Jamie is my favourite Chef, and such a big inspiration to me. I love how simple he is. His recipes are simple, yet amazing and full of flavour. And he seems like a really sweet person.
I am nicaraguan and since a came to UK I used to muss my food and would not eat and when I used to see my husband watching this man Jamie cooking I took interest in cooking recipes like him easy and delicious. Nice to see more new recipes from he's adventures around the world.
I followed this video + Jamie's "cook the perfect steak" video when it was my 3 year anniversary. Provided my girlfried with a beautifully cooked piece of fillet steak with these potatoes, garnished with a rocket and balsamic dressing salad. 3 years later it has been tradition that I do this every anniversary and birthday (and as many times in between that she can get it). It's safe to say our relationship has been better, as all women LOVE a man that can cook good food. PS. Jamie also has a "Make the perfect Mojito" video so I'm also Master-Chef when it comes to refreshments.
Jamie, Hello! I'm your fan from Russia. A few years ago you inspired me to create my culinary channel on UA-cam, which is called the Pokashevarim. Thank you for your work, for your tireless energy and desire to teach people how to cook. Probably not read my message, but I wanted to thank you, and I did it.
Покашеварим what a nice thing for you to say. Lots of people use the internet to be nasty. Have you tried contacting Jamie on Twitter, at least you have some chance of him seeing your comment.
I've just started watching you at 65 years old. I watch your 30 minute meals but I'm retired so I really don't need to be in a hurry, so I'm not! Thankyou for posting. You've given me some terrific ideas.
Jamie, you are my longest love! I’ve been loving you and your food for 15 years! 🙈My biggest regret is that I was front of your restaurant at Cardiff and really wanted to go but I left it for the next time and then it closed! 😢😭 I really love how you are trying to teach a whole nation to eat well and appreciate the food! Is not just cooking what you do! Love you! You always gonna be the best! ❤
Prairielander lol. Love it. I make this dish every once in a while and seems like whenever I serve it to others I wind up having to explain the term Dauphinoise which comes from the region of France this dish originated. I don't know for sure but with all that cream I suspect there is a French pun here in that the Dauphin is the crown prince of France. But with such a great pun I assume you knew that. Giggles.
I just made this I'm a retired chef living in spain saw this and thought a quick version that's so nooo. But I have to say it was fantastic thanks Jamie
Your recipes will save us in quarantine. Thank you very much, we are tired of oysters already 😅😃😃 I want potatoes, whiskey and vodka, everything can be mixed.
absolutely love this. Love it love it. No more hours n hours waiting for my fave potato dish. Sooo easy! Thank you Jamie!! Ps nice with bacon instead of anchovies too!!
Im here looking up what to make with cream leftover from xmas day. I didn’t have anchovies so used left over cubed gammon and 1 tsp dried thyme, 1 tsp of garlic powder and also added 1 tsp onion powder as I only had a very small red onion (everything else was the same). I know fresh herbs are better but needs must. I didn’t have Parmesan so cheddar from the left over cheeseboard had to do. This was blinding and so quick! Try it people you won’t be disappointed.
Me: Yeah, i'm going to make a quick potato dauphinoise today! Very simple, very Delicious. First of Slice the potatoes with a food processor.... shit don't have one.. doesn't matter at all. *spending 2 days on cutting potatoes
Brilliant! I make a similar potato dish and it always takes forever. I never thought to pre-cook it on the stove top, because I have always used a glass pan. However! I do have a metal pan of the same size! May try this out sometime. 😋 p.s. there’s no anchovies in my house, but I do have some Caesar salad dressing…
Thanks Jamie and especially gennaro my husband bougt me a nice Handy and my son made everything redy so I can watch you guys they are so cude just that they get goooood food
This is actually the Best Potato Dauphinoise i have ever made and is my go to recipe. Its not as heavy as other dauphinoise recipes and so much faster. I have been making this for years now when I crave creamed 🥔
Spanish version. Slice potatoes, mandolin will be fine for this, blanch potatoes in boiling water for a few minutes. Olive oil to grease casserole dish, layer of potatoes, add a little crushed garlic, a pinch of oregano, a pinch of salt and black pepper and some grated cheese. Repeat and repeat till all pots are used up. Sprinkle a crushed stock cube (veggie or chicken) and pour in cream. If you are not a veggie you could put a layer of Iberica ham or something similar between layers. Grated cheese on top and place in oven. This is not a side dish it is a main meal.
exactly. the key (which he did not really talk about) is that he sliced his potatoes with a food processor to make them super thin (and cook fast). If you slice the potatoes with a knife, you're looking at about 45-60 minutes cooking time in the oven.
As a Southerner in the U.S., I've grown up making basically the same recipe with the exception that for the saltiness, we do not use anchovies but rather ham. I think I'll try the anchovies next time....interesting spin. I'll be sure to go full whack! LOL
I was home trying my best to make this recipe work with limited source of ingredient. Instead of anchovies, I put tuna can in. Plus, I use hot milk and eggs instead of cream. (which makes it kinda like a frittata in someway) Cause what I've got were only what's left in the fridge. Yet,it actually turns out just fine! : ) But I guess if I do get a hold of all those ingredients you're using, the taste would be absolutely marvelous.
Last time I thought to make thinner slices they didn't absorb any(!) liquid.Hours of cooking didn't change that. Make sure to keep slices at least 6mm.

I’ve cooked this so many times and I’m so amazed how amazing the flavour is!!
It may not be totally tradition process, but it surely is good food, and good food is what we all love.
Indeed, zero to do with the original recipe; only potatoes and milk!

Wow! Beautiful to look at as well, crispy potatoes and so easy to prepare, Thank you Jamie Oliver

Or use a mandoline.
Edin Curic, yeah you go into your food-blender-less corner and stay there forever.
same here.... xD :(
but the mandoline still won't make those thin slices, would it? i believe the knife part on mine is a bit thicker.
+Saabriinii A mandolin definitely should make slices that thin, other why would you have one?
Wow I'm gonna try this out! Without the anchovies cos I'm a vegetarian but that just looks delicious!

Not sure a tuna can has the same taste. Bit metallic

Exceptional way to quickly make this dish! We'd only add a dash of wine as well:) Thank you Jamie!
Looks delicious! Thank you very much for sharing the recipe. 👍👍👍
Great recipe, Jamie. I did not have anchovies, so I put about a teaspoon, maybe a bit less, of fish sauce. Seemed to give the same effect ❤
Looks amazing watch your show everyday
Oh gosh I love you Jamie and your recipes!!!! I just need that food processor though
Jamie is my hero.

So easy. Good comfort food in no time at all...love it

off-topic: how did you get the camera in the oven while its on?
Johnny Chen maybe he puts the camera before it starts baking and after it's done baking? idk just some thought
+Johnny Chen Look at the cupboard beside the stove. I suspect it's specially made for a camera to be housed with a glass partition adjoining the oven.

Awesome recipe. Loved it!
Nices food good taste ... take care from Nicaragua saludos kept making those good plates of food ...
You can use dried thyme just as good
This recipe is very similar to a swedish dish called "Janssons frestelse" (translated: Janssons Delight/Temptation). Very nice :)
My thoughts exactly, but the potatoes are in French fry shape, and lots more anchovies.
I’m totally in love with this recipe ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mouthwatering! Congratulations!
