jump. Both size and specs. I'm sure you'll love it!
@@HeyMarkL I'm loving it so far.
Why is nobody talking about the hollow screen? There is so much flex it feels like plastic
6-7 hours of screen on time with high or full resolution ?
That's with high resolution.
I'm barely getting 4hrs with full. Love the phone but this isn't impressing me
This is my first full day with the phone and I'm almost at 7 hours of SOT with 17% left. Took off this morning at 9am and it's 1:41am now. I've had everything on with the highest resolution and all haptics. Great battery life! It'll be even better once the adaptive battery finishes doing it's thing
Don't believe the bad reviews from the people who use it for a hour then put it down and make a video it's amazing . Yeah the 8 pro. I hold it in hand
Where did you get the camera sticker at 0:02?
dbrand.com/HeyMarkL
It's a good phone but it's still like not all the way there cuz I'm going to say about the the power of the chip of course but it's very smart. Very reliable. Had some glitches with some of the apps but nothing major. I just need the chip to be a little bit more powerful and I think they'll be on to something just in the daily day abuse. I mean it's okay like even just going through apps you can. You can feel the the little slugginess of it, but it's overall it's a good phone. I'm actually doing the text and the comment with the phone right now so very very very very smart things like that make you just want to just keep it so they use it for my work phone. I still have my iPhone as my personal but we'll see great video
Do S23 FE next
The s23 ultra has 1750 nits of peak brightness. It's never been a problem using my s23 ultra in direct sunlight
I have a Pixel 8 Pro. It's fantastic!
Let's be honest for a moment! Are you not a little bit embarrassed, having to whip out your thermometer to make a call or take a photo?
I would love to test the temperature of my, THC cartridge for example
It’s says it 400 nits brighter but test have shown the 15 pro max still gets brighter outside
I have both and if you put em' side by side, the Pixel 8 Pro is MAYBE a bit brighter, but not much tbh. But it's still dang bright.
As long as it is an improvement over the pixel 7 pro then it is a win. No need to compare other phones.
Google will not allow any Pixel 8 series device to download any benchmark performance apps from The Play Store. We all know this is so we don't start swapping performance figures and panning the devices for having midrange device performance figures in certain tests and questioning the prices of our devices. Why do this?.. Why not just admit that Pixels are not about performance but are about pure Android and a fantastic camera and AI innovation and let customers download what apps they want?. Why the deceit and underhanded behaviour that amounts to a form of censorship upon it's customers. And they say Apple is restrictive.
Loce my Pixel 8 pro. 💪😀 Simply hardcore.

I'm overall happy but biometrics suck a$$ in low light (both fingerprints and face id) and temperature sensor stupid gimmick. I'd rather Google had use this space for something more practical like IR blaster for universal remote or SD card slot.
Slow fingerprint reader and sub par Face ID. Some photos make faces really dark.
It has everything I want except fast charging lol. I wish at least they put 40 wat fast charger. 30 wat takes forever especially since I come from phones like Oppo and Xiaomi 😅
Oh trust me I get you! Xiaomi and Oppo have spoiled me with their charging tech 😅
Damn them Chinese devices for being too good!..😂😂
Pixel uses PD charging, so it is limited. Due to the extra heat, ATM, 45-watt PD charging is meant for tablets. Samsung uses it, but rarely hits 45 watts and is usually much lower.
not a good face unlock or fingerprint sensor. Aside from that, a great device
For the algorithm. 🤙

The battery life is trash compared to S23U and Iphone 15pro max, I can't get even a day out of it. I have to carry a battery pack.
Battery still sucks wait for next year, they aren't using lpp+ or tsmc 4nm so bad efficiency
Sheesh grabe na AI
The pixel 8 pro screen is not 100% flat like the iPhones. This is why screen protectors don’t stick down on the edges and spigen put a black border around their screen protector to hide it
Ohhhhh that makes sense, no wonder the screen protector gets lifted/bubbles when pressing buttons on my spigen tough armor
@@ZVENOM6134 yeh it's true. The screen still has a tiny tiny curve and it's enough for screen protectors not to fit.
Perfect with a fingerprint that barely works and a faceid that’s mediocre at best? Compare both these features with iPhone and Samsung. It doesn’t remind of a flagship on anything other than its AI photo edit features.

I’m off the Pixel now. The Pixel 5 was my favourite phone of all time, I finally upgraded to the Pixel 7 Pro. It was a mistake I truly hated the 7 Pro, from its instability, poor handling dynamics and annoying curves screen. I couldn’t even keep it a year, moved to the 15 Pro.
