Watching Double Trouble tear Catra down was double-sided even on that front for me. It was sad for Catra, but at the same time it's *what she really needed.* She's evaded over and over the thought that any of this could be *her* fault. No, it's always Adora, or Shadow Weaver, or anyone but her. "You made your choice. *NOW LIVE WITH IT!* " Her entire redemption arc hinges on that message having finally made it through.
Her original look is actually beautiful and I just love her and her green skin and sharp ears and tall body and creepy eyes and her ABILITY TO SHAPE SHIFT! EDIT: Also, SORRY!! I mean them, ofcourse heh
"Scorpia is best girl?" Weird. See, I'm British so I understand some things are spelt differently here compared to America, but for future reference I think it would be easier for everyone to spell it as "Hordak."
Yeah i mean, in the end she wanted to be helpful to her friends and save Glimmer from Prime, she just wasn't sure how so she wanted to help with the best thing she could do- science.
So basically, Double Trouble's character is "be gay do crimes"? Also, I think the moment with them and Catra was more of a wake up call for Catra. True, she doesn't deserve how Shadow Weaver treated her, but she is responsible for pushing people like Scorpia away, or Adora when she kept asking Catra to come join her and then blaming them for abandoning her because she can't deal with her own issues. Double Trouble is a perfect character for the others development because they have no emotional baggage like the others do and can view the situation their in objectively and give it to them straight (or not so straight, cause, y'know). I can't wait for the next season!
I definitely appreciate how Shadow Weaver wasn't "redeemed." Much like Adora leaving the Fright Zone, she's still ultimately the same person. And you make a great point in how it emphasizes how Adora was able to move past Shadow Weaver's past abuse and tolerate her while Catra could not and obsessed over her long after they were gone from her life. Scorpia: Forget the Fright Zone! Forget Hordak! We could, you know, _be happy._ *But she won't.*
Well, maybe Catra can't really forget or forgive or get over it... which is logical, knowing she was the most abused of the Horde kids. That's basically her whole character: she stays in the Horde and becomes this evil Horde commander because she can't just move on from her past, or her trauma. And she still didn't get help or therapy to move on either, it's quite the contrary (with Scorpia accepting Catra's toxic behavior like it's normal and Double-Trouble betraying her). And I don't think Adora quite healed from her abused childhood with Shadoweaver either. She may lives in the same place as her former mother figure, but she is not happy about it, it created a rupture between her and Glimmer and I don't think it's doing wonders for Adora's mental health.
Fun fact! Most of her lines are done by giving her voice actress a synopsis of what is happening and (because she is hilarious and amazing) she comes up with the material that is used! Sure there are some scripted lines but it's mostly genius improv
Scorpia: *sees another version of herself* Scorpia: I have a TWIN?? *rambles about always having known there was something missing* Scorpia: Ah no. Hordak probably cloned me. I did sign a lot of paperwork at one point.
I think that Shadow Weaver doesn’t have good intentions. She’s definitely a complex character, but she manipulated both Catra and Adora to get to Brightmoon, and the scene where Micah gets back from Beast Island she is sitting on the throne. She’s power hungry, and the show is good at showing it. I don’t feel like she has good intentions based on that. I really agree with every other part of this video, though!
I think she’s less concerned with morality and more concerned with winning. She’s frustrated when there’s a potential solution that, in her view, no one else is seeing
Tiffany Paulsen I agree about her desire to “win”. I’m really curious as to see where her true intentions are. Somehow I feel like they may give her some redemption arch in healing Catra’s deep rooted issues.
I loved kyle and I love characters like him. A small scrawny kid who's strengths are his compassion and loyalty. The kind of person who can't help much in a fight but could have an inspiring speech moment
The horde may mess with him, but guess that's family. They mess with you but will be there for you in the end. Also, glad Kyle didn't just become a pushover in the end. Glad he had his moment to be angry and show there's more to him. Also, didnt think he like Rogelio that way. Guess raising Imp makes them a thing.
With someone like Kyle on your side, you May lose the battle but will win the War.With someone like Kyle on your side, you May lose the battle but will win the War.
I know Hordak is a villain, but god he and Entrapta are just so adorable together! I mean, when he tells her she's not a failure, it's dorky and cute. I try to rationalize their relationship with two things. 1) Hordak was pretty much created to be a conqueror, he has literally known nothing else and is in some ways affected by his creator's neglect. Entrapta has given him a few positive/good moments in his life. 2) In order for Hordak to have happiness while at the same time paying for his war crimes, it'd be best for his punishment to be exile/banishment to some far off place, and Entrapta decides to join him so they won't be alone/abandoned again. They can live together in exile and be awesome lab partners.
Exile in Dryly sounds amazing, maybe even they say to "punish him" he'd have to become a leading scientist in experiments for Brightmoon. All that matters is that Hordak and Entrapta are happy, together, and safe. I'd say Hordak is more of a parallel to Catra than a real villain, because as you pointed out he didn't know better. All he wanted to do was please Prime, to get the "love" Prime use to give him.
Honestly, the part about Entrapa broke my mind slightly. I never thought about her being a villain or on even on the bad side. I guess I just always saw her as being misguided and naive.
Really? I just saw her as working with what she had, when she was in the fright zone, she.was given the equipment to continue her experiments so she just rolled with it
@@LanieMae Yeah but with Scorpia we're introduced to her in Horde and the extent of nativity isn't revealed until later in the story. She almost doesn't seem to realize that her life was lie
I would like to point out that Double Trouble's "your problems are your fault" to Catra would come across as no pushing Adora away isn't her fault if it came before S3 finale. By S3 Catra is entirely responsible for pushing Adora away from herself, she had three major points where she could have left the horde and done the right thing for herself, and just as many to mitigate her own actions. But her insecurities and tendency to blame others for her failings led to her attempting to destroy the world largely out of spite. By the end of Season 3 Catra is responsible for pushing Adora away, that's the whole point of Adora's big moment in the S3 finale.
I think that yeah, Adora has tried to reach out to her and their broken relationship in Season 4 is on Catra. But what Shadow Weaver did to her was not her fault. Luckily Season 5 addressed how Shadow Weaver treated both Adora and Catra
@@margielewallen3529 It's not even that - Adora's decision to leave the Horde is all about the Horde, and nothing to do with any of the individuals. The same goes for her reasons for staying away. It's not about being with Catra or not being with Catra; it's about being on the side of freedom and justice, or on the side of lies and tyrrany. Not that that makes it any better for Catra.
Took the words right out of my mouth! I love Shadow Weaver as a villain, because they are manipulative and cunning. They don't need to possess a large amount of physical prowess to be dangerous, as she can whisper in your ear, telling sweet lies, and lead you down the path she wants. Time will tell how much her influence on Glimmer will take effect, but needless to say, she isn't one so easily beaten!
suuuuper interesting villain for sure. i like that she did kind of help glimmer in season 4 but those affects/that influence could potentially lead her down a darker path in season 5? ugh just love it
I like this, it's a big point that needs to be stated, Shadoweaver isn't defeated, and Hordak is closer to a redemption arc than she is. S4 is showing that even without her power, she is dangerous, probably more dangerous, because she hasn't changed. She's still gaslighting, playing friends off each other and manipulating herself into the right hand of power.
I enjoyed the "Why you suck" speech delivered by Double Trouble greatly, it was on point and it worked. It is my greatest grievance with toxic people that you cannot just *tell them* to their faces all the ways in which they've fucked up their own and other's lives. I mean, you sure can, but they will just create more excuses for themselves. Catra actually developed from her Never My Fault phase and became the best version of herself. I don't believe that would happen if Double Trouble hasn't chewed her up.
I was so sad when Catra decided she didn't want to live in the Crimson Waste with Scorpia. She was so happy there! But at least it all turned out good in the end
9:12 I'd like to point out that DT themselves say "It's for your own good darling" while pointing out the obvious to Catra. I'd like to think DT has a wide enough view of the big picture to realize how someone's actions impacts the world at large. We see this later on when they impersonate that far-seer prince and they explain how living under Horde Prime™'s rule was a life so utterly devoid of enjoyment and artistic fulfillment for them, they went out of their way to try and get the Alliance's attention in order to relay very crucial information. At their heart, DT is just as obsessed with their artistic fulfillment as an actor as Entrapta is passionate about tech. Both are lacking a moral compass, without being full-on Sociopaths (as demonstrated by their, albeit limited, capacity to develop attachments to other people) The difference is DT is always looking at the bigger picture, as opposed to Entrapta's laser-focus.
Yeah I love how pronouns and non-binary identities are so normalized here. I, as an evil bad guy, would never think to misgender my cis enemies or subordinates to make them feel bad, even if I were trying to be as evil as possible, because their gender is so normal to me it wouldn’t occur to me to do so. It’s great to see this happen with non-binary people!
honestly watching that scene I enjoyed it. I loved catra she was my favourite which is why I loved what double trouble did. they shook Catra awake and told her now whay she wanted but what she needed.
I think you misread that ending scene. I think it's Catra's eye opening moment. I think this moment is why she tries to save glimmer. I think double troubles betrayal was an important moment for her redemption arc but we'll see.
While I certainly agree it was eye opening moment for her, I'm not so sure about the rest. Over the course of the series Catra has had multiple chances at redemption, or at least opportunities to walk away from the conflict (to choose her own path independent of either Adora or the Horde), but at every turn she's embraced the dark side instead. It's not so much that I think Catra is irredeemable, but rather more so that I think Catra herself believes it... that throwing her lot in with the Horde has become a sunk cost for her. She might now understand her mistakes, but I'm not so sure if she can allow herself to believe in any other path, because doing so would require admitting that everything she "sacrificed" in the process was all for NOTHING.
Transcendent Creators I always saw that moment as catra’s wake up call where she finally called out about all the things she’s done and all her problems.
This makes me wonder how She-Ra will handle the "bigger bad" Horde Prime. Just looking at his character design I spot some glaring things that could come up later: -all the Horde clones except him have two eyes. He has...3 on one side? That's....abnormal. Almost a *mutation.* A design flaw. -Not only that, but he also has mechanical augments, just like Hordak does. They're in his hair. Horde Prime has a god complex, but shows cracks along the edges. Where did *he* come from?
What if Hordak's 'flaws' were actually Horde Prime's own traits you mentioned and the reason he hated him was because he hates that he's not perfect? But because of Entrapta, Hordak remembers that being imperfect is what makes him beautiful and not a failure thus leading to a one up against Horde Prime?
The moment we met double trouble I was in love with them..from character design to personality they show duality and fluidity.. everything they say can't be trusted and they use everything they know about a person to currupt them emotionally..I just want to see a little more of them at season 5
Adora NOT being the usual "Super Special ~*Pure Heart*~" defector-from-evil protagonist is SO GODDAMN REFRESHING. And fascinating, realistic, relatable, deep, and makes for better storytelling. That she doesn't do a quick and easy total 180 away from the former comrades who she *literally grew up with* (looking at you, Star Wars). Both real life and psychological research have proven we are just about all capable of doing very bad things if caught in the wrong combination of situations. You might not even realize it until much later. And meanwhile very few people are always totally evil all the time.
How could you not talk about glimmer?? she made awful choices, that show us how easily the good guy can turn into a bad one. She didn't want to destroy the world, but she knew there was the possibility, and she choose to do even so.
Here's why I like shadow weaver, scorpia, and catra: Shadow weaver is a manipulative villain who's a mixed bag on if she's good or bad, and I love it. And scorpia and catra, well... They're just adorable.
i’m so glad they didnt do the same to Shadow Weavers character as they did with Snapes character in Harry Potter, you’re not forced to like Shadow Weaver by the end and neither Catra or Adora will remember her fondly like Harry does with Snape. she didn’t deserve a redemption and i’m glad they ended it the way they did
I love that Shadow Weaver isn't a world-threatening villian but a personal villian to our main characters, Adora and Catra, but also Glimmer's Family because of her connection to Micah.
We did get to see Shadow Weaver's back story. The fact that she used to be part of the Rebellion but was snubbed, rightfully so because she was willing to take gigantic risks. She was a mentor to Micah. She let the evil consume her, then she became the abusive narcissistic mother to Adora and Catra. The way she shows respect to Glimmer is fascinating. She becomes this voice of reason.
I love how they showed Catra learning to open up to people in S5. When she was talking to Glimmer while in Horde Prime’s ship, it felt like she was starting to let other people in to her heart. I also liked how it took a while for Catra to actually be nice and truly a good friend instead of changing her personality in one episode.
Loved your previous She-ra analysis back in season 1 and definitely this one as well! I'm really curious and yet nervous how they will take Catra's character from there, she could either go the Zuko or Azula route- we may never know! 😬
I'd like it if she redeemed herself. Since I began watching the show I've seen that "evil" Adora would be basically be Azula and "good" Catra would be Zuko. You know, the golden child and the pariah.
That scene is such a weird combination of painful and *deliciously* satisfying for me -- Catra is my runaway favorite character and I've wanted nothing but good things for her from the start, but she wouldn't have been where she ended up at the end of S5 if she hadn't been torn to pieces by Double Trouble first.
Great video, and some really good points were made. Although, I have to disagree with your take on that scene with Catra and Double Trouble. I really don't see it as a step back for Catra's redemption, because she was at a point where she just needed to hear all of this. It certainly didn't ease her pain, but the route she was taking during the whole show (especially in season 4) was way more painful to her. She was already breaking down and believing too hard in the things she kept telling herself, she just needed to be called out. Because everything DT said was true. I think it may resonate with Catra, probably traumatizing her, but also giving her a new perspective on her situation, and I found that hopeful. So, like you said, I definitely didn't know how to feel about that scene, but not for the reasons you explained. It was just really painful to watch Catra get hurt so deeply once again, but it also felt right and necessary. Anyway, these were just my thoughts.. Loved the vid!
I've been wanting to watch this show for a while now, but I can never find the time to do it. But this video makes me want to just sit down and start watching it. Great video
Btw, can we talk about that scene where Catra is betrayed by Shadow Waver just so she could escape? I’m talking about the prison scene, SW (Shadow Waver) made Catra think she was cared for, loved even, SW showed motherly love for Catra for the very first time that day and it was *fake.*
I kind of felt like no matter how "good" Shadow Weaver became/acted, she was always manipulating the people around her. I felt like she spent ALL of season 4 manipulating Glimmer. That isn't to say that what Glimmer did wasn't her fault, but Glimmer was hurting after losing her mom and Shadow Weaver (and a little bit Double Trouble) just exacerbated that by egging her in what was constantly the wrong direction. Plus then....season 5 I just wanted to smack Shadow Weaver every time she was on screen. Lol
Catra is mean not only because she was raised by shadow weaver, Adora was the only good thing in her life. Without her, she was all alone. And when Adora leaves, it hurts her more than everything else.
Adora was also raised by SW and subject to abusive parenting also there were other kids around, Catra was just mad jealous Adora wasn't with her 24/7 and choosing her over other people.
With Scorpia, I feel like if she had been given the connection to her runestone, wouldn't the heart of Atheria activate as soon as Adora touched the sword? Since the planet would have already been balanced and there would be no need for the "epic quest" to become She-Ra, she just would have done it and the world would have imploded.
It absolutely helps, I assume, that almost nobody ever seems to kill anyone else. There's a lot of fighting and virtually no killing. The only deaths were the result of self-sacrifices as far as I can remember.
I don't want to sound like I'm leaving a hate comment because I'm not, I watched one of your other She-Ra videos and immensely enjoyed it! Thank you for that, but I would argue that Double Trouble betraying Catra was the beginning to her redemption. I definitely felt bad for Catra in that scene but what Double Trouble did was say "Hey, stop blaming everyone else for your accidents." (to sum it up) which I think started her growth in Season 5, because of that Catra looking at Adora and her past and how they always interacted showed her, "Adora wasn't using me, she genuinly loved and cared about me." Which prior to that scene of Double Trouble was taken as "She wants me to think she's my friends so then she would have power over me." So i think that whole thing with Double Trouble was really good and important for her to realize the way she acts is far from ok. I still love the rest of the video this is not hate I wanted to share my opinion/what I believed happened in that scene :)
While I disagree that Shadow Weaver has true intent to change right now (I bet she will in S5 now that Micah's back uwu) I think you were spot-on with the thesis of her story. It's easy to love Catra and Hordak because they're abuse victims, but what about Shadow Weaver, who's deeply complicated and whose own actions have hurt her so desperately? What about her, who has a loved one? I feel the thesis of her story is about how you should love everyone and see the human in them even when it's hard.
You can tell that she has a heart, when she was Light Spinner and became Shadow Weaver, and saw Young Micah being terrified of her.. she just cupped his cheek, and left the kingdom.
Drey Juanich700 it’s funny that every once in a while she’s like “adios” and leaves wherever she was like when she was light spinner, just leaving after she totally fucked up and again in the horde, and then again in the finale (btw I’m pretty sure she faked her death)
I wish you made this after watching season 5 too because I think Shadow Weaver’s death and what she says to Catra is really significant too. It’s like the perfect ending to that saga I LOVED how they did it. It gave much needed closure. The one thing Shadow Weaver spent years trying to stop and break apart, only to be the one to make it possible to happen by undoing it. It’s just…I’ve never been so happy at a scene the way I was for that.
this might be just me, but i really only see entrapta and hordak as like, colleagues/friends. And I like that about them, they can work in peace together and be friendly, chaotic neutral together.
@@roselastname4528 not even shadow weaker. i very much hate all the things she did but honestly, her character? it's interestingly mysterious. but she can rot in hell
Thank goodness I'm up to speed on She-Ra so I can watch this video without fearing Spoilers 😃 (Personally, I was a bit disgusted by what Catra did at the end of Season 3..that I kinda don't feel sympathy for her anymore..? Can't wait for Season 5, though)
@@RileyJayDennis I mean, I'm sure Catra can redeem herself..but at this point I need to see her _try_ to form an honest relationship. No more lying & backstabbing, etc
Catra is a raging ball of childhood trauma and abandonment issues. Maybe she can be 'redeemed,' but I think instead we're going to see her keep climbing the power ladder until she can get back at those she perceives as having wronged her.
@@nicholassmith7984: As of season 4, Catra was left so broken that I'm not sure if she'd even really care about power and revenge anymore. I'd fully expect her to still claim so, but deep down I think the only thing that might keep her heading down the dark path would be as a sunk cost. Whether or not Catra ever could make amends for all the wrongs she's done, I not sure if she'd ever try, because she'd first have to admit to herself that everything she "sacrificed" in the pursuit of power and revenge was a waist.
Nice video! The reason I love She-Ra as much as I do is because of the characters. They're so incredibly well-written, relatable, and just. Amazing. The stellar character writing is something I want to see more in cartoons in the future.
The first time I seen she-ra, I didn’t like Entraptraa whole lot. But now that I see everyone’s point of views and logical explanations I now see that she’s probably the most chillest character in the show and she’s just doing her own thing. And yes I’m writing this comment after szn 5 came out a few months ago.
I'm really glad that scorpia promises to always stay by catra's side and then is allowed to go back on that promise (and have it be framed as the right decision) once she understands that she doesn't deserve the way catra treats her
When Double Trouble betrayed Catra, personally, it wasn't a moment of "I feel bad for Catra" but rather, it was a moment of "Finally, it's about time Catra heard what needed to be said. You can't fix a problem if no one brings attention to it". I believe that if it weren't for Double Trouble's aggressive therapy speedrun plus the complete annihilation of Hordak's Horde, Catra would have never been redeemed.
Double Trouble was the catalyst for Catra's redemption. The actual turning point happened in Corridors but if Double Trouble hadn't given Catra the kick up the arse that she needed, she would have just gone back to her old habits.
at 9:10 , That was actually the turning point for catra. She was pushing away every single person that cared about her. First she drove adora so far over board that she lost all hope that she could be redeemed. Then she sent entrapta away to beast island, losing another friend who cared about her. Then she pushed Scorpio away to the point that Scorpio left the horde. and yet she kept going on about how no one cared about her and its because she did push everyone away and double trouble had that right. Catra needed to be completely broken to be able to have a chance at a redeeming arc in the series and that's exactly what happened. The confrontation with double trouble utterly broke catra and in the next season, Adora was able to rescue and pick up the pieces of catra's life and rebuild the bond they once shared.
my favirotes are litrally scorpia, catra and entrapta, entrapta i can never considere a villian as she is just lead by science and stuff and she is so good.
I just binged all of this series in the past week. I liked it so much I bought three dolls from the toy line. Excellent story telling. Swift Wind is my favorite character. Never met a more sassy sarcastic horse since Mister Ed lol.
God I love she-ra so much, this explains better why I got so involved with this series. Idk, just thank you noelle and everyone involved in the making of she-ra
I always found the relationship between Entrapta and Hordark very unusual, but in a good way. That have a good dynamic going and I hope it gets expanded upon.
I love She-Ra and I'm honestly really grateful that there are kids growing with this show, a show that presents them with the complex idea that no one is completely good or completely bad, as well as some explanations as to why some people choose to do terrible things, it is a greatly needed thing to learn.
Now that it's all over, I can say this: I like how we don't get an explanation for why the Horde Prime guy wants universal destruction aside from it "creates peace" and "gives way for new order." It's kind of insinuated that he'd forced himself to live for so long that he forgot his real motivation over all of his incarnations and different vessels. This of course opposed to Mara, who sacrificed herself for her cause in the hopes that nobody else would have to.
One of the biggest moments in that show that nearly brought me to tears was when they were in the Crimson wastes and catra was finally happy and actually could’ve stayed it that way but it was completely shattered simply because of the thought being abandoned for adora
*NOW LIVE WITH IT!* "
Her entire redemption arc hinges on that message having finally made it through.

No! Catra is the definition of "Be gay and do crimes" and Double trouble it's "I'm just here to be fabulous!"
We could, you know, _be happy._
*But she won't.*

Their name is Jacob Tobiah. They actually wrote a memoir (I listened to the audiobook voiced by them) and I really recommend it. It was hilarious!
Yes I completely agree. I can't believe that she has good intentions.
Yeah there's something off about her
I think she’s less concerned with morality and more concerned with winning. She’s frustrated when there’s a potential solution that, in her view, no one else is seeing
Still, her motive is to stop the horde.
Like Neville from Harry Potter
@@HenshinHeroesMedia Honestly him and Rogelio is the cutest thing.

definitely should go professional
I was gonna say how since Horde Prime offed him, but I forgot they "killed Micha and Angela" in the show, so we might see them do that.
Entrapta is basically Komugi to Hordak's Meruem, from Hunter X Hunter
SEASON 5 ENDING SPOILERS!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Hordak is saved at the end of season 5. Entrapta and him get to be friends
I knowwwwwwww!!!
Honestly, the part about Entrapa broke my mind slightly. I never thought about her being a villain or on even on the bad side. I guess I just always saw her as being misguided and naive.
Really? I just saw her as working with what she had, when she was in the fright zone, she.was given the equipment to continue her experiments so she just rolled with it
I saw her as indifferent to what the horde was doing while hurt that her friends left her.
@@ShashaStudios I think that's fair as well.
You could say that for scorpia as well
@@LanieMae Yeah but with Scorpia we're introduced to her in Horde and the extent of nativity isn't revealed until later in the story. She almost doesn't seem to realize that her life was lie
Why i like Shadow weaver: She respects prounouns
Pretty much the only good thing she's ever done, lol
Care to elaborate?
She's a villain, but she's not a piece of shit (entirely)
SpyPlayz she calls Double Trouble “Them” consistently.
When she evil but she respects pronouns
double troubles was actually a step up, a huge wake up to her that made her change on the last season
Luckily Season 5 addressed how Shadow Weaver treated both Adora and Catra
i agree catra isnt the reason adora left but rather the reason she would never come bacck
I agree! I love Shadow Weaver so much! 😂😂
I love how the villains and heroes are equally well written and relatable. I love Scorpia especially!
Gotta be honest, loved the villains more than the main cast

I enjoyed the "Why you suck" speech delivered by Double Trouble greatly, it was on point and it worked. It is my greatest grievance with toxic people that you cannot just *tell them* to their faces all the ways in which they've fucked up their own and other's lives. I mean, you sure can, but they will just create more excuses for themselves. Catra actually developed from her Never My Fault phase and became the best version of herself. I don't believe that would happen if Double Trouble hasn't chewed her up.
Double trouble didn’t push Catra farther away from people, they gave her a wake up call. She ended up actually changing because of that wake up call
I was so sad when Catra decided she didn't want to live in the Crimson Waste with Scorpia. She was so happy there! But at least it all turned out good in the end
This videos analysis on Catra: exists
Season 5: I’m about end this mans whole career
Both are lacking a moral compass, without being full-on Sociopaths (as demonstrated by their, albeit limited, capacity to develop attachments to other people)
The difference is DT is always looking at the bigger picture, as opposed to Entrapta's laser-focus.
*themself says
Non gendered, not plural :P
The horde: Yes we destroy kingdoms and want to take over the world, but we will respect your prounons while doing so
Yeah I love how pronouns and non-binary identities are so normalized here.
I, as an evil bad guy, would never think to misgender my cis enemies or subordinates to make them feel bad, even if I were trying to be as evil as possible, because their gender is so normal to me it wouldn’t occur to me to do so. It’s great to see this happen with non-binary people!
The writer of She-ra: Yeah, Double Trouble betraying Catra would make the kids happy!

honestly watching that scene I enjoyed it. I loved catra she was my favourite which is why I loved what double trouble did. they shook Catra awake and told her now whay she wanted but what she needed.
Theorists: *now it’s time to get funky*
@@LanieMae To the right now.
I really hope so. If cant help but think that if catra doesnt start redeming herself the shows gonna end with her demise at some point.
Facts
Transcendent Creators I always saw that moment as catra’s wake up call where she finally called out about all the things she’s done and all her problems.
I almost saw both? I can't tell which, you can never tell with her
We all love Scorpia, fight me
Nah fam, totally agree
This makes me wonder how She-Ra will handle the "bigger bad" Horde Prime. Just looking at his character design I spot some glaring things that could come up later:
-all the Horde clones except him have two eyes.
You were right about HP's god complex
Some other video essay wondered if horde prime could be a metaphor for a white supremacist. After all I saw pn season 5 yet, I'd agree.
What did you think of the final season?
@@leanicole2853 I'm curious too
The moment we met double trouble I was in love with them..from character design to personality they show duality and fluidity.. everything they say can't be trusted and they use everything they know about a person to currupt them emotionally..I just want to see a little more of them at season 5
Entrapta is my favorite character
I honestly find her to be quite relatable, as I put whatever I’m working on before emotional bonds.
Here's why I like shadow weaver, scorpia, and catra:
Shadow weaver is a manipulative villain who's a mixed bag on if she's good or bad, and I love it.
And scorpia and catra, well...
They're just adorable.
Hordaks weak spot *is* Entrapta !!!
i’m so glad they didnt do the same to Shadow Weavers character as they did with Snapes character in Harry Potter, you’re not forced to like Shadow Weaver by the end and neither Catra or Adora will remember her fondly like Harry does with Snape. she didn’t deserve a redemption and i’m glad they ended it the way they did
I love that Shadow Weaver isn't a world-threatening villian but a personal villian to our main characters, Adora and Catra, but also Glimmer's Family because of her connection to Micah.
Wholesome breakdown of the character dynamics for the villains.
Shadow Weaver is a character I love to hate

Loved your previous She-ra analysis back in season 1 and definitely this one as well! I'm really curious and yet nervous how they will take Catra's character from there, she could either go the Zuko or Azula route- we may never know! 😬
I'd like it if she redeemed herself. Since I began watching the show I've seen that "evil" Adora would be basically be Azula and "good" Catra would be Zuko. You know, the golden child and the pariah.
I watch the show for them😂 the heroes are okay but the “villains” are the reason I stan
Can we talk about how everyone blames stuff of and seems to not care about Kyle! until season 4 when they get in the acid snow, big oof

OMGOSH lolol
I knew that scene was a bit fonky
Holy
Omfg I just realised!
I absolutely LOVED watching Double Trouble betray Catra; She needed someone to just lay it out for her and they delivered.
SAME. I personally think that if that speech didn't happen, Catra's reform would have taken much longer.
Like in a way DT was finally a good friend for two seconds even while betraying her.
It reads more like an intervention than a betrayal. But I think S5 will show us whether it was justified.
I definitely think their speech was what pushed Catra towards her redemption, she needed to hear the things Double Trouble said.
I was surprised someone felt bad about DT chewing out Catra. I was low key cheering them on. This video changed my mind tho.
I've been wanting to watch this show for a while now, but I can never find the time to do it. But this video makes me want to just sit down and start watching it.

I was SUPER happy when double trouble betrayed catra cause of Scorpia
Btw, can we talk about that scene where Catra is betrayed by Shadow Waver just so she could escape?
I’m talking about the prison scene, SW (Shadow Waver) made Catra think she was cared for, loved even, SW showed motherly love for Catra for the very first time that day and it was *fake.*
Excellent video! I love She-Ra and your analysis made me appreciate it even more.
aw yay im so glad to hear that!
I fully agree that Entrapta is chaotic neutral
I kind of felt like no matter how "good" Shadow Weaver became/acted, she was always manipulating the people around her. I felt like she spent ALL of season 4 manipulating Glimmer. That isn't to say that what Glimmer did wasn't her fault, but Glimmer was hurting after losing her mom and Shadow Weaver (and a little bit Double Trouble) just exacerbated that by egging her in what was constantly the wrong direction.
Plus then....season 5 I just wanted to smack Shadow Weaver every time she was on screen. Lol
I like when shows make the antagonists as *actual people* and not just villains. Like, they aren't just things with absolutely no feelings whatsoever.
Catra is mean not only because she was raised by shadow weaver, Adora was the only good thing in her life. Without her, she was all alone. And when Adora leaves, it hurts her more than everything else.
Ye people tend to forget that
Adora was also raised by SW and subject to abusive parenting also there were other kids around, Catra was just mad jealous Adora wasn't with her 24/7 and choosing her over other people.

Am I the only one who was more invested in the villains story than the main characters?
I really enjoyed the friendship of Entrapta and Hordac. It was a lot of fun to watch and an interesting dynamic
It absolutely helps, I assume, that almost nobody ever seems to kill anyone else. There's a lot of fighting and virtually no killing. The only deaths were the result of self-sacrifices as far as I can remember.
Remember that one episode when SW randomly killed someone? (S2E6)
Thank you for the closed captioning; it's very much appreciated by those for whom hearing is a little more complicated than perhaps for others.
@@LanieMae is there a reason to fake a death in a ending?

How about now? How you liked finale?

Shadow weaver: the chill gardener
UA-camr: These are the complex reasons that Catra’s circumstances cause the viewer to show sympathy for her.
Me: Lesbian kitty go brrrr
5:30 it wasn't Scorpia's moms who made a deal w the Horde. It was her grandfather
at 9:10 , That was actually the turning point for catra.
I think Perfuma has the best understanding of Shadow Weaver's character arc; is she an enemy, a prisoner, or an ally?
You know it’s a good show when ever character makes you want to burst into tears with pain and confusion
I *LOVE* complex villains, so this show quickly became one of my favorites. Its soooooo good.
my favirotes are litrally scorpia, catra and entrapta, entrapta i can never considere a villian as she is just lead by science and stuff and she is so good.
Anyone watching a day before Season 5 comes out?
hello, 1 hour and 14 mins!
hello, just watched it all
Scorpia is one of my favorite characters she's so precious ❤️
I’ve never seen such perfect and satisfying character development in a show before I watched She-ra.
*"As kids, we adored heroes. As we age, we understand villans."*
I adore the show and I really wish more people could watch cartoons/animation and not just see it as “a kids cartoon”
Love your She-Ra and Avatar content. Keep up the good work!
