    Another terrific video. I might reverse the one wheel to make the opposite tire cut.

    When I was a kid, my dad worked at a factory that made tractors and bought me a toy tractor. That tractor spent many days of hard work in the sandbox. In later years it was retired and now sits on my desk. As such, I believe myself to be an expert on toy tractors and qualified to say that your tractor is an excellent toy! In particular, the rear wheels are great. I'm sure your granddaughter will love it.

    I was so happy when I saw you had designed another toy. The tractor is awesome and I completely agree with your decision to model it after older tractors. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to see you design some accessories for the tractor in a future show. Thanks Kenny. Another great show.

    Absolutely love this tractor build and pattern ! Yes, I like the older style tractors too. I was raised on a farm in Iowa in the 50's through the 70's. Dad had the Farmall brand tractors that this could be a replica of. Also, thank you for passing on the plastic washer idea. It wasn't mine originally, but it deserves to be passed on. Lastly, you are so correct that there are tons of things that you can add to "upgrade" the tractor, but what a wonderful place to start !
    Keep up the fantastic work !

You might want to check out DMIdea UA-cam channel, he has 2 scroll saw projects of tractors, one of them is I believe a 1920's tractor exactly like the ones you saw in Iowa. I hope you like it!

    In the late !950's, I believe I was the only kid in our village that peddled down the street on a Red 1940's style tractor. All the rich kids had peddle cars. My tractor was a second hand gift. It had rubber spark plugs on each side of the motor. I loved my tractor. Thanks for bring back some fond memories! Your tractor project was awesome! A simple pattern that was very realistic! Your idea was perfect! Another great heirloom toy. You making the pattern makes it worth even more. It is not boring to look at! Enjoyed. Take care!

    I finally beginning to see that the layering of pieces is what makes the detailing so much easier. Different details for each side would be just as easily accomplished. And the layering could be any number and also varying thicknesses as well. You are brilliant.

    Great video and a wonderful design. I completed one today and found a way to make cutting the large tires a bit easier. If you mark just a tick mark on the edge of the tire, you do lose a way to align the wheel after cutting 6 segments. However, instead of making just a tick mark, I used a combo square and a white pencil (since I was using dark walnut) and I extended the "tick mark" all the way across the tire surface so that even when some of it is gone due to the cut, enough remains in front of the kerf that lining it up on the center mark is still an easy doable process.

    Just found you. I have a grandson now and would like to make some of your toys. Very well done. Does the book of patterns have a recommended age group for the toys? Just want to be careful.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings

      I don't have a book Thomas but every pattern that I offer on the show is available to download for free from my website. Just visit acutabovewoodworkings.com and click on the free patterns section. I made all these toys for my granddaughter and at the time, she was quite young at around 2 years old. She is 4 now and still plays with them. That being said, no shop made toy should be given to a child to play with, without adult supervision. Parts are too easy to come off. If you are wondering what parts will count as a choking hazard, you may want to check out my show on that exact subject. You can find it here. ua-cam.com/video/m6DhKG58AJI/v-deo.html

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  2 роки тому

      A router table would work also Dana. If you don't have that tool, you could always use a hand saw to cut the outer edges of each tread and then clean out the middle with a chisel. It would be time consuming but doable. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.

    Sorry to disagree, but the back tires ruin it. It would have taken little more time to make two half thickness disks with opposing treads and you would have something that actually looks like a tractor tire. Other than that, it looks great.
