As a DIY homeowner too, I really appreciate your transparency. It's easynto get caught up in the notion that every project goes without a hitch when people edit everything! Mistakes are human and thank you for sharing all sides with us

It hurst me to drill holes into my home's brick. So what I did was dug up a hole near the spigot and installed a cedar treated post, painted it black, and toped it off with a solar light, then I used that post to install my hoselink, and on the sides of the post I installed some brakes "hooks", so I can hang some hanging flower baskets off of them. I just couldn't make the commitment of drilling through my brick. If I decide that I no longer have a need for it or want to move it, I just have to dig the post up or cut it below the dirt. No holes to repair or paint to touch up.

Oh dear….its never fun to hit a water line. I accidentally shot a Brad nail into our main sewage line….yeah that was no fun and also pretty pricey. Repairing the drywall isn’t the most fun either. I’m sorry you had that happen, but I’m glad they were able to access it and also glad you have a nice neighbor. :) On a positive note, the fence looks amazing! I did that summer before last and my poor arms felt like they were vribrating for hours after I finished! 😂😂😂 Oh what we do to make things look nice and last longer! 😊

It sucks to break a pipe, especially that time of day. You got lucky, thank God for great neighbors. The yard/patio is looking nice.

Seal won’t last in TX. I did it and got two years before I grayed out. I went with stain and it looks great. I went with a color similar to your deck, just a bit warmer.

Yikes!!! What I’ve seen people do is dig a hole place a 4x4 and cement it for 2 reasons
To avoid drilling through siding and second to be able to take hose with them if they move. Once it’s drilled into the house you can not take it unless you remove it b4 you list your house s d then need to patch holes.

Can you update us on the hose in a few weeks? It's so much cheaper than a Hoselink but wondering if it holds up well. Thank you!

Oh my dear! Those yard gremlins are really throwing wrenches 🔧 in your outside plans…the finger and now the pipe. Little stinkers. I hope the rest goes off without a hitch and they settle down already. Seriously it’s looking good and gonna make your summer great (although I confess I’m not ready to see satan running around this summer while I boil!)

I recently found your channel while researching about whitewashing my brick. I really enjoy your videos and have been going through from the beginning. I appreciate that you keep in the hiccups and frustrations. DIY is super satisfying but definitely has its moments. Love seeing all you have done to your house. 🙂 Great motivation and tips as I prepare for my upcoming projects.

I would add a fitting to the faucet on the outside. It moves too much when turning on the water. Over time you might break the pipe.

your home is lovely except for your garden. Why not plant some bushes and trees? you could have some hedge type against that ugly fence to cover it. As it is it is very bare, do you not like gardening? sorry if this sounds rude but as a keen gardener I hate to see empty gardens!

    • @KelseyRomitoDIY
      @KelseyRomitoDIY  6 місяців тому

No, I don’t really like gardening but the main reason I don’t want to fill it with plants is because I have kids who use the backyard to play. The backyard is already small enough.

Right before you said it, I was thinking, “Sounds like one of those things that I’d on the weekend when the plumber is double.”
    Yup.
The main reason I never had a pool is because I know I could not keep up with it. I think it’s normal for it to go green when it’s not in use.
Wow though. Look at how much better all the deck looks with every thing you’ve done back there! That adds so much value to your home.
    Also, the power wash-sooooo gratifying!

I wondered also if you took a paint brush and brushed the bleach on to the furniture instead of spraying it, if it would go faster? Just a thought.
