holy extra woweeeeeee!!!!!! what the hell just happened? did anybody get the number of that truck? that is a force of nature. I'm sure physicists in years to come will have to re-write the books after that performance. that was just so good. I loved it. time stood still for me too.
There's this great song from 1928 by Basom Lamar Lunsford called 'I wish I was a mole in the ground' It also contains the lyrics I wish I was a lizard in the spring and has the same fingerpicking techniqs as the song I won't be found. Check it out if you get the chance, it up on youtube as well..
It's 1 in the afternoon. 73 degrees outside. Slightly cloudy, mostly sunny. A light breeze. I'm sitting on the edge of the lake shore, by. And I couldn't think of music more perfect. Thank you.
A true musician with incredible talent. Easy to say when a live performance is just as good or even better (in this case) than the studio recording. Just my opinion. Thanks for posting.
I cant stand when ppl say they hate his voice...just take a step back and think about if his voice was "smoother" for me personally his music would lose its feeling and passion its makes it more real to listen to this then the bs "hits" you hear on the radio
If your looking for a slightly softer version of The Tallest man, go check out this song: Roving Gambler by Martin Simpson. I think It sounds very similar, in fingerpicking style, dynamics, even the melodies and how it’s sung. Just a smoother voice basically.
How come whenever I type in my favorite bands/songs live. There is always a KEXP live version haha. You Americans are very lucky to have a golden radio station like this. We just have stations that play chart music.
For those of you who don't know. This is an adaptation of an old folk song titled "Mole In The Ground" The most common version is by Bascom Lamar Lunsford Nick Drake did an adaptation called Kimbie Folk music is continuous, on-going. It never dies!
@aof36 My view exactly. I love rock, jazz, blues, electronica, dubstep, folk, and tons of other stuff. We're not supposed to box ourselves in, but rather be open to all the beauty and growth that can be had through music. Props for being a Buckley fan, btw.
tritone12 that’s what I thought too a couple years ago, but now I can play quite a few of his songs. I think it was learning his songs that helped me progress the most in guitar
Well if I ever see the morning Just like a lizard in the Spring I'm gonna run out in the meadow To catch the silence where it sings I'm gonna force the Serengeti To disappear into my eyes And when I hear your voices calling I'm gonna turn just inside out Well if I ever get to slumber Just like a mole deep in the ground Hell, I won't be found Deep in the dust forgot and gathered I'll grow a diamond in my chest I make reflections as the moon shine Turn to a villain as I rest Well if I ever get to slumber Just like a mole deep in the ground Hell, I won't be found I know there is a hollow I need to fill it with a draft Of all the words that I won't say And with a quiet whisper I send a curse upon the day That never used the Sun to see the light I'm gonna float up in the ceiling I built a levee of the stars And in my field of tired horses I built a freeway through this farce Well if I ever get that slumber I'll be that mole deep in the ground And I won't be found
I watch in awe and weep at his every rendition of pain. I envy his majestic fingers that flip and pluck and sway across those crisp steel strings. He presents a precise amount of tension with every twitch and pull that shows both class and subtlety. but above all else, I want that which such only a pure souled individual such as he can possess: that fuckin' sweater! does anybody know where I can find one like it?
@dustinxrx I like this and I like dubstep. I also like Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Jeff Buckley, Yeasayer, Alexisonfire, Foo Fighters, Interpol, Metallica, James Blake, Dave Hause to name a few and what I like keeps expanding. That's what's so fantastic about music. You don't have to only like one thing. If you like it, you like it and you share it with other people who like it. Music is the best. Regardless of what genre you want to call it.
@WNSTNHWRTH thank you, I think you've pinpointed exactly what it is about his songs that just make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. in the best way possible, of course. too good..
@NunoDuarte7 he have 2 studio albums which are Shallow Grave and the Wild Hunt and 2 EPs which are Tallest man on earth and Some Times the Blues is Just a Passing Bird.
@WhimZo I'm hesitant now, but I was thinking Dylan, Nick Drake and Dave Van Ronk - not as a copy but just that it hits a nerve for me of legendary folk artists in their youth. He's got a voice that gives me chills and the lyrics are special too. There is nothing about this guy that I don't like.

Lunsford was definitely a big influence of Mattson’s, after all he covered Stepstone
thank you for sharing. hadn't heard of this before
This man is a wizard and a poet and my personal therapist.
We're in 2016 and I can't believe I'm hearing this for the first time. It's beautiful!
173rd time watching this video, jaw still drops at how amazingly talented he is.

+Mathew Burbank who has ever said they hate his voice...
His voice would have been a national treasure in 1890. Dudes voice is the wind blowing through the Olympic forest on a warm day in August.
Lots of metaphors......that's music!

i know for sure, that one day when i'm old and grey, i'm still gonna look back being thankful that i had such a beautiful soundtrack of my live.
I'm amazed how raw and pure talent can shine through someone like it does on him.
This man is an excellent guitar player. Something this god damn era seems to lack!
By the end of next year, this man is one of the most famous musicians in the world.
was actually looking for dubstep and found this amazing dude. My guitar skills want to be his when they grow up. :) MUSIC is BOSS.
The Tallest Man On Earth made the first world list, best music of the entire world 200 song list. Well done.
he can sing what people feel and try to put into thoughts when thier alone and see something mystical or meaningful to them.

Such a unique and talented voice. And his lyrics in all his songs are so good. His metaphors and analogies are so good.
he seems 100 % sincere.
His voice is AMAZING ‼️
Excellent - just amazing when you find a new sound
My jaw just shattered from dropping to the floor so hard. Damnnnnn boy don't hurt 'em....
Deceptively simple, heartbreakingly beautiful. I've been listening to him stuff nonstop for weeks now...
this man deserves to play his music in the 60s, if only there was a time machine...
an incredible and breathtaking voice. so Unique !!
Amazing talent at such a young age. If only more people would appreciate true music like this, maybe the world actually would be alot better place.
astonishing.
love it. trying to learn it. gotta longggggggggg ways to go. virtuoso level....
tritone12 that’s what I thought too a couple years ago, but now I can play quite a few of his songs. I think it was learning his songs that helped me progress the most in guitar
What he lacks in height he makes up for in spirit, soul, talent and just thought provoking amazingness.
This guy sounds fresh every time I listen to him- beautiful music.
This guy blows my mind.
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you for helping me survive this cold, cold, cold December month! :)
Amazing.
Just gorgeous
The tallest man always comforts me through sleepless nights.
He has what I call "special voice", so great song and artist! :D
This is seriously one of my fave songs EVER!
Raw pession. Just so rare in simplistic emotion.
if i could meet you once i'd be speechless. you're a legend in my eyes
Well if I ever see the morning
Just like a lizard in the Spring
I'm gonna run out in the meadow
To catch the silence where it sings
I'm gonna force the Serengeti
To disappear into my eyes
And when I hear your voices calling
I'm gonna turn just inside out
Well if I ever get to slumber
Just like a mole deep in the ground
Hell, I won't be found
Deep in the dust forgot and gathered
I'll grow a diamond in my chest
I make reflections as the moon shine
Turn to a villain as I rest
Well if I ever get to slumber
Just like a mole deep in the ground
Hell, I won't be found
I know there is a hollow
I need to fill it with a draft
Of all the words that I won't say
And with a quiet whisper
I send a curse upon the day
That never used the Sun to see the light
I'm gonna float up in the ceiling
I built a levee of the stars
And in my field of tired horses
I built a freeway through this farce
Well if I ever get that slumber
I'll be that mole deep in the ground
And I won't be found
this song kills me. breaks my heart but sooo beautiful.
This is what i want played at my funeral. Iknow that sounds wierd but i love this song so damn much.
It is a great choice.
Folk + Good Poetry = AWESOMENESS
astonishing!!!!!
time stood still is an excellent description for my reaction as well.

His voice!! °○° amazing new fan of The Tallest Man on Earth here!!!

Brilliant.
that's my favourite "tallest" song. I like your voice and the way you play guitar! You're talented!
This is good. Really good. And I just missed the show a week ago...
His ability of playing the guitar left aside, this guy has one great voice!
If I could have the talent and skill of any musician on this planet, I would undoubtedly choose Kristian Matsson
I think that is how you get to play like that... practice all day and don;t eat or sleep! amamzing talent!
my friend played him today, he's amazing. so talanted
ahahaa. his face at the very end when he says "i won't be found." soo cute. love this song.
This man is
...I think he is the best artist around now...
kexp is awesome!!!
best song ever
His music is so felt. Even though he's not a great singer; I love his voice because there's so much emotion in it.
Damn...I love it.
You can tell at some point he used to play banjo his picking is incredible
he has a few banjo songs. one on his album shallow grave. "the blizzard's never seen the desert sand" is the one
very nice! I'm going to see this guy in the botanique in Brussels, it's going to be great i think!
i dared / tried to cover it.. what a fun song to play! i love it so much. :)
He makes me stop in my tracks whenever I listen to him. It's so inconvenient.
Dude, this is officially my favorite song lol
He's SO PRETTY! ugh... Can't wait for Lolla!! :D
I watch in awe and weep at his every rendition of pain. I envy his majestic fingers that flip and pluck and sway across those crisp steel strings. Q gran canta-autor!

God, almost 7 years ago? Jeez!
7 Years or 17. It is still a bad ass song. Do YOU?
God, already 11 years now? Jeez!
@WNSTNHWRTH thank you, I think you've pinpointed exactly what it is about his songs that just make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. in the best way possible, of course. too good..
it cant be explained how fucking great this is...it just cant
He's a great artist, the happy version of Where Do My Bluebird Fly (same rhythm).
@ral008 yesssssss!!!!wish he was around when i visited sweden to see him in a wee pub...ah well ill def c him if/when he comes to Boston!!!
One day I will finally figure out how to pick this. Although never with his elegance and precision.
his new album the wild hunt is out people!!
@NunoDuarte7 he have 2 studio albums which are Shallow Grave and the Wild Hunt and 2 EPs which are Tallest man on earth and Some Times the Blues is Just a Passing Bird.
Aaaaaaah. Wow.
Its like he doesn't even realize hes playing, he just dumps out his soul, unfiltered.
@WhimZo I'm hesitant now, but I was thinking Dylan, Nick Drake and Dave Van Ronk - not as a copy but just that it hits a nerve for me of legendary folk artists in their youth. He's got a voice that gives me chills and the lyrics are special too. There is nothing about this guy that I don't like.
this quality is amazing, so much better than his album
its 1:00 in the morning, and this just made me run out to my car and get my guitar and start playing!
this guy is a mad guitarist
@WNSTNHWRTH yeah. its MINDBLASTING!
intoxicating
Epic
@nabba33
I concur, he;s too good for the masses
@vanceoliver Nick Drake actually covered it from Jackson C. Frank, a relatively unknown, yet influential folk musician.
@WoodstockJohnny We have big pupils in Sweden. You know all the snow and shit.
agreed very much agreed.
@oasisrockerross it's a Furch made in the Czech Republic. The cheapest model.
