I love Tiny Desk Concerts! I’ve discovered so many great artists and I’ve never been more satisfied with my Spotify playlists lol another great artist. Thank you for putting me on ❤️
Everything this man touches turns into crazy diamonds. Sometimes I can't believe that he is real... that he is only human. Love him so much. 💖 And the vocalist with white hair is out of this world... All of these musicians are incredible.
Elliott Skinner is an absolute beast!! His control of pitch and timbre is just otherworldly. He reminds me a lot of Yebba, another James Francies collaborater and another of my absolute faves!
This is astounding. The colors of the music...the moods/emotion it evokes...the musicianship...all of it is ethereal. So glad to be introduced to James Francies, and thanks to NPR for giving him their platform to share his magic.
Found him through a friend who really tracks and finds great jazz musicians James is ONE I heard him in person @Blues Alley in DC in May 2019 w Chris Potter then Feb 2023 in Durham NC w Pat Metheny
This was amazing and Mr. Francies is even more impressive live ... I'm a fan and love that we get to experience his talent in the privacy of our homes as we celebrate Black Music Month 2022. What a gift! Thank you for sharing him with us here!
Wow didn't realize playing piano got you so jacked 💪 😁! Thank you James and his entire band for this, well played (a first time listener to the band)! Thanks as always to NPR for putting these shows on! Been a welcome distraction to the news.. Best wishes all !!
I would listen to this song every day but a night before one of the scariest exam papers, I listened to this song and the words " late in the midnight hour God's gonna turn it around, it's gonna work in your favor" sounded like I heard them for the first time. At that moment I knew God got me in that exam the next day. And now I'll be graduating 🥺✨
Saw him with Pat Metheny in a trio setting last year, my son and I were absolutely blown away! Impeccable musician. If you have a chance check him out on that recording.
Desde España, agradezco que sigan habiendo artistas como ellos, creando piezas musicales de verdad, en plena época del desapego al arte de la música. Gracias.
Man, I can only imagine James working on some jazz-influenced material with Tyler, the creator. I just think that'd be dope. I loved seeing him live twice playing with Yebba during the JM tour. Amazing talent.
I’m actually apprehensive about listening to these selections on say , Spotify and the rest because many of these artist sound better on Tiny Desk somehow. This does not diminish any of their commercial works.
i came to npr yt page to watch taylor swift tho it wasn't here, instead i found this gem 💖 aahh! watching this feel so goood! enjoyed this one very much. james is absolutely fantastic! this makes me seek for more new music artists to discover
I would really love to do tiny desk with my band. I've attempted a couple times before, but this vibe just reminded me how had I want to be on here. I'm independent based out of St. Louis MO, but it'd be an honor. Check out my a "Day in St. Louis" we'd bring this vibe meets tank and the bangas. I'm Poetiq, and a big HUGE fan. Much love.
@@318xoalexis much love I appreciate it. Just came back from performing in NY as well. Played for actor and comedian JB Smoove. More music is on the way. Much love 🙏🏿
Is there such a thing as a “Music Theory/Composition Coach”? I’d be honored to study from any of these talented individuals involved in this gorgeous performance.
Anyone know who the narrator was on the final track? I'm pretty sure that Me'shell N'degeocello Used some of his speaking on her Cookie album! I'd like to find more of his words! fwiw, Me'shell trailblazed this approach from her Plantation Lullabies album onward!
So proud of my brother
When I say I love James Francies. TINY DESK. You never miss!! Not one bit.
I love Tiny Desk Concerts! I’ve discovered so many great artists and I’ve never been more satisfied with my Spotify playlists lol another great artist. Thank you for putting me on ❤️
Agreed. My playlist is very Tiny Desk heavy at the expense of the mainstream artists, and I like it that way.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a more beautiful song than Rose Water, my god!
it sure is a gorgeous song...I love it so much.
i wish it was an hour long! I felt sad when it ended!
Here because his rendition of Chaka khans”Ain’t nobody” is one of the craziest things I’ve heard in the past 5 years
Wow, just wow. Thank you, NPR for this gift.
Jeremy Dutton !!!! What a drummer.

It's jazz and beyond just wonderful!
I first heard his music at Newport Jazz fest some years ago. Been a fan ever since!
Um... Wow! I have not listened to James Francies' playing before. Breathtaking! 🌸🎶
Rose Water is just fantastic
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ absolutely amazing
Love your voice Elliott Skinner 💙
Thank you 🙏🏾👏🏾❤️
they play with time so lovely on that first one.

Now there's two songs I love called Rose Water!

Rose Water... So FREAKING and softly... great. 🥺

Agreed amazing performance. You would swear there is a bass player on that album but that is James on keys!

Yes Mr. Bill, exactly!!
I saw that band too in Olympia, WA, the first night of the tour. Amazing
素晴らしい!!!👏👏👏すごく癒されました!素敵な音楽を届けてくれて、ありがとう☺
Each and every artist who contributed to this concert is incredibly talented ... I wish I had another word.
yessssss----the talent! Great start to my day
SICK!!!!
I saw James earlier this year with Pat Metheny on the SideEye tour..his virtuosity was impressive and quite refreshing 👍👍😄😄
Nice feeling on the ivories. Great combo
A joy
That second track was just 🤯 gave me so much chills ❤️ thank you guys!🙏
Such a Beautiful gift! 🎁 💖
Loving the jazz groove boys!
Johnston Middle School student- Craig Green Jazz band director... Houston Tx, the School is now called Meyerland Middle.
These guys sound so "old" and accomplished but are so young... astonishing!
This is real music
this is unreal! James Francies is such an inspiration! Its just crazy.
Rose Water is beautiful

Respect your idea but honestly lol I hope we don't hear tyler material lol
Tyler's "art" doesn't deserve to be in the same room as someone this great.
What did Tyler do to you guys? You can feel the hate through a UA-cam comment. Chill out, it’s called a personal opinion. :)
@@diogoreis3008 Same, i'm so surprised
best musik i have seen in along time ,thanks a lot
It is Very good. Mississippi rare tune.
I'm gonna friggin cry dude!
Peaceful concert
Beautiful
Thanks James 🤝🏻
last track is awesome. thank you!
Bruh smh Im feeling Oscar Peterson vibes in the first song. He just got a new fan. I'm loving this!
@Jay Kay Lol my bad for the typo
Definitely Peterson influenced. And Monk as well.
Beast! The Art Tatum of the 2020s
Yezzzzzzziiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrr
A unique voice on piano! Sumptuous strings too ✨
When a drummer starts playing with his head raised and his eyes closed that how u know this is too good the man is basically possessed
By the Holy Spirit of God

Its because usually live music sounds better
His studio work is definitely worth checking out. Brilliant stuff
And the Tiny Desk crew does an outstanding job with sound engineering. They pay attention to details.
This version of Sway is AWESOME☺
The part where they go into that swing chorus (?) is so inventive. I have the album in fact both of his albums look forward to many more ❤
That was great! Thank you!
Wow, 713 slaps, truly slaps. It's a shame the mixing isn't as good this time around.
I love you Tiny Desk ,
