Of all the Carnival Luminosa Alaska videos that I have seen, this one is the absolute best! The video is very smooth and isn't jumping around, and you don't have one of those loud, over the top voices. Showed me everything I needed to see and told me everything I needed to know.
Great cruise video and ship presentation!! Been on 43 cruises, but never to Alaska! Interesting, might enjoy that trip!! Looks like you've had a great time shooting the ship, more than getting out in the sights!! Though, the train ride is interesting!
Thanks for sharing your Alaska trip, always amazing to see. We have done the cruise south bound from Seward and North bound from Vancouver. Always enjoyed the Alaska cruises. Has been awhile for us, after seeing your trip I think it is time to go again.
Hi Russ this is Cheryl ,we went on a Cruise before you. Your videos were amazing of the trip. My husband and I watched your video together. We went to all the same places, made us want to go back. My husband was up there in the service as well. Of course we went back to where he lived in Anchorage. Nothing looked the same. I'm glad to see the trains were running. Of course it was the same one. I wished I thought to tell you to ride on left side. We of course were on the right side. It was amazing. Enjoyed it so much, glad your back safely.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Wonderful photography. I love the shiny floors. I would love the food and all the nice places to sit. I would spend time in the Serenity area.
Hey! Glad you had a nice trip and have returned safely. Yeah. Alaska is on my Bucket List with NCL( Norwegian Cruise Line). Maybe hoping in 2024 for my anniversary. We'll see. For now enjoying my 'apprenticeship'" to e-bikes with a MagiCycle Jaguarundi. Thinking of changing the handle bar to a carbon fiber with a 9 degree rear rake to lessen the 'stretch'. Looking forward to your next post. Cheers!
Just got off the Luminosa a few days ago. Alaska cruise was amazingly beautiful like living in a post card with gorgeous views! Excursions were awesome and adventurous. Had a wonderful time and cant wait to go again soon!
Thanks for the tour and narrative, looked like a great trip. You added some tips I'm not sure not many people would have known about, I don't have a passport. With a scooter I can see where that is game changer, I can't stand long or walk very far.
Nice cruise Russ thanks for sharing. Our family has done this Alaskan Cruise on the NCL Pearl years ago. Next cruise is to the ABC Islands, as always be safe and be well.
Hey Russ, glad you had a safe trip. The Straight of Juan de Fuca just after Seattle between Port Angeles and Victoria BC is very choppy, it's always choppy even on the calmest summer day. I really like the tour you gave us. Thank you for this video 😎
Just went on this exact cruise a month ago. Had a great time. You are right - entertainment was not that plentiful and i had better food (it was still good though). Thanks for the reminder video. Felt like i was there again!
Great video Russ. Best one I have seen for the area. That cruise is back on my bucket list. Nice to see that there is someone else out there as cheap as me.😂
I'm not normally interested in a cruise. I'm an active guy and would likely go stir-crazy. I wouldn't like the shows and don't gamble. However, I might make an exception for an Alaskan cruise. Very interesting, and areas I likely wouldn't otherwise visit. I'd definitely do the organized e-bike ride you mentioned and rent bikes when there was no other ride available. I would have had to try that crab shack too.
Russ was Cruisin’ 🚢 Excellent quality video. Alaska was beautiful added to our bucket list. Love Carnival going to Mexican Riviera cruise in December. Surprised you didn’t rent an ebike where was that? Nice bikes Hemiways and Rads. Glad you had fun!
Everyone was off the ship on excursions when I did the recording. Had I done the video with everyone on the ship, I would not have been able to ride quickly to record it easily.
Bro!!! Nice!!! My cruise is next week. Royal Caribbean, but the same itinerary. I liked Princess dining room food better than Carnival too. Holland America and Royal is better than Carnival too. Back in the day 1998 or so Carnival ice sculptures were the best. Not sure they still do it. Thanks for the preview of the land portion of my cruise. ;-). I actually was not looking forward to it...I like it hot... Caribbean or Mediterranean...but now I think I will be pleased with Alaska.
My wife says she would like too send me on a Cruise. But some how I don't think she means it in a nice way cause she wants it to be a one way trip 🤔. Anyway we're all glad you're back safe
Imagine i get King Crab leg for $18.00/lb in Florida and snow crab for$7.99....what a tourist trap, most cruise lines has a king crab special for about $40.00,i think it's worth it,will be on that ship in June..I usually just go for the scenery, spend most of my time on my balcony sipping wine and enjoying the view, don't even get off the ship when in ports..
Any issues w/motion sickness. Most major cruise lines have 24hr room service, casual dining restaurants close 10p or so. Looks like need to include Alaska cruise to My bucket list!-lol
No motion sickness. These big ships barely rock when moving in normal waters. Of course if there is a huge storm, then that's another story, but I haven't had any of my cruises do that (so far)!
Great video. I didn't know that you were mobility limited. So am I. What kind of scooter do you use ? I have a 3 wheeled spin something or other that I take to big train shows. I've run over a toe or two with it. I'm surprised you didn't show it off during the video.
I have a Pride Mobility “Go Go” portable scooter. It is a four wheel version. I had it for many years. While I can walk, there is no way I can walk the amounts needed on a cruise ship or at the excursions, so the scooter is the best way for me to get around.
I am going on the Carnival Luminosa next week to Alaska . We have not booked excursions, we were just going to do that the day of. For the Tracy Arm Fjord, do we have to book that on the cruise . It looks like a boat comes to pick you up or can we go to Port and do it ?
We booked our excursions through Carnival. Not sure if you can book it when you get to port. A "tender" boat comes to take you off the ship and that is the boat that takes you to the Tracy Arm Fjord excursion. Have fun in Alaska! I've been there twice and would go back again if I could!
Now that I think about it, the Luminosa never docked at the Tracy Arm Fjord. I just floats out there. So the only way to get off the ship is from the excursion boats taking you off. I'd suggest you book through Carnival.
Nice tour of the ship. However, least informative on the food and activities compared to other videos. And man, you're cheap! Lol! My White Pass Railway ride was only one-way going down. I did the 8-hour excursion, and the train ride going down back to Skagway.

I’m from Chicago too. I’ll be taking this cruise in June
Have fun! Are you taking the Luminosa as well?
@maryroberts2099 - how was it??

😊
Cruise ships are for eating, and eating, and oh yah, Eating! Glad you had a good time. You passed right by me in MetroVancouver!
🤣🤣
Just starting to watch this. Beautiful blue skies. I really like the lounge chair with the big wind, privacy back!
Those “pods” really cut the wind when you are in there!

Thanks. I really like Alaska. Twice isn’t even enough! One day I would like to go there fishing! 😊
And you should
Thanks for a cool fellow Chicagoan review.... appreciated the info
Thanks for watching!
@@RussIsRight did I hear you are a Vet too?
Sorry, I am not.

We are leaving next week on Thursday .. it will be our first cruise ever .. can’t wait . Thanks for the video
Have fun!

The glaciers developed just after Noah’s flood. I’m glad you had a good time, this is something I need to add to my bucket list.

Glad you had a good time!
How was the ship? Gambling options?
Has a casino of course for those who gamble.
Thanks for your video!
I’ll be on this ship cruising to Alaska in August. Your video made me feel more comfortable about booking this ship 🛳️ 😊
Glad it was helpful to you! Enjoy your cruise!

Beautiful trip! Thanks for sharing Russ.
😊
Great Video. Better than people walking and filming. Nice boat. We are going on the Spirit. 1st time to Alaska. But this boat looks Awesome. Ty
Always a good time going to Alaska. This was my second trip there. 😊
Nice review and video of your cruise. Thanks for sharing.👍

Very informative. Thanks. Now I know I can do a cruise.😊
😊
Skagway was my favortie port. We rented Trek ebikes and rode them all over town! Next time we go we will go up on the Whitepass RR and down on bikes.
👍

Skagway, Alaska. I did not ride in Alaska since I wasn’t sure I would know how to get back to the shop! 😊
@@RussIsRight Seeing countless videos of you getting lost admitting your lack of direction was a very wise choice 😂 Thanks Russ.
The ship was owned by Costa Cruise Lines,an Italian company, reason for the naked pics/statues..
Ship looked mostly empty. I never had a desire to take a cruise. I was stationed in Alaska for three years, loved it.
Everyone was off the ship on excursions when I did the recording. Had I done the video with everyone on the ship, I would not have been able to ride quickly to record it easily.
I never had a desire to take a cruise either.

Wow branching out into travel videos! Looks great! Going to Alaska myself next month: renting an electric car from Klondike Bike
Have fun!

Have fun! Yes, Carnival still does the ice sculpting. 😊
Nice video. Sold services to cruise lines in my national account days. Will go to Alaska but never take a cruise....

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Yes, from your video it looks.like that is the only option .
Rush you need to put one of your bells on your scooter
🤣🤣
if i got on a ship like that flash back of the titanic no am good 100 years later they can come down and see how im doing
They played the theme song from Titanic at one of the shows. Lots of murmurs from the audience when that happened. 🤣🤣
I imagine my 16, 18 year old teens would be bored on this type of ship as they are used to the much larger Caribbean shifts with more amenities ?
What time of year did you go.
July
What kinda scooter do u have?
Pride Mobility Go Go. Four wheel model. It is portable so that the pieces come apart to fit in the trunk of my car.
How many elegant nights?

One, but even if you don’t dress up, it is still ok.

I have been to Alaska before so I didn’t need all the excursions this time.
Would this cruise be entertaining for kids?
Sure why not?! Alaska has a lot to offer.
