28:30 definitely prefer porting for the settle instead of dev card here. Clears your hand, removes all Ore from the game which reduces the chance it's stolen from you and converted into a VP, and it prevents Purple from taking your settle spot. The dev card just isn't the play here. [Edit] Oh look what happened!
@@michael-solomon threat levels: *1. Losing the settle spot.* - Your settle spot has value for Purple because they have the Sheep port. - This player has shown they like to aggressively plow other players. - With the settle spot you have a free card on every 8, making your hand more flexible. - Without the settle spot, you need a City + VP, or 3 cities total to win. + Purple is currently capped at 5 settles, with 4 cards in hand. They must city first before taking this spot. = There is a medium risk that Purple will take this settle from you given the chance. But, losing this settlement vastly reduces your chances of winning the game. Gaining the settlement vastly increases your chance of winning the game. *2. Getting robbed for the Ore.* - You just took all the Ore from the table, making this already valuable resource extremely rare for everyone else in the following turns. - Anyone who can count knows you still have 2 Ore in hand after your dev card. Not to mention, you just pulled a dev card. - The table knows you have at least 2 non-Knight cards so you are probably on 8 points with Army locked. = There is an extremely high risk you get robbed for the Ore if anyone has a Knight or rolls a 7. *3. Rolling a 7 and losing cards.* - If you buy a Dev instead of the settle, you end your turn with 5 cards in hand. = Reasonably high risk of 7 out. And worse still if you do 7 out everyone knows you will hold the Ore, so there's even greater chance you lose the Ore in that situation. *In conclusion* Is the efficiency of a dev card purchase more efficient than guaranteed points, better economy and very low chance of losing cards to a 7? I really don't think so. Buying a dev is the least efficient way to generate a VP and the most efficient way to 7 out.

Great game Man U almost came back in such a crazy way. I think in hindsight this game showed how sometimes you might have had better chances at the end there if u focused on urself rather than if someone else can potentially win.
Man purple was insufferable this game
calling people petty while being the most petty

also keeping the wood was winning
with city pop at the end
Its not so clear; a dev was very efficient use of cards. He coyld always get the settle later

No ore?
Suppose to city the 3 4 6 instead of holding right there. You wouldve got 2 wheat and rolled a 10 on your roll for another city for the win. Misplay.
