Could it be that the video is advertised as "Briggs Starter Rebuild" and all he did was talk, talk, talk! He did NOT show how to remove that starter from the v=twin where the bolts require a long Torx 40 on the right side to clear the obstructions.
Easy. It's titled "Briggs starter rebuild". HE doesn't say a thing about the starter until four minutes into a six minutes video. And then all he does is show you the pieces that come in a rebuild kit. And he starts with "the customer CLAIMS..." , like he doesn't believe the customer. Rude, misleading and unprofessional. If I could give two thumbs down, I would.
None of what this guy saying has nothing to do with rebuilding a starter. Cut through the chase and disassemble the thing. Not interested in all the TALK
Easy How To Remove Lock Ring. You will need 2 Small Screw Drivers. Put one at the tip of the ring, pry it up. Move the other Screw Driver and pry the next, to move the ring up more. By the 3rd time, you can move the ring out easily. NOTE: It's harder to put it back.
Yea if you can find the damn thing after you fire the thing 100 foot across everything taking it out.. safety glasses.. those things are called jesus clips for a reason.. everytime you get one out is follower by a jesus then some cursing while a grown man crawls on his hands and knees looking for the thing..
Too much talk about everything but none on rebuilding the starter. We appre iate your knowledge of everything but please stick to the subject matter and stop dancing around with irrelevant talks
Chris...just a tip for you....if you are going to title a video Briggs starter rebuild....it is supposed to give more information than that you rebuilt a Briggs starter.... I watched this expecting that you were going to at least show how it comes apart and back together...I gave it a thumbs down...obviously just click bait for a monetized channel
Lol.. wonders where the animal hair came from after saying that there was a big rats nest right next to the fan.. i would put money on that hair being rat hair and probably had some guts and dried nasty on it also.. And i agree with the other comments, video says starter, then talks about the mower nobody cares about.. until most the way through the video then only say not to oil it and thats it.. lol.. come on now..
Try again. You wasted time talking about rats nest, animal hair and storage. Time spent reciting part numbers also wasted. Too bad you never get to the rebuild.
Appreciate the starter rebuild kit showcase. That should be the title though, as there is no rebuilding done in this video lol
Have you looked into getting that thumb amputated?

Good informational video?...what information?...How dos it help people??
Yea but how do you get all the parts off.
Now, everybody knows b&s sells rebuild kits for starters. Easy to replace , by puling c clip on end off shaft.
Ive leave my mowers outside in the elements sll summer. I wash and rinse with a hard wax. I do keep a small tarp over the motor under the hood.
Did you forget to actually rebuild it in the video?
