Nørgård is the most innovative and ahead of time Danish composer we have !!!
Sometimes he seems pretty weird, but there is a meaning always, and it works !
Nørgård has a natural flow in his own world, where other classical danish composers music, sound amateurish !!! Like, with struggle, to place the wrong bricks in the wrong puzzle !!! MIAAAV !!!

With great Thanks to "katewishing" for the upload, this has both likes and dislikes for me. Norgard is certainly a masterful composer, and this performance is superb. I enjoyed watching the musicians, but it was a shame that the wrong cameras seem often to be chosen. Often, when the whole orchestra is in a climax, we see only a close up of the lead flautist! (?). The music I find a trifle academic for my taste, but I give a thumb up.

Interesting use of flutes and oboes...

It is a messy piece, and sounds as if some scores from the regular repertoire have been put through the shredder, after which someone has tried to glue the snippets together.

      *****
To be open and tolerant while listening to contemporary music, does not inevitably mean that one will like what one hears. A full understanding of what one hears, can also lead to rejection. If not: that would mean that bad contemporary music would not exist, because how could one know? It could as well be that embracing whatever new music comes one's way, is in fact a narrowing of mindset, since the critical function has been deleted.

Well we've been through a,lot since you wrote that comment.
My take is that this kind of music, unless one is very deeply musical, needs to be listened to way more than just a one listen.
It's deeply consciously created and absolutely wasn't "shoved through the shredder"!
Liking immediately at first hearing is something reserved for pop music and light classics.
Plenty of bad music out there but not this.
And in any case he's communicating about life and existence here, not about feeling good for a few minutes.
      Listen again perhaps?
      All good things 😌
