In this video I'll show you how you can make a wooden (toy) Volkswagen Beetle/Bug. Working with old skateboards is such a sweet thing, with those beautiful colours.

As a friend of mine says, "you have mad skills", I've yet to get into making toy cars, I do a lot of plaques and Christmas ornaments. Been getting ready for our towns "Street Fair", held twice a year..... I love scroll sawing, been doing it for 25-26 years now, in fact I have a 20" RBI HAWK SAW that is 23 years old. About 6 months back I finally had to replace 1 bearing, other than that the saw looks as new, lol. You have inspired me to jump out there and work on some cars. I am currently in a forced retirement due to fighting stage 3 lung cancer, I BEAT the cancer, just didn't beat the chemo and radiation, lol. My energy and stammina runs very low. I have my little shop set up so I can do most everything sitting in an office chair as I can't stand very long, give out very quick. I do spend as much time as I can in my shop. It keeps me somewhat sane, lol. Keep up the great work, it is fantastic......

Love the beetle. Picking up a belt/disc sander this week. Dust collection installed with pick-ups everywhere and another power circuit to have more points. I want to do a land rover which I owned next. Keep up the good work

Great work Jolien as always, The saw blade you are using to rip your timber is indeed a ripping blade (not many teeth) and do a rough cut and those saw marks are normal using those blades. There is a couple of ways to prevent this happening; first select a multi purpose blade that has more teeth, this will give you a much smoother cut. Alternatively you can cut your timber using the blade you have in at present a little over size and run the timber through your thicknesser to get a smooth finish. Cut your timber longer than you need if you are using the thicknesser to do this as you will need to cut off the snipe.

Incredible work with all the details Awesome job!!! Keep up the awesome work. **for your saw first easy things clean the blade and fence. With everything out of the way turn on the saw see if your blade looks straight or looks like a wobble to and shut down. If all checks out then comes to measuring. Let us know there are a lot to look for. Take Care

@@JolienBrebels one of the common reasons for getting marks is the fence and the blade are slightly out of alignment. Make sure they are as close to parallel as you can get them. Also can be caused by blade wobble as mentioned above. Awesome video! I subscribed.
Hi Joline, in order to get smooth cuts from your table saw you need to make sure that the saw runs with as little vibration as possible. That is quite a fancy multipurpose tool that you have, which could make it very difficult but not impossible to run smoothly. I would start by putting a dial caliper attached to the table and see what type of wobble is in your blade. Make sure that your blade is parallel to grooves in your table top and is set at 90 degrees to the top. Not sure how the blade is connected to the motor, but I put a linked belt on my table saw to help take out vibration. Do you have an out of balanced blade? Try another blade or check to see if your blade is out of balance. There are large washer like discs that you can put on your blade to help smooth out the run, however they will limit your depth of cut. Better to make sure that the arbor is in good shape with regard to run out in both axial and radial directions. Hope these couple of steps help, good luck. Great videos, thumbs up.
Hi Craig, thanks for your information! My blade is not out of balance. But I think I'm using the wrong blade, and my lumber is not always perfectly square. I can live with it that I need to plane it down haha

Dag Johan, dankjewel! Meestal gebruik ik beukenhout, dat is langs eik en den ook het enige hout dat ik ken bij naam haha. Destijds stuurde ik mijn plannen nog door via mail, maar mensen vroegen me steeds meer en meer hoe ze me konden bedanken/steunen. Dus nu heb ik vorig jaar in september een Patreon pagina opgericht. Hier kan je lid worden voor 4$ en zo krijg je onder andere de tekeningen voor de vw beetle en nog een stuk of 20 andere wagens. Je kan kiezen om me eenmalig (1 maand) te steunen, of je kan je lidmaatschap enkele maanden laten duren en zo genieten van nieuwe plannen die er steeds weer bijkomen.

Inderdaad dat hoort erbij, en die laat ik er dan ook graag in! Ja, hij is nog scherp en draait ook zuiver, hij vertoonde dit echter al van in het begin. Ale, bij ieder zaagblad heeft hij dat gehad.
Would a featherboard help reduce the marks at 1:10? Otherwise I'd say a more steady feed rate into the saw.
Yes maybe tthat can be the solution. But is it safe to use a featherboard with a riving knife?
Knap gemaakt. Heb je daar soms plannen van, kan namelijk niet goed tekenen. Waarom zaag je de plankjes niet met de lintzaag, die je toch blijkbaar hebt, om die zaagbladgroeven te vermijden?
Dankjewel Stef! Ik zag dat je een mailtje stuurde, op zondag beantwoord ik mijn mails. Ik zaag ze niet op de lintzaag omdat ik hier een fijner blad op heb liggen en niet wil dat het zo gauw slijt :) dus dan maar gewoon wat meer schaven om het zuiver te krijgen :)

Hello Jolien. Nice car and very nice work. You ask why your table saw left hard cut marks on your wood. Well IMO there are many reason. Dull blade, repeated cut through the same kirf. The biggest one for me is, are you using a cross cut blade to rip? or vise verse? This can be the main reason for the mark. I am new to your channel having just found it checking out one of your car videos on a whim. I would suggest you research table saw blades to get a good understanding of what to use when, if you don't already know. I would suggest you look at "Diablo" saw blades website "www.diablotools.com" and watch some videos on their site. Vibration cat be a big problem leaving heavy blade marks. I know this video is a year old so if you have solved your saw cuts just ignore this comment. Hope to see more from you. Good luck.
