- Welcome to our Orlando travel day! We're Gaz, Anj & Ollie, a family of 3 from Manchester and youre joining us for a BRAND NEW Orlando vlog series. We start our journey at Glasgow Skyport, where we parked our car with Airport Parking before heading to Glasgow Airport. After a comfy night at Glasgow Premier Inn, we catch our TUI Dreamliner flight to Melbourne International Airport in Florida. We wanted to compare TUI’s service to Virgin Atlantic, which we usually fly, and see how Melbourne stacks up against MCO and Tampa for ease and speed. After picking up our hire car from Alamo, we drive to Orlando and check into Old Key West Resort using Disney Vacation Points for the first time.
During our 2-week family adventure, we’ll be exploring Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.

I think plane food serves a purpose. Be thankful you get some. We are going to Tenerife in October with BA. It’s just over 4 hours and is classed as short haul, so cramped seats and no food provided. Even worse according to their pre purchase menu you cannot buy any bit food. Indeed it’s just about only sandwiches. I loved Ollie’s room tour. He got the important things, I mean water pressure really is important.
I think for the price you pay for a long haul international flight they absolutely should serve food and there’s no reason for it to be bad. I get they’re limited in what they can do but other airlines (Virgin, Cathay Pacific, Singapore airlines, etc) manage to successfully offer multiple options that are more than just about edible.
If you’re flying out of Manchester when you go to Tenerife we can recommend grabbing a Barburrito to go 😆

Re room requests, we got most of ours at saratoga. I asked for top floor, paddock area in the 23 line. We got top floor 23 line but grandstand. At the poly we asked for third floor Tokelau facing away from the pool and we got third floor Tokelau facing the pool. So we usually do very specific and get 2/3rds.

Ollie's room tours are so good 😁 Our first trip at Coronado Springs was a room at the furthest point. We actually entered the room but then phoned reception and within 30 mins they had moved us. Next 2 trips we put requests in which were both honoured (I wonder if DVC members are treated differently).

He’s having so much fun doing them as well! Even when we aren’t travelling DVC we never seem to get the request through the app, definitely going to do I through chat/phone next time! I think they’ve got a little stricter on not entering the room since 2020

We were at old key west last summer. Requested millers road and not on the ground floor, we got both. Our room was like a 3 minute walk to the main building. Love travel day vlogs. Keep up the good work.

We always fly Virgin from Manchester so it was really interesting to see what the Tui experience was like to Melbourne. Loving the ‘so good’ counter, that thing is going to go crazy once you hit the parks 😂

It was definitely faster though than MCO and nice landing in to Florida earlier

We are flying in to melbourne with tui next year, great to see it on the vlog as weve never flown in to there before.
It was so easy and we were out through customs and car collected faster than any other time we’ve been to Florida!

We very rarely get resort mugs at old key west unless we’ve done a split stay because of how far the refill station is from the room. Easily my least fav resort quick service location. We’ve mostly had our room requests fulfilled on recent trips.
100% not worth it! And we agree, the quick service options are the worst out of any resort we’ve stayed at
Dreamliners have adjustable window dimmers which you can do yourself
Hence yellow tint
Yes they were the adjustable windows but it was only a few windows on our side of the plane that had this yellow tint. All the other windows were clear.

We’ve only ever gone to Florida with Tui and never had any issues
From East Midlands, Gatwick and Manchester to Sanford and Melbourne
Much preferred Melbourne
That Walmart you got stranded at was the one I tried to drive for the first time from to our villa and I have never driven again , I didn’t like it
Last year we flew with tui from Birmingham international to Melbourne international in Florida
And there’s now two places of Melbourne
There’s one Melbourne in Australia
And now Florida has Melbourne here
We were impressed with the airport! Could use a few more food options but it’s a lot quicker and easier to get out of! Also really prefer the earlier landing time!

For DVC, I've put my room request via chat right after I book the room. I think you're talking about putting your room request in the app when you check in, but I always do it via the chat feature on their website. I've only stayed twice, but I got both of my room requests, one at Animal Kingdom Lodge and the other at Copper Creek.
Yes we did it though the app, haven’t got a single one so that’s a great tip! I think we will do that going forward, do you then check in at the hotel or on the app still?
@@TheKershawsAdventures - I don't check-in via the app from a superstition standpoint. I still have a hope that the front desk will see my note and put me in the room that I request if the scheduler did not. However, rumor has it that the room schedulers will assign your rooms before check-in, so I think regardless of in-person or app, if the room-scheduler has assigned the room to you, then it will be the same either way. We were able to get the two room studio at copper creek for almost a week by requesting it when I booked it at the 11 month mark. There are only 6 of those rooms at copper creek. At Animal Kingdom we requested the safari view for the value studios with most of those rooms facing the parking lot and we were able to get the safari room for way cheaper than the standard studio safari view. So yea, get the request in before you arrive because if the rumor is true, the scheduler is assigning rooms days ahead of time (by scheduler, I don't know if it done automatically or if someone is reading the note, but I am guessing someone is reading the note, seeing if they can accommodate and if they can, they will).

Hmmm…TUI vs Virgin….thoughts? We flew from Edinburgh a couple of years ago with Virgin (usually fly from Manchester but similar to yourself saved a good amount), the drive back was a killer with the jet lag, how did you find it driving back from Glasgow?
We still prefer Virgin and will always pick them unless the price difference is too high! This time it saved us almost 2k to go with Tui from Glasgow! Although the drive back wasn’t too fun, we’d only had an hours sleep (if that) with it being an early departure and only taking 6h50 to get back 😴 would still do it again though if the price is right!
What's the alternative to hiring a car to drive to Disney? Is there a shuttle service?
There is, Tui do a service from Melbourne I believe
do you or anyone who see's this know how often or what days they do the drone show at downtown disney?

I think you’ve misunderstood what I meant. People from the UK/Europe rarely clap when a plane lands (us included) and it’s normally people from America that do. There was no Americans on board hence me saying I doubt there’d be a clap 😊
