I fell in love with Norgard as soon a I heard his Smphony No. 3... its's been a love affair ever since, His is a totally unique voice with great mystery and adventure!

Exciting is the word! Unbelievably imaginative ! I am 10 years late finding out about this amazing still living master! Young people should hear this 30 years from now people will be talking about this not radiohead or interpol . I would love to see this score . I fell in love,awe felt a thousand different emotions at hearing symph # 3 but this is even more extreme like a white european futuristic dream-nightmare type of jazz. Must find his publisher ! So wonderful to be able to hear this here! How does the rec engineer get such clarity . This is wonderful .I don't thnk it could sound this great live each measure each half measure! hs some startling event . This is music for the cities . amazing ! Helmut Lachenmann ? If Boulez was was northern european(that is certainly this sound) ,more exuberant ,more sensation oriented and even more boisterous this is what we could expect . there will be new things every time you hear this and it all adds up to something!

Somewhere around 2:50 i feel like ive been thrust unawares into ligetis piano concerto.
Some two months later, same thing...I reach for my phone to see what's streaming. I know its norgaard but it has ligetis sound world. This is awesome music. Not derivative but much influenced.

Movements 2 and 3 start at 9.44 and 16.50. The second one seems very fretful and disturbed. The 3rd I find boisterous and almost semi-comical. Tough going, but interesting.
Reading Wikipedia, which I know is imperfect, they seem to lump Norgard into spectralism. From a sound world perspective I find that descriptor of Spectralism rather limiting. Xenakis, Haas, some of Ligeti, I get the Spectralism tag. Norgard in a good way, a very good way seems to be more than that. More musical, less ponderoous, more serial and a random sequencing that resolves itself with irony and decisiveness that is pleasing to listen to.
Hahaha, start of that second movement goads a comparison to the Rite.
