at 9:20 you take the av. vertical effective stress as the vertical stress over 2. However, so far i've seen it as the vertical effective stress - pore water pressure in geotech, why did you divide by 2 and not use this method?
Hi , I am doing a pier foundation for solar array. I designed the pier for front and back post of the array. The back post taking more horizontal reaction than front post, so my back post pier is deeper than front. Is there any relation to increase the front pier couple of feet and reduce the back one.?
Thanks for the tutorial. Where does the formula/method come from though? I don't think my boss would be too happy if i use this and i say i saw it on youtube :D
These videos are really good Michael, I have an exam today any chance you could upload Part 3 like now.
Cheers

The subtle differences between US and UK (?) geotechnical engineering are interesting. It’s more than just a swap of units unbelievably!
Thanks so much , very brief and effective.

Was this method using Eurocode 7 methods?
Thank youuuu for this sir!
do 1 more example using critical depth concept...
Muy buenooooo.
part 3?
Thank you so much for tutorial footage.but I wonder if we could use cross sectional area instead of surface area
Could you upload Part 3 .
very interested video

I dont think you should design anything without even knowing the basics. Pls do not submit shit calculations
Practical work experience mate ;) shit calculations are exactly what I am trying to avoid
What if the Shear strength of the soil at the base of the pile is lower than the base resistance.
that is in case of cohesive soil...
+hddevani ?
different Cu ( shear strength) are taken in case of Clay ..not in this (sandy) case
thanks
speed 1.5 saves life otherwise it is not possible to follow you
speed 1.5x is ok.
