    Bruno has always wanted to play as an 8 btw. He has said this in multiple interviews. Howe wanted him to be a 6 bc he was better there at the time. Bruno wanted to play 8 like he did for Brazil.

    I feel the Pirlo comparison with Tonali is slightly unfair, at least for now. Tonali is a mix between Gattuso and Pirlo. But more level-headed than Gattuso, and much faster than either. Tonali in the deep 8, call it a 6 if you like but we're still playing a rotating triple 8 just with slightly more defined roles than before, gives Bruno the freedom to be the forward destroyer and playing the aggressive forward passes that is his absolute strength. We've been waiting for it to click on between them. It finally has. And it's a joy, nay, a privilige, to watch.

  • @earthlingcarl3179

    Beating Villa, a top 6 contender is the real test, if we lose that one then gift Man Utd a win the following game it's all back to doom and gloom. My "we're back" powder is staying dry for now.

      @toming727 Місяць тому +1

    Have to say it was really poor how close to the precipice you got about Eddie. Oh ye of (ironically) little faith. The man's track record with us (and astounding achievements with Bournemouth that most 'top' managers could not replicate) is tremendous. I know it's a supporters' podcast and it gets emotional but the veering from 'fcuking class' to catastrophe is too erratic. There isn't a manager in the best league in the world I'd swap him out for. Getting a tune out of Ashley era players who should be discarded, not being backed in the market, having a bull in a China shop sporting director rocking the boat imposed, his boardroom allies being shoved out etc The man, like anybody, is not perfect but he is a superb coach/manager, a credit to the club and a good man. He's our biggest asset. Be careful for what you wish for if he were to go.

      Other than the Paul Mitchell comment, i agree with you. It was frustrating for Howe not to see the midfield solution sooner but that's no reason to call for his head. Great manager and as you say, nobody comes close who can do a better job

    • @dcro1211
      @dcro1211 Місяць тому +3

      @robferriday9945 Mitchell managed to upset a lot of people almost immediately. It's well documented. Very ill judged spoeches to various club employees and officials. He needs to walk the walk with signings to back up his self-aggrandisement and talking down of how the club had operated (very successfully) Doesn't bode well but jury out.

    • @robferriday9945
      @robferriday9945 Місяць тому +3

      @@dcro1211 I have no idea what he said to certain employees so I'll take your word for it mate. With regards to how our club operated before hand, I would agree with him that our recruitment wasn't fit to comply with PSR and it did need improvement. That's evident in the sale of Anderson and Minteh and buying a needless £20m keeper just as a favour. Thats not necessarily picking fault with the players we brought in (other than Barnes IMO), but probably picking fault with our trading with players like Miggy, Wilson etc and generating funds. Time will tell mate!

    • @dcro1211
      @dcro1211 Місяць тому +2

      @robferriday9945 We agree on a lot. Barnes made no sense. We had Gordon, Willock, Big Joe and (at the time) Isak all as options for LW. That money had to go elsewhere. On Mitchell, you Don't start a new role bigging yourself up and criticising how it's been before you arrived. I've had a 'leader' like that. It's cack handed and people don't like you from the start. Been very patronising about Eddie. Describing himself as 'elite' too. PSR handling was poor yes but signings been incredible and superb value. Mitchell has it all on to match that.

    • @robferriday9945
      @robferriday9945 Місяць тому +1

      @@dcro1211 I agree mate, he could have conducted himself better! I do believe he is elite (Given his resume) and I'm happy he describes himself that way but like you say will he be elite for us? Only time will tell. I do think it's all been buried though now. I'm glad that the team appears to be ticking again, it was only a matter of time. We should do everything we can to keep Howe as long as possible

    2 points. 1) Tonali came from a slower football culture and was then out for 10 months so it has taken time to get up to strength and speed and match sharpness. 2) We had to win games while Tonali got up to speed so Eddie had to be damned sure before he made the switch. I wonder if Eddie has just won the World Cup for Italy!

      And what if Isak pulls a hamstring? We need a striker and a winger plus Botman back. Schar wasn’t tested against Leicester and Ipswich but he’s got more bad defensive performances in him. Trippier is ready to step in for Tino who is looking a bit shaky in recent weeks for whatever reason. Top 4 is going to be difficult and that’s before you consider our record at big six grounds, we still have to travel to 5 of them plus Brighton and Villa. Can’t afford any more slips up like West Ham and Brighton at home.

    I have to say the last week has been brilliant and those who cannot praise the team and Eddie ( level of opposition) are as bad as those who refuse to criticise.
    We Judge on performances, Dubs and Murphy are proving a lot of people wrong but it was okay to question them. It’s what high level sport is all about.
    Some thought it was down to Eddie some thought the players just weren’t good enough.
    Both could be proved wrong and that would be brilliant

    I wonder if the critics of Eddie Howe who always say “it’s not working” could tell me what bit isn’t working? Serious question. What wasn’t working and what is now? (Answers of “the midfield/ Bruno and Tonali etc”will need specifics, please).

    • @cb-tk6qd
      @cb-tk6qd Місяць тому

      I’m an Eddie fan, but I’ll have a go on what’s working in midfield. Tonali does the running and closing down of long staff, keeps it simple and passes early (unlike Bruno who holds on to it at 6 for contact), and is able to retain possession and pass forward with ease (unlike Longstaff). Plenty of people here have said how good Bruno is at 8 (I still think it’s taking him time to get used to playing the position again regularly, but it’s all upside with his skill level and ability to close nervous defensive mids etc on the ball). Joelinton fits around those 2. Oh, and Tonali can overlap Bruno turning on the ball with his running power. Yep, Tonali has transformed this team

    • @cb-tk6qd
      @cb-tk6qd Місяць тому

      @geordiedog1749 everything else in front 3 flows from there. They are getting the ball earlier and in good positive positions. Especially Murphy who really struggles retreating and receiving with his back to goal. Hall going forward and making space for others wasn’t enough, we needed the centre mids to click and now it has. HWTL

    Too much praise too soon. Brentford B team, Leicester, and ipswich are not a barometer of our season. The next 2 games will tell us all we need to know about consistency. Villa and man utd are direct competitors judge him after those.

      @yogihightower Місяць тому

      @Cristobal_2012 wtf are you talking about? 2 matches ago I said eddie should be judged after the next 4. Half the fans think eddie is safe after 1 victory and is god after 2. Those wins were against teams right at the bottom, if we were fight relegation that would be enough but we are hoping our best players won't get bored and want to leave so that takes a top 6 finish at least. Villa and man utd will let us know if he has turned things around or this is another false dawn.

    I don’t understand why some of our fans have to drag Bruno down in order to praise Tonali .. can’t we appreciate the pair of them ? … Bruno is unique, he pulls the strings and with Tonali taking responsibility for policing the centre of the park Bruno is now finding himself in some dangerous positions in the opposition’s box…. You don’t find many Bruno’s around, can we just appreciate him AND Sandro rather than acting like some spoiled brat with a new pony that daddy has brought home finding fault with their old one.

Also your "made no sense" not starting Gordon and Sandro but you forget to mention we were 2-2 at halftime and actually should have been 3-1 up (as Issac waltzed around the keeper nd Harvey gave a goal away).
