Thanks for your honesty. So many people gloss over the difficult times of having a baby and lead others to believe that it's all roses. It's not. Far from it. Especially after a C-section. My daughters father left us when I was 4 months pregnant, but my family helped me cope. After the C-section, the loneliest place in the hospital is the maternity ward. Everyone had a spouse. I felt so alone. On day 2 another C-section mom was put in my room. It was just what I needed. We cried, we laughed, she got very sick, I helped her, best of all, her husband helped me with silly little things. When he left at night, as he was working, he filled up both our waters, made sure we could reach everything. He was so kind. My Dr ended up saving her life. She was so sick with massive infection but her Dr signed her out to go home. She had a fever, couldn't stand and she was 3 days after an emergency c section. My Dr (head of ob/gyn) came to Check me and I asked him if he would sign her out. Her Dr had gone for the weekend. He examined her quickly and said "no way are you going anywhere". He was furious the other Dr had released her. He made her all better and agreed to release us both at the same time, so neither had to stay alone. It was amazing and I don't know how I would have done it without them. Also breastfeeding, it's hard and not a competition, just like child birth. Everyone is different. You feed your baby your way. Fed baby is healthy baby. And the rash, it's almost certainly adhesive from tape. I have that allergy and it's awful. As others recommended, paper tape is the only relief I wasn't sure what it was either, but after many surgeries on many body parts and IVs, blood tests etc, it happened every time. It could only be the tape as its the only common denominator was the tape. Try to avoid that as it's worse than some of my surgeries, including hysterectomy at age 38 😭. Keep going you two! Love is amazing when there's trust and a true partnership. I never found it again and my daughter is 35 with a hubby and 2 girls of their own. She never met her father. His loss.

I am a certified nanny and its very common for first time mothers to want to do things by themselves. After the first time its easier to ask for help, but its always difficult for first time mothers who don't ask for help especially when they have any kinds of problems. I love your ability to share your problems because it helps others understand their feelings during their births. Thank you so much for being open about your situations. That rash looks very similar to the rash I got from the adhesive they used during my surgeries.

I appreciate this because it seemed very realistic. You didn’t only highlight the positives and you didn’t only highlight the negatives, which is how I see a lot of content around birth and motherhood portrayed.

My son was an emergency c-section, he was scheduled for the next week, but he scored a 2/8 on his BPP ultrasound. I was very high risk, and was very ill. I walked back for my section. I remember arguing with the anesthesiologist when they were putting in the spinal block because he kept saying to roll forward, and I told him I’d fall. It took him a good minute to realize there was no one there holding me. It was the easiest surgery I’ve ever had. I know that it’s hard for most women who haven’t had a bunch of surgeries. I’ve had so many abdominal surgeries I’ve forgotten , and my c section was the easiest. I think it is because the meds wore off gradually and I had this miracle to hold. Babies are such a blessing!

I love watching your videos because you aren't afraid to show your faith, beliefs and the way you live your lives and raise your children. In a loving character moral driven way! Drew's happy laid back sweet nature comes through to prove it!! I'm sure she's an amazing big sister! I just appreciate that you put the good bad and the ugly unlike some other's that only want to show the ups and good time's so thank you so much for letting me in your lives and follow your journey!! Congratulations on your new precious baby boy!

You’re such an honest open couple who don’t profess to be expert parents. You sharing your experiences will surely help others down the right path. Unconditional love alongside discipline of what’s right or wrong. As you say, people have different standards but kids respond to love and discipline just fine. My husband and I made mistakes, it’s impossible not to, but our three children are good human beings. We don’t always agree with their decisions in life but have supported them. They have in turn come to us asking our advice when they feel they could have done things differently. Always tell them the hardest job in life is parenting!

It’s so nice to see a couple who are both equally excited about the birth of their baby. I would have loved to have had someone be that enthusiastic about the impending birth of our baby; my husband (now ex!) sat & read a car magazine! All water under the proverbial bridge now, 37 years later, of course. But at the time, it just made me sad. I’m so happy when I see you two, and how you are with each other! I want to add that Shawn looks more & more like her mom all the time, and while Drew resembles Andrew so much, I think Jett looks like his grandpa Doug! Love you guys!! ❤️ thanks for sharing your experiences with us! Love you all!

I’m so late. I haven’t been able to watch for a while. This is a favorite subject of mine. I love to hear and talk about birth stories but I don’t get to talk about it often, it makes for great conversation with others who’ve given birth. Everything you’re describing is very much the norm. Hormones cause so many mood shifts in the way we think and feel. Our bodies AND MINDS are affected by the hormones running loose around our bodies, trying to level out. Dad’s feed off of mom’s emotions because they have been so attentive during pregnancy, they can feel many things we are going through. Jett James East, I love it. When you threw it out in the baby name video, Jett stuck with me.

My skin does that with any adhesive applied. I had it after my C section but also had in earlier when I used the patch for birth control. It took a while for it to go away, but the best thing was keeping it clean and dry, and also letting air get to it.

Thank you both for sharing your honestly about your baby
    journey.
I believe I suffered from postpartum depression when I had my first son. But it was never discussed or mentioned within my family.
My mom & aunts were always suppose to be strong & manage through from childbirth , newborns, nursing & being the perfect wife.
Thank goodness my husband was always “hands on” .. he also gave me time to take a breath & he would not hesitate to cook .
Nursing for me was very isolating-it triggered more sadness & depression. My cousin & pediatrician told me it was good idea to pump & allowing to take that pressure off. I breast feed my first born 6 months… my middle son only 4 weeks ,my 3rd son 2 weeks. With my youngest son, we had to play the “find the right formula game” as he had stomach issues, even when I breast feed . Once we found the right formula-soy (He was lactose intolerant ) he was happier, like to be fed.
Something I went through was when I had my 2nd son, I felt guilty for having another baby. That somehow it wasn’t fair for my firstborn. I thought how could I have done that to him.(give him a sibling without him knowing)!
I read the baby books to prepare if the firstborn doesn’t except the new baby, how firstborns might be mean or try to hurt the newborn. My firstborn son was happy & a great big brother.. he actually was only mean towards me a few times. Once when I was breastfeeding, he walked outside our house -told me he was going to run away. Another time, while breastfeeding he walked by me & threw some water down my back.
My firstborn was 4 years old when I had my 2nd son. Another thing I was worried about was, my firstborn was born on February 17th, my due date was February 21st for my 2nd baby. Thank goodness 2nd baby boy was born February 3rd.Then with our 3rd baby , due date was February 11th. Our 3rd son was born on February 7th.
Yes all my sons are February babies … not planned. I was just told that most women are most fertile during their birthday month.
As moms , we carry guilt for many reasons when it comes to our babies & husbands.
Mom’s are truly made out of
    Steel, sugar & flowers.

I can totally relate to your experience. My c section in March was because my baby was small/early, but I had gestational hypertension and pre-e. All the epidural and c-section meds had me so out of it, I don't think I could hold up my arms and needed help to hold and nurse the baby. I vomited at least 6 times DURING the surgery, not to mention after. Such a tough experience.

Excellent video. I had three C-sections to be able to bring my three children into this world. Each was a different experience. One was emergency and the other two were scheduled surgeries.
Your rash looks a lot like my husbands rash from clear surgical tape. Only clear tape is he allergic. It's weird but it broke out all over his body like tiny chicken pocks almost.
Love that you are so caring and loving and open to each other. Communication is such an important part of life/marriage/children. Thank you for sharing your experience and love those babies as they are the greatest gift. To bring children into this world with the husband and wife you adore is such a blessing.........it is magical and blessed experience, nothing words can even explain.......it's a feeling you share between you both for life.

I love your story. I too had a very scary delivery of our beautiful 9 lb 14 oz baby girl, our 1st and only baby, and had my heart set on a natural birth and ended up with a c-section which also required suction as she was stuck against my pelvic bone. I didn't get to see her except for her face as they let me kiss her cheek and they took her away. I didn't get to touch her for a couple of hours after I had her. It was excruciating! I felt that everyone got to see her but me. It ended up being for my health reasons and am grateful for my care team but it is a very emotional experience.

My 2nd 1 was 2 weeks late and then our heart stopped, So ended up with an emergency section. My 3rd was 4 weeks early and no problems whatsoever with my c-section. My 4th schedule c-section at 37 weeks. 5th was by far the worse. I started out awake and then they had to put me to sleep, The whole thing took 3 hours to fix me backup. My 6th (37 wks)was like a cake walk...lol. And my very last one was my little peanut (37wks). All of them but one came with their complications. And all but 2 were in the Nicu. My second delivery went just like your second. My blood pressure tanked and I felt myself blacking out on the table in the middle of the delivery. She was also stuck in my pelvis and I felt like they were pulling me off the table to get her out. It was so scary. I threw up every day of that 9 months carrying her too. It was a mess! Great show! My baby girl, I was in labor for 34 hours before they detected a ship in her heartbeat so they did an emergency c-section. She weighed 8 lbs and was 20” long.❤

I work in the dermatology field. There is a new PCR test that is a cheek swab that can check for many medication allergies through GTI. It would be interesting to see if it’s a drug rash from the csection.

For the rash!! - I didn’t ever see that rash until I was pregnant with my first. I have TONS of pics where it would mostly appear on my thighs, lower belly. And I blamed it on pregnancy, but it continued throughout my life since then. And I noticed it only pops up in times of extreme stress. Even when I didn’t know I was under stress, my body knew. Super itchy, uncomfortable, u pleasant to look at. If I could post pics on here I would, but it’s identical! And that’s just my experience, it could be an allergic reaction as well.. But that’s what I observed. Keep an eye on it if it ever comes back! And take into consideration what is going on in current life. Love you guys! 💜

I also had a 9lb 14oz boy c-section. I am not 4 ft 10, so its not the same but my waist was 42 inches. My son is now 6 ft 4 in. May your family always be happy and healthy. The rash is contact dermatitis (I am an RN who suffered from it after my c-section) it is from adhesive tape (most likely-its a common allergen, much more common than you would think) from now on ask for papertape it is made with a non-allergic glue. Use paper tape foe any taping- IVs, blood draws, everything. To ease the rash -California baby Calendula cream is awesome in healing it and reducing itch. Apply 2-4 x a day. Amazon or Target infant

My 1st child weighed 9lbs 10 oz and was an enormous 23" long! Adam was a beast! 3 years later we had boy/girl twins at 38 weeks that weighed 5.15 and 6.15. 18" long each! They were great sizes but so teeny tiny! Both were sections. 1st after 12 hours of labor.

When I had both my boys, I had to have epidurals. The surgical tape they used to hold the I.V. caused a horrible, painful, extremely inflamed and itchy rash that lasted for days. Cortisone cream helped some.

My mothers' paternal uncle was 15 pounds at birth, and her dad was 10...and this was at the turn of the 20th century...without anesthesia! My great grandmother was 18 the first time, and around a size two. She said the birth of the 15 pounder was so terrible it took her ten year to have the second, the ten pounder; as said, my moms' dad. I recognize the rash: it's combo adhesive/latex.

I am allergic to the sterile drape they used for my 1st c section. I had hives all over my stomach in the shape of a square. My daughter was kinda on the side so the drape wasn't placed in a straight square on me. Which is why it was so obvious what caused it. So when I had my second section, I reminded every single person on my care team to make sure they knew I was somehow allergic to the drape. So they used something else and I didn't have the rash this time.

Hey east fam . our family love’s watching you so much over the years an enjoy all your content, just wanted to hopefully give y’all some d
Advice about the rash part of drew an jets birth . I have three children myself an the last two were c- sections but I also have cancer but this was diagnosed after I have had all three of my baby girl an sons , but just hope this will help answer this for you because my children are now 19,14,&16. I got a huge rash wherever they use the adhesive tape it took them once I went to Mayo Clinic to figure this out for my port an I just couldn’t take it with the rash mostly being the worst an the burning, itching, an most of the time blood mainly from wherever they directly put the adhesive tape they told me it was they use a much stronger tape that what you buy over the counter is why I never looked into seeing if I was maybe allergic to it somehow but not my 19 year old daughter has had the same issues with it for a long time now . They just have me tell them anytime I’m going into a hospital or to get an Iv or anything involving that tape just to let them know your allergic a they will put a red band on you so no one makes a mistake an puts it on you by accident they can use paper tape . I hope this helped in someway or another I didn’t understand or know for a long long time as well an didn’t really understand why the doctors didn’t have any idea but yeah like I said I hope this helps in the future. I just got done watching the episode been in treatment so no phones allowed but again your family is so beautiful an your both such amazing people an have the most adorable children an oh can’t forget Nash he’s precious as well brings me laughter an smiles when I get to see your episode’s . Sorry this comment was so long I have her wrote one to anyone in my life but you two are so amazing an putting out so much positivity but also keeping it real for the good the bad an ugly an like me still try to find the blessings in all the madness so I know that was not much advice I just know that’s exactly what it has done to me every time an now every day I have to go in for treatment. Love you both an god bless.❤️🙏😇

Rash: I had the SAME THING! I thought I was allergic to the pain meds so I stopped taking them. I went to a different hospital to have my second c-section and no rash! I talked to the doctor about it throughout my pregnancy and they said it was probably from what they clean you with before surgery!

There are parts of my labor during my first C-section that I don't remember. We had a rocking chair in the room. I remember talking about sitting in the rocking chair, but I don't remember actually sitting in it. There is a picture of me in it and I look sooooo drugged.
We recorded my first C-section, back rehab you could do that. During my second C-section, I had them set up mirrors so I could watch the operation. They started recording once they started pulling my baby out.
