Another fantastic retro review with another creative introduction. I liked the intro because Spidey today would have his phone app to the Daily Bugle website or other digital app to get the breaking news where the story would be about one of the villains he fights to protect the city. In this case he's notified it's the Hobgoblin attacking. Spidey might have his mask on while trying to get some rest, and then seeing the breaking news puts his mask on all the way to get ready to go fight his foe. I agree "TASM # 259 through TASM #261" should be required reading for all Spidey fans, but especially Kelly and Ireland as they prepare to take over the writing for "ASM". Back then these issues followed the big reveal that MJ knew Peter was Spider-Man at the end of "TASM # 257" (Cover Date October 1984) and at the beginning of "TASM # 258" (Cover Date November 1984) where The Black Cat coming through Peter's window and confirming MJ's knowing Peter is Spider-Man. I've stated these many times in my comments on this UA-cam Channel. To me this was one of the most iconic moments in "TASM" History. I knew when MJ backstory was revealed in "TASM # 259", it was inevitable, Peter Parker/Spider-Man was going to break up with the Black Cat and get back together with MJ. I didn't expect it to take so long from "TASM 259" to "TASM # 292", but it did. I was disappointed Spidey didn't marry Felicia, but in the end back then, it made perfect sense for MJ and Peter to marry because she accepted Peter Parker and his Spider-Man Identity. Gwen Stacy would have never accepted Spider-Man because of the death of her father supposedly at the hands of Spider-Man in "TASM # 90" (November 1970), and Feleicia couldn't accept Peter Parker as she told Peter to put his mask back on in "Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man #87" (February 1, 1984). As MNStash referenced in this video, this would lead to many storylines after the Hobgoblin storyline. The breakup of Felcia and Peter, Felicia trying to get back into Peter's life, but it was really revenge for the breakup, the marriage of Peter and MJ, the 1st appearance of venom, etc... Again, these three issues have a great mix of Spidey action, his personal life, what's happening at the Daily Bugle, etc... I have no idea where Kelly and Ireland will take "ASM" during their run, but I'm not optimistic. The title alone "8 Deaths of Spider-Man" is an ominous title for that 10-issue storyline. I'm prepared for even worse story arcs in "ASM" for the rest of 2024, 2025, and beyond. I have the back issues like this 3-issue arc to go back and read, but I'd like to see Spidey go in a new direction. Be successful as a scientist, marry ether Felicia, MJ/Jackpot, or some other female superhero, raise a family, and become the man we want to see him become. Luckily, we're seeing some of that in "USM", but who knows what the future holds for thar comic. I'm also prepared to stop following "ASM" depending on what Kelly and Ireland do to Spidey. I continue to hope I'm wrong, but we shall see. Keep up the fantastic work. Cheers.

(made a small playlist) so I really can't wait to just dive into so many classic stories within the spider-man mythos! ive got quite a few videos on the list so far such as a OMD video, members requests and the standard new releases reviews but once all done im really hoping to go to maybe a bronze to copper age comic from spider-man or even something to do with Daredevil, we'll just have to wait and see! but thank you again for the support and for watching, its all very appreciated :)
Yes, just out of morbid curiosity. I won't follow for long, especially when Kelly and Ireland make Peter gay, bisexual, or replace him with Miles Morales. Any terrible story arc with this 10-issue storyline will mark the end of me following "ASM".
Marvel Tales reprints The best stories Spider-Man has. This includes Hobgoblin, alien costume, Mary Jane character build, Black Cat relationship. It's the best stories and my favorite style drawn. I love the Battle Van story and how It goes into the river and then after Peter gets back from Secret Wars goes to get some pictures. I love the battles in flame engulfed warehouses. I love the Puma battle where Mary Jane busted into the apartment as they go out the window. I love the gummed up web shooters and how later he uses the idea on Hobgoblin with a bomb in his hand sitting on the toilet. Amazing stories and I love the tone and the charm in this age of Spider-Man. I liked the time where Peter used both costumes when washing the other. It just puts out good vibes.
"All My Pasts Remembered!" "The Challenge Of Hobgoblin!" "The Sins Of My Father!" Hobgoblin gets badass story titles while Norman gets shit like "How Green was my Goblin"
Green Goblin at times was even a proper goofy character way back when (fake movie, broom stick, ghosts in his bag), then you got hobgoblin who was a real threat since his first appearance basically! 80s hobgoblin was shocking cool mate

You know with Peter showing even the slightest hint of maturity I couldn't resist getting reminded of another comic and no it isn't Zeb Wells; run even I'm tired of talking about that. It's another comic Tom Defalco wrote, and the sinister stupid (Joe Quesada, Nick Lowe, Dan Slott, Zeb Wells, C.B. Cebulski, and Avi Arad), have assassinated, and this time they're expanding their horizons because this time it isn't even in Earth-616. I'm of course talking about Earth-982/The MC 2/Spider-Girl comics, and Spider-Boy appearing in that universe, along with the characters from the universe being mishandled. Yes, Dan you heard that right Dan Slott wasn't satisfied with ruining Earht-616 Peter Parker/Spider-Man they have sent to hunt down other versions of him. The sinister stupid are like Darth Vader and The Emperor hunting down any mature and good version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man there is like how the Jedi got hunted down. TLDR: everyone has been talking about how horribly Earth-982 Peter Parker, Mary Jane, and Mayday Parker/Spider-Girl have been handled in the new Spider-Boy comic, and for good reason, and of course this is all because the sinister stupid can't stand the idea of one mature and good depictions of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, despite Peter Parker/Spider-Man getting amazing development in that series, which got an awful ending quite a few years back written by Dan Slott (if you precited this then I salute you captain obvious). After all, it doesn't matter which version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man it is or if he's even the main character in the series that it's a conclusion or continuation of, the sinister stupid will always hate the idea of Peter Parker/Spider-Man maturing. This is a great comic... too bad Hobby didn't stay that great under DeFalco's pen. But we can hardly blame him, sorta. We still have no idea whether Roger Stern told him who Hobby was or not.
I always found the idenity aspect so draining. like it was fine at the start the fact that even to this day theres aspects of his idenity thats still somehow confusing is stupid imo
@@mnstash Yeah, I read a series of articles over at the Spider-Man Crawlspace that went over the whole fiasco. They were trying to do a better job at the whole "Who is the Goblin" idea, because if you go back and look at the Green Goblin mystery, the reveal of it being Norman Osborn is kind of underwhelming because there wasn't enough set-up for him to warrant being Spider-Man's most deadly foe right next to Doc Ock. The problem had to do with Stern leaving the title before wrapping up the mystery (and possibly not telling anyone who was supposed to be the Hobgoblin), and Marvel wanting to milk Hobby for all he was worth.
its sad because at a time, for me at least, hobgoblin was properly my favourite foe for a certain period of the books! hes just strictly exclusive to said period, so at least hes got that😅 this issue was such good set up as well!
