How to Sample Tints and Transparency with the Eyedropper Tool in Illustrator

- In this video I'll show you how to sample tints, transparency or colors created by overlapping shapes with the Eyedropper Tool. It's really neat way to get solid colors from effects of overlay or multiply color effects or getting tints as solid colors for your designs.

Thank you so much! I read so many threads and people saying just flatten transparency or rasterize and I sat here like, it is NOT the same color, but this worked perfect!
Thanks 😊
Why in the world this video doesn't have more views???? Great video. No annoying background music or mumbo jumbo. Straight to the point. 👍
For an Illustrator rookie like me, this video has been a life saver. Thanks so much! 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks😁 I guess UA-cam algo just doesn’t favour me lol
@@Vectortwist The "problem" is that there are so many Illustrator tutorials. I just did a search about the eyedropper tool and came across your video.
It was my lucky moment. I will certainly watch all your Illustrator videos for sure. 🤗
All your tutorials are excellent, informative, and very much learner friendly. Here I want to specifically thank you for a short cut I learnt from you, is the use of up and down arrow keys while using transform panel. It has made my work easier, faster and precise. Thanks again.
thanks for the kind words and I am happy that my tutorials have helped you :), that's why I make them.
+ Make sure the navigator window should not be over any applied blend mode artboard /graphics. If it is move it another place
this is so important!
WOW!!! This is incredibly useful. Incredibly!
Thanks
Brilliant solution! Thank you :)
Thanks for this, this really helped me out today :)

PRO TIPS HERE
Even better, you can do EXACTLY the same, BUT targeting the content of a "New window" instead of the tiny "Navigator panel".
Simply click on the menu "Windows > New Window" (to show a copy of your main tab window). Then "Windows > Arrange > Tile". Then follow the tutorial process, but target the "New window" content instead of the (too tiny) "Navigator panel" content.
P.S. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this Navigator tricks. I discover it today thanks to your video, and it's priceless! Big thumb up:)
I propose this trick, because when we use a lot of Artboards, the Navigator tricks become unusable since everything becomes too tiny in the Navigator panel.
Thanks for the tip 😀 will definitely use it!
Useful tutorial begins at 1:17, passed the 50% mark. The navigator window is fun and all but if the shape you're sampling the colour from is small it won't work.
An old odd trick that still works is to cmd+n, make the new window small, click and hold the pipette tool on the new artboard and drag it over to the desired colour on the other artboard. Done.
Thanks 🤗
You're welcome :)
Hello Mam How to create magazine design in illustrated??🙏
👍👍👍👍
This is interesting. I need to noodle more with this. My result is better using the navigator window. But.. I have an EVER SO SLIGHT difference between this 60% opacity of a CMYK color, and trying to eyedrop that as a solid color. Looks like a degree between 2 to 5% difference.
So smart! I find it odd that the shift + eyedroper doesn't do this.
I know, the transparency is the issue, visually you'll see another color but Illustrator sees the value applied to the object, the visual one.
This doesn't work for me, it's still changing the colour to 100% white. (I have a 50% white circle over a purple background)
After much noodling around, I figured out why it's not working -- the navigator window can't be over anything. If it is, the eyedropper will select the colour under the window, as if the navigator window isn't there at all.
How to stop this shit to not copy text properties font size color all thing change .
What if i want only color from another text
You can set the properties for the eyedropper in Illustrator, double-click on the eyedropper tool in the tool bar and deselect what you don't want to be selected. I hope that helps.
