Good morning, I have a 2010 GL 450 , when I hook up the Phoenix Max TopDon scanner, first I get is Key in Position HO auxiliary contact NO. Also I don’t hear my ESL working. Any suggestions. I really appreciate your feedback. Thanks again.

I have the "no crank no start" issue (plus "no fuel pump") on my '97 C280, but only occasionally! The first start-up in the morning always works. If I stop at the fuel station 5 minutes later, just like yesterday, the car may not start again. If it happens, all the lights are on as well as the ignition, but I don't hear the fuel pump and turning the key won't do anything. I was able to get the car started yesterday by tapping on the ignition switch (the plastic cover was already removed). The EIS or some loose connection inside or on the back seems to be the culprit here, would you guys agree? Changing the key makes no difference.

Yeah thanks this circuit 50 stuff blew my mind. The picture showing purple wire helped. Never heard of circuit 50. I do however know about a starter relay. Lift is out and inside you have pins 85,86 87, 87a and 30 - Its 87 that goes directly to the starter solenoid. Lou (a guy on youtube) told me its the wire to starter. So then just say pin 87 from starter relay.
Does anyone out there have a logical reason for why they dont say that?

The term "terminal 50" or "circuit 50" is a standardized name for the starter motor activation circuit. The organisation that made the standard is called "DIN" an abbreviation in German for their standards organisation. DIN is also responsible for the numbers on the relay pins (i.e. 30, 87, 86 and 85) as well as 15 (ignition ON), 31 (Earth), etc.

Circuit 50 for me changes from off to on but the car doesn't crank. It also doesn't show P or C or S mode on the instrument cluster when the engine is off but the key is in the ON position. Sometimes the P and C or S mode will randomly show up and then the car turns on normally. When it's on it drives normally. I also sometimes randomly get ABS and ESP inoperative messages while driving, PRE-SAFE INOPERATIVE, Steering gets harder then it goes away after a few seconds of driving. HELP!! lol

@sco234 Yes. I had a bunch of weird things happening to me, and it ended up being the front SAM fuse box. The previous owner had left it exposed a whole winter, and water had seeped in and corroded the whole board inside, causing a bunch of weird things. I ordered one used from eBay and changed it and all my problems were gone...

How do you use a scanner that majority of people don’t have, them don’t tell us what scanner you used? Should we get this & will we regularly need the scanner

I remove eis and then send away to be repaired when that happens and if both keys wont make it turn. Always come back repaired. I am learning more though. They dont like cold weather. You can get a cheap donor and buy the equipment to clone an Eis yourself. Only equipment is over a thousand pounds and repair if like under £300 so if you only doing one, send it away to Eis rebuilders. Find them on EBAY.
