I never expect Super Robot Wars to come back to this channel and I'm always delightfully surprised. Uther, the character this theme is for, is a really cool and interesting character. He starts as a coward who flees when attacked, but after becoming King when his father falls he becomes a ruthless, warmongering tyrant. However this all a ploy to try and get his close allies to abandon him and the player faction to fight him without mercy so he can both get close to the True Antagonist to try and backstab him and so the Main Character can defeat him and take his power to help take down the True Antagonist. The power that he does have is the ability to heal and revive people, though it comes at the cost of his own life. Symbolic of his self-destruction to try and save his people. It's been a *long* time since I played Z2 so I probably have some details wrong, but that's the general gist.
Its really is somehing when Uther Insalaum is debuted right when Code Geass plot is in its Season 2 and how similar Uther and Lelouch way is on their plan to be the "Bad Guy" so the Heroes can strike them without remorse (though, in Zero Plan, the "Hero" in question is in on the plan)
The video was Gameplay, the battles happen in that cutscene-ish style. But really the most simple ways of explaining what it is that it's kind of like Fire Emblem, except with Mecha anime, and they do also have their own original characters in the mix. Most of the games never saw an official English translation, or even a fan translation, until the ones released for the PS4. And the first game to see an actual international english release was Super Robot Wars 30, which is also on PC. 30 was the series 30 year anniversary and isn't necessarily the best game in the series, but it's their poke at the international market I guess.
SRW games are strategy RPGs. The look simple at first, you're just moving your units in a map like chess pieces, but when you have them confront each other you get crazy elaborate animations like the ones in the video. So yes, that's in-game footage - and it's even from an older game for the PSP. Most of the games are also cross-overs mixing mechas from different anime series, so you can get Evangelions working together with Gundam pilots to take down General Dark from the Mazinger series. It's as crazy as it sounds and it's a blast for fans of mecha anime.
About Super Robot Wars: It's a turn based tactical game and what you were mostly seeing in the video were the myriad of attack animations that was the main appeal for the series. Most of which were catered to a more... cultured audience... like myself.
JAM Project did all (I think?) the main themes for the SRW series, which are all bangers. I'd like to see Crest of Z's someday, since it's probably the "darkest" of the songs (but they're all amazing). As far as ingame themes (sort of), Super Robot Spirits (in the games it's given the name Soul of Steel (Hagane no Tamashii)) is THE theme to go for. If there's a song that screams "SUPER ROBOT!", it is that one, IMO. It's kinda hard to find a crisp UA-cam video to experience it, though.
Uther was one of the best villain in SRW franchise... He was both a cool and tragic character at the same time, unlike other villains whos their agenda always involving destroying/killing something, he choosed to be the bad guy so he could save his people in this alien world because his race and kingdom already branded as threat. So he claimed all of the atrocities happened are done in his name and purposefully ruined his image that makes even his people are disgusted by him so it would make them switch side and betray him. In the end he was a tragic villain because he was a victim of circumstances
Yet his kindness alone manage to make Marilyn, a vain, selfish, manipulative and generally crazy woman, genuinely falls for him and willingly gave her life. He's a really good guy who was forced to do bad things
I wouldn't be surprised if there were like 40 unique games or more... There are multiple series, plus various standalones, each within their own alternative universe or whatever... Confusingly, I think Z2 consists of 2 or 3 games, with alternative sub-titles... It's also a sequel to Z, but they almost completely changed up the mechanics for Z2 lol. I think the original series had at least 4 games, the alpha series had maybe 3 and a side story/Gaiden game... I think the OG series has atleast 4 games and maybe a Gaiden or 2 as well (although this is a bit confusing because there was a remake of the first two games, which the rest of the series followed from... So the third game is kinda also the fourth)... There were 3 games in the Compact series, I think... There were at least 3 games on GBA and DS each (not including the OG games)... Most consoles had at least 2 games (although Xbox might have only had 1... I think the two on Saturn were also on PS1... There are remakes of a few of them... There was a spin off RPG series on the DS that had a couple games... I think there was 1 or 2 RTS-like games on PS2 too... There's a lot... I think there was at least one mobile game too... Whether it is based on anime is slightly confusing too... Most of the games take several anime (usually some version of Gundam, Mazinger and Getter Robo, plus various others, like Evangelion, Macross, Escaflowne etc.), then mash them up together, often with an original story and character(s) added to help combine everything... It's a crossover game similar to stuff like Marvel Vs. Capcom or Super Smash Bros. (although it's a strategy RPG and not a fighting game series)... However, they eventually made a series of games based on a mash up of the original stories and characters they created for those other games (the Original Generation/OG games), which was later made into an original anime lol.

Always so cool to see other SRW enjoyers in comments ❤ legit feel like im the only one who played these games.

The attacks are animated when units attack each other. That was gameplay. And yeah, Jam Project is the band for SRW.
Yup, that was indeed, 100% Super Robot Wars gameplay lol, it's a turn-based, top down, strategy game.
I need more srw z2. There are good ost in there like Black Stranger, Falling tears of a pearl, Untrue crystal.

OK! I'll sub your channel!

I requested Cresti of Zs so it's in the queue.
Sad to say a few odd openings aren't by Jam Project. Like XO and Neo. Or the Z3 games...

That song was so awesome. My first time hearing it too.
Oooooh didn't see this one coming! ❤
With hardcore Mecha Action.
It's been awhile since Z2, i recommend Margarite's theme.
Might as well listen to all of 'The Knights of Arc Saber' themes too

There are 69 Super Robot Wars (and by extension Masou Kishin) titles. 72 if you could a few side hustles like Link Battler, Pinball, and Gakuen.
Z2 is two games, Hakai-Hen ("Destruction Chapter") and Saisen-Hen ("Rebirth Chapter").
I think Jesse should react to music with videos like this more often. The context and visuals really add more to the music.
I highly agree ^^
While not music, I kinda hope he listen to his quotes, Daisuke Hirawa (va) performance really give his character
Whoever named Rand Travis "Land"... Lul i say.
Wow,Seiou OST
I love to see you play super robot wars
Has anybody requested Libera Me From Hell from Gurren Lagann yet? Just throwing it out there ;)
But that's not video game music thooooo
@@ZappaSlave True... But there are Gurren Lagann Games ;P
Only if it’s in SRW or some video game probably
